Chapter 100 - The Happy Ending
During the car ride Angeline was silent. Her thoughts were far away and Alex could see that. He felt Angeline's discomfort.
"Angeline, now I realize that I'm the dumbest person in the world. I know I'll regret it if I go through with it, but I'll keep making the same mistake just to see you smile," Alex said, then abruptly turned his car around, leaving Angeline confused.
"What is Alex doing?"
"If Angeline insists on leaving in a situation like this, you'll never be able to forget it. You have to find out how she really feels and what she's hiding from you. Taking you to him now is the best thing I can do for you, despite all my foolish actions.
With great generosity, Alex drove Angeline to Bryan's house.
"You have to ask him directly. I know Bryan may avoid you, but consider it a surprise attack," Alex said as he parked his car in front of Bryan's house.
"Thanks for what you're doing, and I'm sorry."
Alex smiled at Angeline and shook her hand in encouragement.
"Right. You're doing the right thing, Alex," Alex murmured as he watched Angeline enter Bryan's house.
Angeline didn't find anyone there. She walked around looking for Bryan. By chance, Angeline found Bryan's secret room and went inside.
Inside, Angeline was shocked to see all of the baby supplies meant for Jason still neatly stored in the room. Everything looked clean, like it was brand new. Bryan hadn't thrown away all of Jason's things and was still taking care of them. Everything looked fresh, as if it had just been bought yesterday. Bryan's first hand-sewn baby clothes for Jason were also lovingly preserved in the room.
Angeline approached the crib and looked at it in disbelief. Bryan hadn't disposed of Jason's things and was still taking care of them. Everything looked clean, as if it had just been purchased yesterday. Bryan's first handmade baby clothes for Jason were still carefully stored in the room.
Bryan was moved and saddened as he looked at the baby clothes.
By chance, Angeline turned on a video that was there.
The video showed Bryan talking about his desperate decision to let Angeline go because he did not want her to get hurt. You could hear the desperation in Bryan's voice, the desperation of wanting Angeline by his side so badly. But his heart forbade it because of the threat Madam Rose posed to Angeline's safety. He couldn't even enjoy the pleasures of love like other humans. He was tormented and suffered alone until the end.
Angeline's tears flowed even more. All her misunderstandings about Bryan made her heart ache because she didn't know what had really happened to Bryan all this time. She had been the villain, leaving Bryan to deal with such a massive problem on his own. She had been selfish, hurting Bryan even when he was kind to her.
It was suffocating to know all this. Suffocating to the point where she felt like she couldn't breathe. Why had she been so cruel, punishing Bryan? Why had she been so selfish, always feeling like she was the one suffering, while Bryan was here, in this room, burying it all on his own? Enjoying every memory while he still could, while she only felt like she was the one who was hurting. That she was the one who suffered every day.
Aren't these videos enough to prove Bryan's deep love for her? The sound of footsteps drew Angeline's attention and she saw Bryan walk in. She didn't expect Angeline to be there to witness all of this.
Feeling guilty and longing, Angeline immediately ran into Bryan's arms. Bryan was obviously surprised, especially when Angeline cried and apologized in the middle of her tears. Bryan warmly returned her embrace, believing that his relationship with Angeline was about to begin anew.
"I'm sorry for being selfish. You should have told me everything so I could understand and not leave you, Bryan," Angeline said.
Bryan released her from the hug and wiped away Angeline's tears. "How could I get you into this mess? I'd rather suffer and keep it all to myself. Seeing you stand on your own two feet makes me peaceful and happy."
"I... I never hated you. I thought I didn't deserve to be with you, so you broke up with me."
"No, Angeline, even though you're not someone special right now, I will still love you with all my heart. I just didn't want you to get hurt if you stayed with me."
"I still love you, Bryan. Can ... can we be together now?" Angeline asked with a trembling voice, looking at him with longing and hope in her eyes.
Bryan looked back at her, a mixture of fear and joy in his eyes. But he couldn't hold back any longer. Bryan gently pulled Angeline's waist and kissed her lips tenderly.
Angeline didn't resist; in fact, she returned Bryan's kiss and embraced his body. They grew closer, pouring out all their feelings and the longing buried deep in their hearts.
Angeline and Bryan arrived at a park near Angeline's studio. There, Alex was playing with Jason, who seemed comfortable with him. Alex noticed their arrival and held Jason's hand as he approached Angeline.
"Jason!" Angeline called out, and Jason looked up at his mother's presence. He let go of Alex's hand and ran over to Angeline.
Angeline knelt down and opened her arms wide, hugging Jason as he came into her embrace.
"Mom... what took you so long? I waited at the airport with Auntie. But Uncle said we weren't going home," Jason said with his usual cuteness.
Angeline smiled at him and then turned to Bryan. Jason looked at Bryan who had tears in his eyes. The child he had always longed for, and whom Bryan had never forgotten, was now standing right in front of him. The feelings of longing and love left Bryan speechless.
"Who is he?" Jason asked innocently.
"Say hello to Jason, he's... your father," Angeline said.
Jason looked at Angeline who immediately nodded in surprise. Then Jason smiled broadly and ran over to Bryan and called out to him.
"Father!"
Bryan cried with emotion, he opened his arms wide and caught Jason then spun him in the air making Jason laugh happily.
"Jason... my son, I miss you," Bryan said in a trembling voice.
"What took you so long to come? "Dad... buy me an ice cream," Jason asked excitedly and Bryan nodded happily.
Angeline smiled happily as she saw the reunion of son and father. Then she looked at Alex, who smiled in support of Angeline and Bryan's return.
"I hope you're happy, Angeline," Alex said and then left.
Angeline approached Bryan and immediately hugged him.
"Is Jason happy to meet his dad?" Angeline asked.
"Eung! Daddy is very tall and handsome. "I definitely look like Dad," Jason said, making them both laugh.
"Angeline, thank you for taking me back. I... will protect both of you and not let you go."
"I thank you too, Bryan. For waiting for me and continuing to love me to this moment."
The two looked at each other lovingly. The three of them walked happily to the ice cream shop that Jason wanted.
