Chapter 242: Benjamin Was Attacked
Many people cast curious and suspicious glances, not understanding what was happening. However, based on Benjamin's reaction, it seemed that the person by his side was the real Martina.
Jack chose to believe Martina as well since she didn't display any flaws. On the other hand, the woman who suddenly appeared seemed filled with hostility. Even a fool could tell that something was wrong with her.
"Someone, quickly get this woman out of here. Where did she come from? Investigate it immediately!" Jack was evidently very angry, almost on the verge of losing his temper.
He also addressed the guests at the birthday party, saying, "We've had a small incident today. You can leave now. I will invite you all again another day."
However, when everyone was preparing to leave, a surprising scene unfolded. In full view of the crowd, the woman took out a fruit knife from somewhere and lunged towards Martina.
"You go die! An impostor like you dares to act so arrogantly here. Who do you think you are?!" she exclaimed.
This shocking moment left everyone stunned, including Elizabeth. While she despised Martina, she hadn't intended for anything like this to happen. This situation had far exceeded anyone's imagination.
At such close range, with Martina seemingly trapped and unable to avoid the attack, Benjamin swiftly pulled her into his arms, using his body as a shield to block the knife.
Splash!
The sound of the knife piercing flesh echoed, and the woman had aimed for Benjamin's heart. Even though the attack came from behind, the consequences were unimaginable.
This scene once again left everyone shocked. Jack's eyes turned red instantly. "What are you all standing around for? Hurry up and grab this crazy woman, apprehend her!"
The woman kept shouting that she was the real Martina and the only woman by Benjamin's side. However, she couldn't provide any evidence, and she had even attacked Martina without any provocation. She seemed like a lunatic.
Everyone was astounded by this turn of events, and the mansion descended into chaos. The guests were quickly escorted out, and Benjamin collapsed into Martina's arms.
"Benjamin, how are you? Don't scare me. You'll be okay, right?" Martina said, her eyes welled up with tears.
Seeing some blood on Benjamin's lips, Martina was genuinely scared. Whether they stayed together or not was now irrelevant. In this situation, the outcome of being stabbed wasn't promising for anyone.
But why was Benjamin willing to risk his life like this? Did he value her safety more than his own?
Martina couldn't express her feelings; she just shouted hysterically, "Call 911! Hurry!"
At that moment, Benjamin managed to wipe away Martina's tears. "Don't cry. I'll be fine." Then, he lost control of his body and collapsed backward, hitting his head hard on the ground.
Elizabeth was also terrified. "How could this happen? Son, please don't let anything happen to you. What am I going to do if something happens to you?"
...
One hour later, Martina, Jack, and Elizabeth were all at the hospital. Benjamin had been taken to the operating room, and the lights in the operating room were still on.
Elizabeth sat there, lost and distraught. "This wasn't what I wanted. I didn't want this to happen. Why did it turn out like this? What if something really happens to my son? What am I going to do?"
In a short time, Jack had already sent people to investigate. Nathan had just returned with the real news. "I've already investigated the mastermind behind that woman, but it turns out to be... Mrs. Elizabeth Walker..."
When Jack heard this, he fixed his gaze on Elizabeth with intense resentment. His anger had reached its peak. He said grimly, "What are you trying to do? Have we mistreated you all these years? I've told you not to cause trouble for Martina, but you just wouldn't listen. You want to replace Martina with an impostor and even harm her. What's in your mind? Have you forgotten all the principles I taught you?"
Even if Elizabeth was ignorant, she knew she was wrong at this moment. Unfortunately, knowing she was wrong couldn't change the situation.
"Jack, it's not what you think. I didn't plan for that woman to act like that. I didn't know at all. I just wanted to find a woman who looked somewhat like Martina... so that she could stand in for her. I wanted you all to care about someone other than Martina. I didn't have any other intentions. I don't know why that woman went crazy."
Saying these things didn't serve any purpose, and Martina didn't want to dwell on them. What she was more concerned about was the condition of Benjamin.
When the knife had plunged into Benjamin's back, it was uncertain if it had pierced his heart. Blood kept flowing out uncontrollably, driving everyone to the brink of madness.
Martina had lost her composure, and at this moment, she had only one thought in her mind: hoping that Benjamin was safe. That was all that mattered to her.
Jack scolded Elizabeth wildly, but it couldn't change the situation. He could see that Elizabeth probably wouldn't dare to go too far. As for the matter concerning the other woman, it was still under investigation.
However, the top priority was ensuring Benjamin's safety. If they could make sure that he was okay, then everything else could be dealt with. But if anything happened to him, neither Martina, Jack, nor Elizabeth would be able to bear the consequences.
While waiting, Martina would occasionally glance at Jack. It seemed like the only possibility she could hold onto.
"Jack, Benjamin will be okay, right? He's a good person, and nothing bad will happen to him, will it?"
Jack was also very anxious, but to prevent Martina from breaking down, he continued with her thoughts, "Of course, he will. My grandson is not an ordinary person. How could anything happen to him? He will definitely come out of the surgery safe and sound. You can rest assured. After the operation, he will stand quietly in front of us. Don't worry."
