Chapter 64 - The Return of the Ex
Bryan and Angeline had just finished a pregnancy class when suddenly Angeline's stomach rumbled, a sign of hunger.
"I've been looking forward to this. Let's have lunch together. What would Angeline like to eat?" Bryan asked enthusiastically.
"Hmm... what do I want? I think I'd like some thinly sliced raw stingray," Angeline replied after thinking for a while.
"Are you sure you want to eat that?" Bryan asked puzzled.
"Yes, I've seen rich people eat this kind of food and I've never tasted it before."
"All right, let's have it now," Bryan said. Angeline smiled happily as her craving was about to be satisfied.
Now they were in a sashimi restaurant and Bryan ordered a menu of fresh sliced raw fish for Angeline.
When her order arrived, Angeline looked at it in amazement and delight. She couldn't wait to eat it.
"Please enjoy," Bryan said as he tried to taste a slice of raw stingray.
Originally they had planned to eat together, but Bryan could only cover his nose because he couldn't stand the smell of the stingray. Meanwhile, Angeline continued to eat eagerly.
"Why don't you eat? Don't you like the food?" Angeline asked in surprise.
"You really are unique. Your taste is also unique. How can you eat all those fish so eagerly?" Bryan asked and took a sip of his drink.
Angeline just smiled and looked at Bryan. Suddenly, her eyes caught the wedding ring on her husband's ring finger. Angeline felt unbelievably happy when she saw it.
"Oh, by the way, have you decided on a name for our baby? Just a nickname, not the actual name," Angeline asked, remembering the PR given by the maternity class instructor.
"Actually, I hadn't thought about it, but suddenly a name came to me. So how about we decide now? Do you have any ideas, Angeline?"
"I've thought about it, what about 'Semesta'?" Angeline replied hopefully.
Bryan burst out laughing, and you could see two cotton balls in Bryan's nostrils to block out the stingray smell.
"I don't like that name. Are you saying she's everything?" Bryan asked.
"Why not? Some say a nickname is a prayer. Semesta, a good name means everything, everything. I would give anything to bring 'Semesta' into this world," Angeline said, her eyes twinkling.
"All right, if you've decided, let's call her 'Semesta,'" Bryan conceded, agreeing to the name.
After lunch, Bryan wanted to take Angeline home. But Angeline refused, suggesting that Bryan drop her off at the office first.
"It is only ten minutes from here to your office, while the walk to the house is quite far. So it's better to go to your office first," Angeline suggested and Bryan nodded in agreement.
When they arrived at the office, Bryan, who had already gotten out of the car, suddenly turned around and asked Angeline to open the window.
"Why?" Angeline asked, confused.
"Do you want to look around my office? No one would have recognized you when you came in," Bryan offered, and Angeline seemed a little hesitant.
"Is that okay?" Angeline asked.
"It's fine, come on!"
Angeline got out of the car and followed Bryan's footsteps. All the staff watched their arrival and whispered in admiration. Angeline's beauty was undeniable and made them look like a perfectly matched couple.
Realizing this, Angeline walked a little behind Bryan, trying to keep her distance.
"Everyone is looking at us. I'll follow you discreetly," Angeline whispered.
"Angeline, remember, you're not a post-it girl anymore. So don't hide behind me. Walk confidently at my side," Bryan instructed.
Angeline smiled as Bryan held her hand. They walked together to the elevator. Angeline was nervous because Bryan was being romantic again. She felt like Bryan's girlfriend, proudly on display.
Bryan didn't hesitate to show her his affection and they exchanged shy smiles.
However, Bryan was in for a surprise when he entered his office. He saw someone sitting in his chair and was shocked. It was Sera, who had unexpectedly returned, even though they hadn't communicated since their last meeting a few days ago.
"Bryan," Sera exclaimed without noticing Angeline, and she immediately rushed to hug Bryan.
"I missed you so much, Bryan. After thinking about it, I realized that our relationship isn't over. Maybe it's our destiny to be together again," Sera said hopefully.
Angeline could only stand there with mixed feelings. She decided to leave quietly, turned around and started to walk away.
"Don't go," Bryan begged as he let go of Sera's embrace. Angeline stopped her steps.
"Ah, forgive me. I didn't know you came here with her," Sera said, giving Angeline an uncomfortable look.
"Sera, shouldn't you have come after informing me?" Bryan asked while standing next to Angeline, making Sera realize that she couldn't be with Bryan anymore.
"I thought your relationship wasn't that close. Forgive me for interrupting your time together," Sera said and left Bryan's office.
Angeline looked uncomfortable and looked at Bryan.
"Aren't you going to go after her?" Angeline asked and Bryan felt a sense of déjà vu.
"Angeline, I'm sorry. Can you wait here for a minute?" Bryan asked with a worried look on his face. He knew that Sera wasn't in a good mood right now.
"Go ahead, I can go home by myself," Angeline said and Bryan hurriedly left her.
Bryan followed Sera, who was walking towards the lobby. She walked slowly, as if waiting.
"Sera," Bryan called, stopping Sera in her tracks.
Sera turned around, smiling broadly, and ran quickly to hug Bryan, immediately tucking his head under her armpit.
"Are you glad to see me again?" Sera asked.
"You've become even stronger," Bryan said as he broke free of Sera's grip.
"So what's your answer?" Sera demanded. But Bryan just turned around and invited Sera to a nearby cafe.
"I moved nearby. Would you like to have coffee there?" Sera asked. Bryan looked confused and felt that he didn't have much of a choice.
Now they were in Sera's apartment and both felt uncomfortable.
"This place is very nice. What about the foundation you run?" Bryan asked.
Sera didn't answer Bryan's question and immediately hugged him from behind and said, "It's so relaxing... I feel alive again.
"From now on there's only Bryan. I'm going to put Bryan before the Foundation because I can't imagine my life without you," Sera continued, and Bryan could only smile, unable to answer.
