Chapter 166: Finding a Place to Hide
Benjamin was worried about Martina's safety, so he casually checked the location on his phone. To his surprise, Martina seemed to have been lingering at the bar for quite some time.
Then he rushed over in a hurry and happened to witness someone bullying his woman, and the rest was history, witnessed by everyone present.
Thank goodness Benjamin had taken a quick glance at the location earlier; otherwise, the worst things might have happened, and he wouldn't have arrived so timely.
Now, as he looked at the woman in front of him, asking him questions, his facial expression seemed a bit unnatural.
Fortunately, Benjamin was an experienced person, and his series of reactions made it clear that he wasn't someone easily read by others.
With a slight smile, he seemed to intentionally change the subject, saying, "I just happened to have some business to attend to."
Martina couldn't believe it; she figured that Leslie must have informed Benjamin in advance, which was why he arrived so timely.
Besides that, she couldn't think of any other way. It couldn't just be a coincidence that Benjamin happened to be nearby on some errand. There was no way he could know she was in the bar and come to her rescue at exactly that moment.
Benjamin noticed that Martina didn't inquire further, so he didn't bring it up again, and the matter became somewhat vague.
Martina and the others left the bar together, each preparing to head home.
However, at this moment, Elena seemed unable to raise her head and couldn't even meet the gaze of Martina and the others. Especially when she belatedly recalled her actions earlier, she felt so ashamed that she couldn't lift her head.
She nearly wanted to find a place to hide. How could this be so embarrassing? What on earth did she do after getting drunk?
Leslie also felt a bit awkward. They went to a nearby hospital to have his wounds treated before leaving again.
Now, sitting in the same car, Elena just kept silent and other didn't know what was wrong with her.
Martina felt very uncomfortable with silence and took the initiative to speak up, "Elena, what's wrong with you? Why suddenly so quiet? Do you have something on your mind? Say it if you do."
Elena heard her name being called and buried her head even lower. The embarrassment almost overwhelmed her. "Well... Martina, I'm fine, really. I just had a bit too much to drink and wanted to rest. I'm really okay!"
Even though Elena said that, Martina couldn't really believe it.
Suddenly, Martina realized the current situation and came up with a possible explanation. Could it be that Elena was feeling embarrassed because she remembered what happened when she was drunk? After all, encountering a situation like Elena's was quite unusual and could make anyone feel uncomfortable.
Perhaps even Elena herself couldn't handle it, so it was no wonder she acted this way. It's totally understandable.
Seeing Martina remain silent, Elena seemed to have realized something and immediately glanced back at her and said, "What's going on in your head, Martina? Look, I really just had too much to drink and don't feel like talking, that's all!"
Martina made a facial expression that showed she understood. "I get it, you don't have to explain to me."
At that moment, Simon, who was driving, felt a bit awkward.
Fortunately, they were in a seven-seater car this time, with three rows, so there was enough space for everyone.
Leslie sneakily glanced at Elena's expression and quickly looked away. No one knew what he was thinking. However, this scene didn't escape Simon's eyes, and he was suddenly shocked.
What was going on? How come in just a moment, something seemed to have happened between Leslie and Elena?
Simon couldn't figure out what had caused this, but he knew it couldn't be as simple as it appeared on the surface!
Leslie had always been tough, but now he was feeling embarrassed, which was obviously abnormal!
To be honest, there was nothing too shameful. It was just that Elena, when drunk, was a bit too absurd and left an unforgettable impression on people.
Benjamin wasn't interested in gossiping about these things; his thoughts were all on Martina. Knowing Martina was fine, he was relieved. As for those who bullied Martina, Benjamin had already sent them to the police station.
Elena unintentionally glanced in Leslie's direction and unexpectedly made eye contact. Like being shocked by electricity, they quickly looked away.
Both of them nearly coughed simultaneously, displaying an astonishing level of synchronization.
Simon couldn't resist a bit of gossip and teased, "Leslie, why is your face so red? Is it too hot in here?"
Everyone could tell that he was just teasing. After all, the car had the air conditioning on, so it couldn't possibly be that hot to turn someone's face that red.
This kind of blushing looked more like the expression of someone feeling shy. Didn't that say it all?
Leslie suddenly felt even more embarrassed and didn't dare to meet Simon's gaze. He replied dryly, "Mind your own business. Is my blushing bothering you? It's not like I owe you anything."
Simon shrugged helplessly, "I didn't say anything, just wondering why you're so nervous."
Before Leslie could respond, Simon added teasingly, "Boss, I think Leslie hasn't been performing up to par recently. Perhaps you should consider deducting his salary."
Benjamin naturally wouldn't deduct someone's salary over such a trivial matter, but the fact that Leslie brought Martina to the bar without any prior notice was something to avoid.
Benjamin pursed his lips, "Alright, let's deduct your salary for one month. We'll see how you perform."
Leslie dared not complain, thinking that it was just one month's salary, nothing too serious.
After the conversation, Martina recalled what happened earlier. Those men were indeed taken away, but that didn't mean everything was over. They could accurately called out her name, it was evident that they really knew her.
