Chapter 71 - The Agreement
Angeline was really sad about what Sera had told her. However, she didn't say much because her relationship with Bryan was still outlined in the contract.
Before she left, Sera asked Angeline not to tell Bryan about their meeting today.
"I don't want Bryan to know. So I hope you can understand and cooperate with me about our meeting today," Sera asked. Angeline nodded to show that she understood.
"Alright then, I'll take my leave," Sera said and stood up, leaving Angeline behind.
Alex was still waiting for Angeline in front of the cafe. And he accidentally bumped into Sera.
"Ah, sorry," Alex said. Sera just gave him a sarcastic look and didn't react to Alex' apology.
After a few steps, Sera's mother suddenly appeared and approached Sera. Angeline had just come out and was surprised to see Alex waiting for her all this time.
"Mom? Why are you here?" Sera asked, confused.
Suddenly, Sera's mother slapped Sera's cheek, obviously shocking Angeline and Alex.
"MOM!" Sera shouted angrily.
"Did my slap hurt?" her mother said cruelly. Sera couldn't answer; she could only hold back her tears. It seemed that this was not the first time Sera had received such harsh treatment.
"You should go to the airport right now. When will you stop doing such stupid things? Have you forgotten how hard it is to be a model?" her mother scolded loudly, catching the attention of everyone there, including Angeline and Alex.
Sera couldn't answer; she was too embarrassed, knowing that Angeline and Alex had seen her from a distance. She left immediately, followed by her mother.
Alex finally found out who Sera was.
Now they were both at Alex's café. Angeline decided to get off at Alex's café and go home alone.
"You are such a fool, Angeline! Why did you have to meet Sera when it's clear that she's Bryan's ex?"
"I'm not stupid. At least I had to meet Sera, if only once. I also have to apologize to her. I'd better go home now," Angeline replied.
"Don't do that. Going home like this will only make you suffer more when you see Bryan. It will be a burden on you until you make a decision," Alex advised, his eyes glaring with a furrowed brow.
"But why do you look so angry?" Angeline asked, confused.
"I don't know why I should be angry. But every time I think about Bryan doing unpleasant things to you, I get angrier. And I'm angry at myself because I can't do anything for you. All I can do is watch you suffer."
"Don't be like that. It's nobody's fault," Angeline said.
"It's me; I'm like this because I care about you."
"Okay, I want to go home."
"Wait, stay here for a while. I'll make you something to eat," Alex said and led Angeline into the cafe.
After the meal Alex prepared, he saw Angeline sleeping with her head resting on her hand, which was placed on the table. Alex approached Angeline. He looked at her sleeping face.
"Why did you choose the hard way, Angeline? I don't want to see you hurt again," Alex said sadly.
Meanwhile, Bryan arrived home.
Alex gently asked Angeline, "Mrs... why didn't you come out with me?"
With a teasing tone, Angeline replied, "Of all of them, you're the best.
Alex even pulled Angeline's waist closer to him. Angeline was surprised but very happy, so she rested her head on Alex's chest.
Alex seemed to notice Bryan's presence and gave Bryan a mocking look. Then he raised his upturned thumb gesture at Bryan.
Bryan muttered irritably and punched the air.
Angeline finally came home as well. She saw Bryan pacing on the porch. Angeline remembered Sera's words to her earlier, and thinking about them made her even sadder.
Bryan noticed Angeline's presence and Angeline wiped away her sad expression. She smiled warmly at her husband and they approached each other.
"Do you know what time it is? Why did Angeline come home so late? Is Angeline trying to drive me crazy?" Bryan asked irritably.
Angeline couldn't answer; instead, she immediately hugged Bryan. Bryan was surprised but returned the hug. Angeline finally apologized.
"I'm sorry, I promise I won't worry you anymore."
"I can't say anything more. Actually, I didn't want to forgive you so easily, Angeline," Bryan said, smiling happily.
The next day, John joined Bryan in the office. He told Bryan about the upcoming auction.
"So, is the CEO going to donate anything?" John asked.
"Yes. By the way, please ask Attorney Yasser to come to the office at two o'clock this afternoon," Bryan instructed.
"All right," John replied without hesitation.
Then Bryan looked at his watch and exclaimed with joy that his wife would soon be bringing him a sweet lunch. John fell silent and just watched, confused.
Knock, knock.
"Come in!"
Angeline finally arrived, carrying Bryan's lunch. This time, however, the rice she brought wasn't shaped like their faces.
"Why isn't it like usual?" Bryan asked, confused.
"Ah, I'm sorry, I'm a little busy today, but I'll make it for you again tomorrow," Angeline replied. Bryan smiled.
"That's okay, no problem. You don't have to bring lunch tomorrow because I'm taking Angeline out to dinner. There's an auction event I have to attend, so I want Angeline to come with me. After the event, I'm going to take Angeline out to dinner at a nice place," Bryan announced.
When Angeline returned home, she ran into lawyer Yasser. They decided to talk in a more private place.
"I already know about the divorce agreement letter. I shouldn't be doing this, but I'm worried about you. I came to the office today because the CEO asked me to amend the divorce agreement letter," said Attorney Yasser.
"I'm very grateful that Attorney Yasser is worried about me, but I'm really fine. Really. This was already an agreement between me and Bryan."
"All right, in that case, I'll take my leave."
After finishing the conversation with Angeline, Attorney Yasser returned to Bryan's office. Bryan was ready with the new content of the letter of agreement.
"I want the CEO to consider this decision," the attorney requested.
"Don't dictate to me! It's better if you just follow my words!" Bryan shouted in anger.
"All right," Attorney Yasser replied without further argument.
