Chapter 91 - Lies
In the taxi on the way to her meeting with Alex and Alex's sister, Angeline looked deeply sorry and sad.
"No, what I did to Bryan before was right. At least he deserves to know Jason's name, his child."
Angeline tried to smile, but her expression said otherwise. She regretted that she had been so cold to Bryan.
When she arrived at the restaurant where she was to meet Alex, Angeline happened to see Alex's sister accompanied by the man from the detective agency who had introduced Alex and his sister. They seemed affectionate.
"You'd better behave well, because anyway, Alex has a lot of money, and it's enough for both of us," the detective said.
"Of course, I'm very happy to use it that way," Angel replied.
And Angeline heard everything clearly. The fake Angel and her boyfriend did not know that Angeline was watching them from a distance.
Now the three of them were together.
"Oh my, how can there be two Angels in front of me? And that makes me not hungry at all," Alex exclaimed happily.
"Sister, I'm getting married soon," Angel said with a fake smile.
"Well, congratulations, Angel. I hope your wedding goes well," Angeline congratulated her.
"Yes, thank you," Angel replied with an unfriendly look.
"Ka Alex, if I don't have parents and no skills, I will definitely be the saddest bride from the first day of my marriage."
"Why do you talk like that? Don't worry, I'll take care of all your wedding needs, Angel."
"Really?"
Suddenly, Alex received an important phone call, so he had to leave.
After being left alone with the fake Angel, Angeline was honest about what she knew.
"I don't think you're the real Angel. I saw everything outside the restaurant earlier. Are you sure your lie won't be exposed?" Angeline said in a slightly threatening tone.
"What do you mean? That guy is my boyfriend, what's wrong with that?"
"Then why don't you be honest with Alex if you already know the guy from the detective agency? Look, DNA tests can be wrong, so I will do another DNA test. Even though it's very uncomfortable for you, don't resist. If you're real, there's nothing to be afraid of. Alex has been looking for his sister for a long time, so don't deceive or hurt him. He's special to me and I owe him a lot. So I'm not going to let this go," Angeline said boldly and grabbed Angel's empty glass.
The fake Angel got angry. She didn't accept what Angeline was doing.
"What's wrong with Alex helping me and my friend, we are both orphans?"
"It's better to threaten him with a knife and ask him for money than to do this. Do you know what the worst thing in the world is? Taking advantage of someone's sincerity. That's something you shouldn't do between people.
Angel became increasingly angry as he listened to Angeline's tirade.
"What right does Angeline have to meddle in my affairs?" Angel retorted and tried to grab the glass Angeline was about to use for the DNA test. Angeline held on with all her might until the glass fell and shattered. At that moment, Alex appeared.
"What were you talking about?" Alex asked with a disappointed look on his face. He had heard everything.
Alex was hurt, deeply hurt. He had never expected to be manipulated like this. Angeline comforted Alex.
"I thought it was the last time. I thought I had finally found my sister, but it turns out I was deceived. Don't I look stupid?" Alex said, holding back tears.
Angeline shook her head and held Alex's hand. "Why does the victim look foolish? It's the perpetrator who looks stupid," Angeline said. Exposed, the fake Angel walked away in fear.
"Every time I come here, I always come to this place. Every time I sit here, I always hope to meet my sister.
Alex was sad when he shared this with Angeline. He blamed himself for leaving Angeline alone that day. Angeline couldn't say anything. She just held Alex's hand gently.
"Alex, it wasn't your fault at all. You were just a child who needed love and affection. I want you to forgive yourself for being a child."
"Angeline, I want to stop looking for my sister. I just want to believe that my sister is happy somewhere. I want to start living my own life. I want to start my own family."
Angeline was stunned; she knew where Alex's conversation was going. She understood his intentions very well.
That night, Bella, also known as Bryan, sent another message to Ellie, also known as Angeline.
[Good evening, Ellie.]
[Good evening, Bella.]
[Why isn't Ellie asleep yet?]
[I'm a little worried.]
[Do you want to talk to me? I'm willing to listen because I'm Ellie's number one fan.]
[I feel bad because the person I'm going to talk about isn't someone Bella knows.]
[Hmm... wouldn't it be more comfortable if we didn't know each other? Ellie can tell me freely].
After all, their texting activities were the same as the nights before, where they seemed to communicate directly, which of course Angeline was unaware of, since Bella was actually Bryan.
[A man named Alex accidentally proposed to me.]
"What?" Bryan exclaimed, or rather, panicked.
[How did Ellie feel when this man proposed to her?]
[In the last three years... if I want to start a family, then he is the one I imagine living with me].
Bryan was shocked when he heard Angeline say that. His body immediately became weak. His hope was gone.
[But when I hear this man propose to me in person, I'm starting to get confused about what to do. Should I accept his proposal or not?]
Bryan was somewhat relieved to know Angeline's thoughts.
[Angeline should take as much time as she needs to think about it. After all, marriage is no joke.] Bryan, as Bella, deliberately said this so that Angeline could reject Alex's proposal.
[What you're saying makes sense. I have to think about this a lot. But why do I feel comfortable talking to you like this?] [Well, maybe it's because I'm older than Ellie. Also, I'm Ellie's number one fan, so I know a lot about Ellie's life.]
"Bella, can I call you sis?" Angeline asked.
Bryan was taken aback and confused as to how to respond. He remained silent, thinking that it was better to be born a woman because it allowed him to be so close to Angeline.
"Okay, you can call me that."
Bryan finally agreed, thinking that even though he couldn't be Angeline's lover again, it was okay to be her sister. To be able to connect with Angeline in this way was already very fulfilling for him.
"Thank you, Sis Bella. I'm really glad I can talk to you."
"Yes, good night. Have sweet dreams."
Bryan ended their text conversation and decided to go to sleep.
