Chapter 35 - Operation
The next morning Angeline was the first to wake up. He heard a noise in the next room that made him open his eyes. But just as Angeline was about to move. He felt a hand around his stomach. Angeline turned slightly and saw that it was Bryan hugging her from behind. Her small hand stroked Bryan's strong hand, which tightened the embrace.
Angeline's heart felt the comfort that had been missing since they returned from their honeymoon. His heart had always been afraid and upset. To embrace a day so difficult and agonizing. Yes, Angeline is still afraid of what will happen when all this is over.
Angeline's fear of the lies and the reality that she has been hiding all this time. Angeline's eyes looked at the wall clock that read six o'clock in the morning. Seconds to seconds, minutes to minutes are so precious right now. For some reason, Angeline didn't want to move an inch, she was so comfortable in Bryan's arms, which were so warm that they reached her heart.
Ten minutes passed and Angeline began to feel sore in her current position. Angeline wanted to remove Bryan's hand from her belly. However, just as Angeline was about to get up from her seat. Bryan opened his eyes and smiled when he realized that Angeline was awake. His big hand pulled Angeline's body back to lie down next to him, facing his face.
Angeline was quite surprised and nervous when she saw Bryan's endless good looks.
"Already up?" Bryan asked in his bass voice, so melodious that it made Angeline's heart flutter even more when she saw Bryan, who was so masculine, with messy hair and dark shadows on his chin and jaw.
Angeline was stunned, speechless, unable to answer the simple question Bryan asked. Even as he inhaled the sweet scent of Bryan's exhaled breath, it hit his face.
Bryan's blue eyes looked sadly into Angeline's eyes, which didn't blink even once. Bryan smiled at being stared at like that. As if his love was being returned right now. His heart beat the same way and he really wanted to kiss Angeline, if only they weren't in the hospital.
"Angeline," Bryan called in a half-whisper.
"What?" asked Angeline with a blush on her face.
The two lovebirds have a red thread that connects them. So that it can send signals very quickly. Angeline could tell what Bryan was thinking. Bryan broadened his smile because Angeline had found out.
"What were you thinking about that made your face so red?" Bryan asked holding back his nervousness.
"Especially? I can feel your heart beating faster," Angeline answered shamelessly. Bryan laughed in embarrassment when he realized what his body's reaction could not hide from Angeline.
"Auntie said you were sick last night," Bryan said with a smile.
"Yes, the doctor said I wasn't sick, just a normal fever," Angeline said, smiling happily.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Bryan asked a little disappointed.
"How can I tell you? "You're very busy at work and I don't want to burden you," Angeline replied, worried about Bryan's condition, who had been very busy this past month.
"I can postpone work, but if you are sick. I won't be able to concentrate on work," Bryan said and took Angeline in his arms. He even tightened his hug until Angeline felt tight.
Angeline, feeling suffocated, pushed Bryan's body hard, causing Bryan to fall to the floor.
"Bryan!" Angeline screamed, stretching out her hand, which only floated in the air because Bryan was already slumped on the floor with an angry face.
"You're so heartless, it's sick, you know," Bryan said, looking annoyed and sad at the same time. He sat down and rubbed his sore back.
Angeline held back her laughter and started to help Bryan up, but Bryan's gaze stopped Angeline. He turned his head and was surprised to see a confused nurse standing at the door.
"Good morning, sis," Bryan said as he stood up and straightened his clothes. Angeline did the same and watched as the nurse just smiled and then went about her business of checking on Angeline's mother.
"We will be taking the patient to surgery, please sign the surgery today," the nurse said, giving Angeline a document to sign.
Angeline signed it immediately and handed it to the nurse. The nurse took Angeline's mother to prepare for the surgery.
Angeline and Bryan followed the nurse to the front of the operating room.
"Please wait here," the nurse said as she held Angeline.
Angeline looked anxious and worried, Bryan patted Angeline on the shoulder so that Angeline would be patient and wait calmly for the operation.
Bryan's cell phone rang, John was calling him.
"How's it going?" Bryan asked about John's actions with Kayle, who had been caught following the two of them.
"She admitted that at first he just wanted to get back at Mrs. Angeline because he didn't like Mrs. Angeline. However, when he found out that you and Mrs. Rose were not on good terms, she thought she could gain some advantage by reporting what she knew to Mrs. Rose."
"What? So... Mrs. Rose is the mastermind behind all this?"
"Half yes and half no."
"You mean?"
"I told you, because Kayle knows about the bad relationship between you and Mrs. Rose, she tried to blackmail Mrs. Rose by reporting Mrs. Angeline's closeness to Nicolas. And your relationship with Mrs. Angeline doesn't look like a harmonious one."
"Nicolas? Who is he?"
"The gardener who comes every day to help Mrs. Angeline with her gardening."
"Ah... that man. But I don't think Angeline has anything to do with him."
"I don't think so either, but I'm still investigating the truth. What is important is that Mrs. Rose turned the tables and threatened Kayle to use her."
"Use Kayle? What is he after?"
"Proof that you and Angeline are only in a contract marriage. Maybe he thought that before he knew the reality. But he lacks proof. Chairman, we have to be more careful now. Nobody knows what Mrs. Rose will do to you and Mrs. Angeline. And..."
"What else?" Bryan asked, surprised because John's words were cut off as if he was unsure if he should say it or not.
"Mrs. Rose is having a branch opening and has invited all the top officials and their wives. I think you should attend tonight with Mrs. Angeline."
"What? But Angeline's mother is in surgery and it could be more than twenty hours. It's now... half past seven in the morning. The surgery will be done in half an hour. That means the operation will be completed around... tonight or tomorrow morning."
"The thing is, can you bring Mrs. Angeline to the event tonight?" asked John, who was also very confused.
Bryan frowned in confusion. Bryan was sure that Angeline would not want to leave her mother who was in surgery.
"Okay, I'll try to talk to him," Bryan concluded, leaning against the wall behind him.
"What is it? You look very serious," asked Angeline, who had been watching for a long time. They were too far away, so Angeline couldn't hear Bryan's conversation with John.
