Chapter 67. The Decision
Angeline regained her composure and decided to enter the house, but Bryan stopped her. Bryan grabbed her arm, causing Sera to look at them in surprise.
"Let me go, take her somewhere nice. The rain is getting heavier," Angeline said.
"No, I will tell the truth," Bryan said, already having made his decision.
"What do you mean?" Angeline asked confused.
"Bryan... are you going to take her inside? In that case, I'll wait in your car," Sera said, reaching for the door.
"Sera... listen to me. I... can't be with you anymore. I'm married to Angeline and I... can't leave her," Bryan stopped Sera.
Angeline was shocked when she heard Bryan's words. She couldn't even bring herself to look at Sera. She knew that the woman's heart must be broken by this reality.
"What do you mean? Aren't we trying to get back together?" Sera asked, barely able to believe it.
Sera immediately felt weak and the umbrella she was holding slipped out of her hand. Bryan held Sera's hand.
"Please... I beg you... just say this is a lie. You've always done what I asked. You've always been like this."
"Sorry," Bryan could only answer Sera's statements with a single word. He looked at Sera with regret in his eyes, regret for letting things come to this.
Sera decided to leave and Bryan followed her. He stopped Sera by grabbing her arm.
"Are you heartless? I know that your marriage is only a contract. How do you feel when you see me even though you're married to her? Do you enjoy it?"
"I am going to have a child, and Angeline is the mother of my child. And I've begun to love her," Bryan said. Sera remained silent; her lips could not utter a word. Her heart was deeply wounded, and the rain made it all the more painful.
The situation became even more complicated, and Angeline, who was there, could only remain silent, not knowing what to do. All three of them felt deeply hurt by what was happening.
Now, in his own room, Bryan watches the video of romantic memories with Sera.
Sera, the woman he loves but cannot have. He also opens the gift Sera brought earlier, a pair of cufflinks meant for him. Bryan finds a letter with the gift.
"How do you like them, Bryan? I was so happy to find this gift. It must be perfect for you. I imagine these cufflinks will shine beside you. When you sign contracts or wave your hand on your way to work, it makes me so happy that I shed tears. Don't let them get lost. The cufflinks will be useless if one is missing. Just like you and me, Bryan."
Bryan fell silent, tears welling up inside him. His body shook as he tried to hold back the tears that finally broke out. His crying sounded incredibly painful, the tears of sorrow that Bryan felt right now.
Meanwhile, Angeline was sitting in Bryan's room. As if sensing Bryan's sadness and the weight of his burden from all that had happened, she shared in Bryan's grief. She cried because she knew that Bryan must be crying in that room.
The next day, Bryan finished his shower. He looked at the suit his wife had picked out for him that morning. Every morning for the past week, Angeline had picked out the suit he would wear to work. The same was true this morning. However, Bryan decided not to touch the clothes.
Angeline accompanied her husband as he waited for the company car. She noticed that Bryan wasn't wearing the outfit she had prepared that morning and she felt disappointed, but she tried to smile. Even when Bryan got into the car and didn't say a word to Angeline, she could only watch as his car drove away, waving goodbye on her own.
Angeline's phone rang; it was a call from Grandma.
"Hello, Grandma, it's unusual for you to call. How are you?" Angeline greeted as she answered her phone.
"Angeline, do you have any plans today? Because Grandma is hosting a charity event tonight and I would like you to join me."
"Sure, Grandma, I'll let Bryan know and I'll come by your house this afternoon," Angeline agreed without hesitation.
"Okay, Grandma will be waiting."
"Yes, I'll do my best not to embarrass Grandma."
"Since you married Bryan, Grandma can't do anything for you. You must hate Bryan because he's been cold to you?"
"No, I hope Bryan can bear this situation. I really want to help him, but there's nothing I can do for him," Angeline replied, sounding quite sad.
"All right then, Grandma will make you some delicious food later."
"Thank you, Grandma. See you later."
Tonight Angeline looked stunning. She attended the charity event with Grandma, who proudly introduced her granddaughter-in-law to all the guests she met at the charity event tonight.
"Wow, your granddaughter is so beautiful. How did she get such a woman?" the guests praised Angeline, who smiled sweetly.
"Hello, I'm Angeline," Angeline said softly and politely, enchanting everyone with her pleasant demeanor.
"Grandma, can we have a private word?" a man approached Grandma and asked her to have a quick private word.
"Oh, sure, Angeline, wait here," Grandma said, reluctantly leaving Angeline alone.
Angeline decided to enjoy the food provided at the charity event while she waited for Grandma to finish her conversation.
Suddenly, Angeline overheard the lady at the next table gossiping about her and the recent rumors circulating.
"Hey, it seems that Miss B is a shameful woman who looks innocent on the outside but is terrifying on the inside."
"That's right, she looks like an angel, but inside she's like a demon."
Angeline was disturbed by the gossip and wanted to leave. However, she accidentally bumped into her friend Sera, who had been pregnant some time ago.
"Oh, Angeline, why are you here? Are you here as Bryan's wife?" Agnes asked sarcastically.
"Agnes, you're here too? I'm here because Grandma invited me," Angeline replied.
"Is that so?"
"Well, excuse me," Angeline said politely as she decided to leave Agnes.
"Wait a minute, can you get rid of this glass?" Agnes handed her a glass.
"Sure," Angeline agreed without hesitation.
Then Agnes suddenly splashed the contents of the glass in Angeline's face.
"Oops! But I did it on purpose. So you wouldn't live like this. I'm really ashamed of you as a woman."
Obviously, everyone in the room began to pay attention to Angeline. She felt extremely frustrated, but she tried to hide her anger.
Suddenly, someone handed her a handkerchief. Angeline took it without looking at who it was. When she looked at the person, she realized that it was the man she had taken to London, the man who had hurt her heart, the same man who was her co-worker.
