Chapter 206: In That Kind of Relationship, After All.
The next morning came quickly. After handling some company matters, Benjamin hurried back. His grandfather was returning today, but his flight was scheduled for noon, so there wasn't much else to do in the early morning except ensure that there was no delay in picking him up.
At this moment, Martina took some time to dress up, not for any other reason but to meet Jack. She wanted to make sure she was in good spirits.
Lately, she had been very busy, which had taken a slight toll on her appearance. In order not to cause any concerns for Jack, she decided to apply light makeup, attempting to hide any signs of fatigue and stress. However, she wasn't used to wearing makeup, and Benjamin, who rarely saw her like this, found it a bit unusual. Even so, his reaction was somewhat delayed.
"It seems like you dressed up today?" he said.
Benjamin, being a typical straight-talking guy, sometimes didn't think much before speaking. Did he really have to mention it just because he noticed? Did he not realize it might cause some annoyance?
Martina whined inside, but she didn't let it anger her. At most, she found it a bit odd that Benjamin was being so proactive, even asking questions like this.
"Well, after all, I'm going to meet Jack. Is there any problem with me dressing up a bit?" Martina responded confidently, making Benjamin feel like his previous question might have been somewhat inappropriate.
Unfortunately, the question was already asked, and there was no way to change it, no matter how awkward it felt.
Benjamin could only raise his hand and gently rub Martina's forehead. "Alright, then let's go. It's about an hour from here to the airport. We should be able to make it just in time."
Benjamin continued to organize everything methodically and said, "I've already made a reservation at the restaurant, so we'll head there later. I'm sure my grandfather will be happy to see us."
That statement was entirely true. Jack would definitely be happiest to see Benjamin and Martina together, whether in the past or now.
Martina nodded and didn't resist Benjamin's touch too much, possibly thinking about her upcoming meeting with Jack. She didn't want to cause him any worry.
Even Benjamin noticed these emotional changes, especially when Martina didn't resist his closeness at all. This was quite different from before, but he quickly understood why Martina was acting this way. She probably just wanted to maintain a certain image in front of Jack.
Regardless of whether it was genuine or not, Benjamin was confident he could make it a reality. It was only a matter of time. After all, some things couldn't be rushed; they required effort.
Benjamin's previous mistakes had caused Martina to lose her spirit, and now he was determined to change everything. These matters were very important to him, and he would do everything he could to make things right.
As long as he kept working hard, he believed he would succeed. He had confidence in himself. Despite the changes in Martina's feelings, he knew she couldn't become completely heartless. At least, that's how he saw it. It left a small bond in his heart, motivating him.
They traveled in silence, and soon they arrived at the airport. Jack's plane was about 10 minutes away from landing.
Perhaps it was because both of them were exceptionally good-looking. As soon as they got off the car and started waiting at the airport, they immediately attracted a crowd of onlookers.
People couldn't help but fixate on their good looks. Their hearts were filled with admiration and jealousy, and conversations about them were unavoidable. It seemed like they couldn't take their eyes off the couple.
"Oh my goodness, are these two celebrities? Why are they so good-looking? They seem like otherworldly beings!"
"It's not just about looks; look at that man. His unique aura completely overshadows everyone. He's way too outstanding!"
"That girl is stunning too. She's dressed so casually, yet she exudes this captivating charm that makes it impossible to avert my gaze. She's everyone's goddess!"
What was even more remarkable was that Martina possessed a charisma that others didn't have. This was why she attracted people. It was as if Benjamin always carried an intimidating presence that kept people at a distance, but Martina didn't have that vibe.
Both of them heard people's discussions, but they did their best to ignore it.
After a few more minutes, they spotted the flight that Jack was on, which had successfully arrived at the airport and was now heading outside.
To be honest, Martina felt a slight nervousness deep in her heart. Jack had always treated her as his own granddaughter. It had been quite a while since she had seen Jack.
The reason why so many people wanted to bully Martina some time ago was simply because they thought that without the support of Jack, Martina was nothing at all. They were not willing to maintain superficial relationships and instead wanted to break through repeatedly. In essence, they wanted to make trouble for Martina, as if causing her distress would bring them satisfaction.
Benjamin seemed to sense Martina's changing emotions. He raised a hand and rubbed her cheek, saying, "What's on your mind? You seem absentminded."
Martina quickly snapped back to reality and replied, "Nothing, don't touch me. People are watching." Although she did have some unusual thoughts in her mind, there was no way she could express them.
Hearing this, Benjamin quirked an eyebrow in slight dissatisfaction. "Is there a problem with that? We're in that kind of relationship, after all."
