Chapter 69 - Reunion
Now in a different location, Bryan played soft music on his cell phone and placed it on the hood of his car. Once he was sure the music was playing softly, Bryan approached Angeline. Angeline looked beautiful in the moonlight.
"Angeline, do you remember when we used to dance?" Bryan asked.
"I do, why?" Angeline replied.
"We're so beautifully dressed up, there's no harm in dancing for a while before we go home. Why don't we make some nice memories here?" Bryan suggested.
Bryan smiled sweetly at Angeline and she returned the smile. She also accepted Bryan's outstretched hand, ready to dance.
Bryan placed both of Angeline's hands on his shoulders, and his hands gracefully encircled her slender waist. Their bodies moved closer and closer. You could even smell the perfume they wore. Angeline followed Bryan's lead.
"Angeline."
Suddenly Bryan called Angeline's name softly and counted with his fingers. At the count of three, the sound of fireworks and beautiful colors adorned the night sky. Angeline looked at the beauty with her beautiful eyes. She was truly mesmerized.
"Do you like it?" Bryan asked. Angeline smiled and nodded happily.
"I really like it. Everything is so beautiful."
Not far away, John, who had been hiding, made an "okay" sign with his fingers and looked at his boss with Angeline. John smiled happily as he witnessed the couple's joy. It turned out that Bryan had an assistant in his hiding place. It was this assistant and John who were helping Bryan prepare for the event.
"President Bryan is really nice, isn't he? Mrs. Angeline is very beautiful too," John said with a big smile.
"Yes, they make a harmonious couple."
"But what am I doing here? I should have gone home, shouldn't I?" the assistant continued, looking confused. John just cleared his throat and turned his attention back to Bryan and Angeline, who seemed to be enjoying their evening together.
With Bryan's chosen music as their accompaniment, they danced so gracefully.
"Angeline, I must have given you a hard time, didn't I?" Bryan asked, looking melancholy.
"No, I know the time you've been through has been harder than mine," Angeline replied, shaking her head.
"You know, I didn't avoid you because I hated you. It wasn't because of that. I just felt regret. But now I'm ready to be with you again. That's why I kept my distance. Thank you... for waiting for me. And... thank you for being with me now."
Angeline cried when she heard Bryan's confession. For days she had been questioning the meaning of their relationship. Were they really just a contractual arrangement and what did their time together mean?
Bryan wiped the tears from Angeline's cheek with his fingers. He did it gently. Such a sweet gesture only made Angeline's tears flow more. Bryan looked at the tears falling on his wife's cheeks and moved his lips closer to Angeline's cheek. This time he wiped away the tears with a warm kiss.
It was then that Angeline spoke.
"The nicer he is to me, the more I worry. The nicer he is to me... and the harder he tries to be good to me, the more I worry. I'm afraid I've put too much hope in him. I'm afraid I'm starting to think that he's starting to like me. And I'm afraid... I might not be able to let go on the day we agreed."
Under the beautiful fireworks that lit up the night sky, Bryan embraced Angeline's petite body. And Angeline became even more afraid of her growing desire to possess Bryan completely.
Their romantic evening had come to an end, and now Angeline seemed to have fallen asleep. Bryan climbed onto the bed and checked to see if Angeline was really asleep. It turned out that Angeline was still awake tonight.
Bryan seemed to know that Angeline hadn't really fallen asleep, so he asked her.
"Are you asleep yet?" Angeline remained silent.
"Hmm, do you remember when you were crying earlier? I... was confused what to do, I wanted to wipe away your tears. But, I don't know why, I ended up being confused and kissed your cheek. Don't misunderstand, I won't be careless from now on. I promise I won't touch you unless you allow me to."
Angeline chuckled when she heard Bryan's awkward attempt to explain the intimate kiss on her cheek.
"I know, you don't have to explain," Angeline replied, not wanting to confuse Bryan any more. Bryan was pleased and Angeline smiled.
"Bryan, good night."
"Yes, good night, Angeline," Bryan replied with the same sentence.
Bryan seemed restless, his hand eager to touch Angeline, to embrace her. Imagine, they were in the same bed, but he couldn't hold Angeline's petite body. Bryan struggled to keep his hand from moving closer and closer to Angeline's body.
But it seemed that Bryan's brain and hand were not in sync, as his hand kept moving toward Angeline's body, and his common sense tried hard to stop it. Bryan seemed to be tormented by this situation.
Bryan had already fallen deeply asleep, his hand moving involuntarily. Angeline watched and smiled, finding Bryan's sleeping behavior quite amusing. She adjusted Bryan's blanket and lay down next to him, looking at his peaceful sleeping face.
"Is it okay...if you want it?"
The next morning, Angeline accompanied Bryan to work as usual. Bryan's chauffeur-driven car was waiting outside. As Bryan was getting into the car, he suddenly approached Angeline and pointed to his cheek. Angeline was confused and didn't understand Bryan's gesture.
"What's wrong with my cheek?" Angeline asked, thinking there was something on her cheek. Bryan laughed at Angeline's reaction.
"You're really slow at picking up on my hints. But actually, your slowness makes you all the more charming," Bryan praised, and Angeline blushed with embarrassment.
Bryan decided not to ask Angeline to kiss him on the cheek; instead, he went to the car and prepared to leave. Suddenly, Angeline grabbed Bryan's hand, stopped him in his tracks, and kissed him on the cheek.
After kissing Bryan's cheek, Angeline felt embarrassed and covered her face with her hand.
Bryan laughed happily and felt weak in his knees. He even had to hold on to the front door of his house. He laughed as he touched the cheek that Angeline had just kissed. Angeline blushed even more.
"Bryan, can I come to the office for lunch today?"
"Oh, really?" Bryan asked, still a bit shaky from the effects of the kiss.
Angeline nodded in agreement and Bryan complimented her gesture.
"I really like it when you're like this, Angeline. It feels like having a real wife," Bryan said, blushing and smiling. Angeline became even more shy and lowered her head.
"But, did you know that the distance from the cheek to the lips is only one inch, so... are you..."
Bryan stopped himself and quickly got into his car. He was too nervous and asked the driver to start the car immediately. Angeline just waved goodbye and watched as Bryan drove away.
