Chapter 76 - Amnesia
"What are you talking about? Have we changed?" Bryan asked in surprise and Sera just hugged him tighter. Bryan returned the hug and smiled happily.
Angeline ran as fast as she could when she heard the news that Bryan was in the hospital, accompanied by Alex. Angeline stumbled upon the scene of Bryan and Sera embracing. Her steps stopped as she watched the romantic scene unfold before her. Sera noticed Angeline's arrival and immediately released Bryan from her embrace.
"Would you like some coffee?" Bryan asked and Sera nodded in agreement.
Bryan, unaware of Angeline's presence, walked past her. But not too far ahead, Bryan stopped and turned back to Angeline.
"Do you recognize me?"
Angeline fell silent, her mind trying to process what Bryan was experiencing.
"Yes, I recognize you."
"That's right, I've met you before. The relief driver," Bryan said. He hadn't completely forgotten Angeline, although he only remembered one incident where a strange woman insisted on driving him home and he fainted. That was the extent of his memory of Angeline before his amnesia.
"Did you faint again? Is the man with you a customer who had to take you to the hospital?"
Alex remained silent, unsure why Bryan was so casual. Bryan's behavior was strange and difficult to understand.
Now Sera and Angeline were sitting together. Sera explained everything about Bryan's current condition. Sera started to reveal her intentions.
"I want you to go back home. Dr. Edward himself advised me not to force Bryan to remember things he has forgotten because it would be harmful to him," Sera indirectly asked Angeline to stop being around Bryan and remind him of their marriage.
Angeline didn't answer. She just looked at Sera with a sad and disbelieving expression. How could she be asked not to see Bryan? Bryan was the father of her unborn child. How could Sera casually order her to do something that was impossible for her to do?
A nurse checked Bryan's blood pressure.
"You must be very uncomfortable."
"Yes, the weather is so hot."
"That's because it's summer," the nurse said, smiling and confirming.
"What do you mean? It can't be summer in May!"
"Because it's not May, it's July."
"Don't joke! It can't be July. It's May!"
The nurse didn't want to argue and just smiled wryly at Bryan.
"Here are all your things," the nurse said. Before she left, she handed Bryan his personal items that were with him when he was admitted to the hospital. Bryan accepted them.
Bryan looked through everything until he found a ring. He looked at the ring in confusion.
"It looks like this ring isn't mine," Bryan muttered in confusion.
Alex drove Angeline home. Before Angeline got out of the car, she thanked Alex for the day.
"Is Angeline okay with Bryan forgetting about her? I'm really upset because Bryan only brings trouble."
"No. Bryan's troubles are much harder than mine," Angeline replied.
"I'm sure Bryan will soon remember me and Semesta. I'm going in now. Be careful on the road," Angeline said again and went into her house.
That night, after arriving home, Alex opened the photos of Angeline that he had. For some reason, seeing Angeline not smiling like she usually did made him feel the same pain.
Angeline was still very sad. As she gently stroked Semesta in her belly, Angeline spoke in her heart.
"Today has been a long day for Mama. Dad, who has never been sick before, looked very weak today. I saw him at the hospital. Dad, who always protected Mom. Semesta will also pray for Dad to remember him, right?"
Suddenly, a message from Alex came to Angeline's phone.
[Angeline, there are 10 minutes left until your birthday, even though I may not be the first to wish you a happy birthday, but I want to be the last. Happy birthday, Angeline. From now on, every day of yours will be filled with happiness.]
The second message came to Angeline's phone, again from Alex. This time Alex was sending a video to Angeline. Although she was confused, Angeline played the video. It turned out to be a video of Angeline's sweet face dancing. Angeline smiled as she watched it. Alex's simple gift was truly comforting.
"Thank you, Alex, for wishing me a happy birthday," Angeline whispered as she continued to watch Alex's video message.
"Happy birthday, Bryan," Angeline added, remembering Bryan.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Sera, after thinking for a while, finally explained Bryan's true condition.
"So I have temporary amnesia? How could that happen to me? But if I only lost the memory of the last year, it's not too bad. I can ask John about business matters, and for personal matters, I can ask you, Sera."
Sera couldn't answer. She felt a little guilty because a lot had happened in the past year. Her relationship ended because of Bryan's marriage, and then Bryan married Angeline. In the meantime, she had gotten a divorce and wanted to stay by Bryan's side.
Sera admitted that she had been very selfish to take advantage of Bryan's condition. But her heart had suffered and hurt over the past year. Her decision to leave Bryan was one she deeply regretted. Even if Bryan ended up hating her once he found out everything, Sera would accept it because she just wanted to be with Bryan as much as possible.
"So, did Sera come to London? Did I successfully propose to you, Sera?" Bryan asked, smiling broadly and laughing, believing that he had successfully proposed to Sera.
"Forgive me, Sera, for making Bryan wait so long. I will quit my job and live with you. Forever," Sera said, choking back tears.
Bryan was thrilled and immediately hugged Sera. He felt false happiness because he did not know what was really happening. Sera cried and blamed herself. But there was nothing Sera could do. She couldn't bear to lose Bryan again.
Sera would do anything to spend time with Bryan until he knew the truth, whether his memory returned or someone informed him.
Bryan just smiled and hugged her tightly. He felt incredibly happy, thinking he had found happiness with his lover. Unbeknownst to him, Angeline was feeling lonely and sad on the other side.
