Chapter 39 - Morning Sickness
Bryan sat in the chair next to Angeline's bed. He looked at Angeline with sorrow. Bryan held Angeline's hand and hoped that Angeline would wake up soon so that he could tell her that all the problems had been solved.
Slowly Angeline's eyes opened as if Bryan's wish had come true. Bryan was surprised and looked at Angeline's face.
"Angeline... are you okay? Are you still sick?"
"Mother... how is my mother?" asked Angeline. The first thing she was worried about was her mother's condition.
"Your mother's operation went smoothly and successfully. The operation was completed an hour ago," Bryan said. Angeline tried to look at the clock on the wall, but she was still dizzy and couldn't see it properly.
"What time is it now?"
"One o'clock in the evening, the operation will be over sooner. You don't have to worry about it anymore. Michael is there to accompany your mother," Bryan said reassuringly.
"Thank God, I was really worried about my mom."
"Your condition is even more worrying. You shouldn't have come if you're sick. People will believe you because you don't lie," Bryan said, annoyed that Angeline was hiding her pain.
"I'm fine after taking the medicine, then... what happened to the company? I must have put you in a dangerous situation."
Angeline held back her tears, feeling guilty for making a mistake and getting Bryan into deep trouble. She should never have gotten close to Nicolas when she found out that the gardener was a man.
Angeline never thought that her relationship with Nicolas would backfire and hurt Bryan.
"You don't have to worry about it. It's all over, we know the truth. And John is working on finding out who's behind it all. So don't blame yourself and concentrate on getting better," Bryan said, very worried about Angeline.
"I'm sorry, I should have been more careful."
"No, I should be the one to apologize. You must be very lonely at home. I'm too busy to go home."
The two couples apologized to each other and regretted all the circumstances that had happened. The regret they felt made them just stare at each other because they didn't know what else to say.
They were so worried about each other that with just one look, they began to accept and forgive everything.
The doctor entered Angeline's room with the results of Angeline's examination.
"Sorry to disturb you, Mrs. Angeline, it looks like you're awake," the doctor said, checking Angeline's condition.
"Everything is fine and there are no serious problems. Mrs. Angeline just needed to rest for a few days in the hospital to get Mrs. Angeline's health back. And... the results of the ultrasound that we did... congratulations, you are going to be parents," the doctor said, surprising them both.
There were no happy faces between them, Angeline was too shocked to say anything. The doctors and nurses were amazed at their reaction.
"Thank you Doc, we will take care of the baby as best we can," Bryan said in a weak voice.
The faces of the two were very different when they heard that Angeline was fine. But he seemed unhappy when he heard about Angeline's pregnancy.
"Then have a good rest," the doctor said and left.
The situation for both of them became gloomy and did not look happy. Angeline's pregnancy is not a happy news considering the contract between them. Their time together will be counted down from now on.
"Congratulations, soon you will have a child," Angeline said with a voice trembling with tears.
Bryan didn't say anything, just straightened Angeline's blanket.
"Go back to sleep, it's late," Bryan said and left the room.
Bryan was thoughtful and began to worry about something. Bryan is confused about the whole situation. He had not expected that Angeline's pregnancy would not last long. Just wait another year, then their contract will end perfectly.
The next morning, Angeline woke up and did not see Bryan. He also decided to leave his room and come to his mother's ward. They happened to be in the same hospital. So Angeline was able to see her mother, who was conscious and talking to her sister.
Tears flowed when she saw her mother recovering and looking healthy. Angeline wanted to go in and hug her mother, but her hand stopped. He realized that his mother could not see his appearance.
If his mother finds out that he is sick, all his disguises will be revealed. Angeline cannot break the contract. Yesterday he was able to meet his mother and sister because Bryan took them there. But this time Angeline couldn't meet them at all and returned to her room.
His feelings were very sad and hurt, on the one hand he was happy to see his mother recovering. But on the other hand, Angeline still has to finish her contract and live her pregnancy well.
In the room, Angeline, who had no appetite, started vomiting again and felt nauseous. Angeline was still very weak and couldn't move much. The nurse who knew Angeline's condition examined her and took good care of her.
"Ah, my stomach hurts so much, why do I keep vomiting like this? He said I must eat to get well quickly. But just one spoonful makes me feel really nauseous," Angeline complained and vomited what was in her stomach again.
"I will call the doctor to check your condition, wait a moment," the nurse said and left Angeline's room.
Angeline felt very weak and found it difficult to stand up, her face never got better and was still pale. Angeline felt more tortured than usual.
Bryan came when he was called by the hospital about Angeline's not so good condition.
"What happened to my wife, Doc?" Bryan asked as the doctor finished checking Angeline's condition.
"This is a pregnancy condition, Mrs. Angeline has morning sickness and that can last for the first three months. For now, I have given Mrs. Angeline some medicine for nausea and vitamins to take. We'll see in a day or two. "If Mrs. Angeline's condition improves, she can go home.
Bryan looked worriedly at Angeline who was sleeping limply. He didn't know what to do to help Angeline, who looked very sad.
"If you are pregnant, will all women be like this? What should I do? "Knowing this, it's better not to get pregnant," Bryan muttered and Angeline woke up from her sleep.
"Why are you talking like that?" asked Angeline, who obviously just heard Bryan's words.
"Did you hear that? Don't get up yet," Bryan said and left Angeline lying there.
"I heard that all women are like that when they are pregnant. Even if some people don't experience it, it's a normal thing. So why do you sound sorry? Isn't this what you wanted?" asked Angeline with a blank look on her face.
