Chapter 175: The Anxious Amy
After Amy's remarks earlier, many people looked at Martina with less innocent eyes, thinking that she was intentionally trying to fit into their circle. However, if she wasn't part of their circle, she couldn't force her way in, right? Some of them started to look down on her.
Someone whispered, "I must say, this woman looks pretty good. Even though she's not part of our circle, her looks are definitely on point. Maybe I should give her a try and see if I can have some fun with her."
Even Daniel had some thoughts that couldn't be ignored. "What are you doing? Trying to steal women from me? Let me tell you guys something. Anyone who dares to compete with me for women, I'll have my dad terminate the cooperation with your companies!"
Hearing this, those men immediately shut their mouths.
Among the attendees at the gathering, apart from the Rodríguez and Paloma families, the Cooper family was also a powerful presence. Out of respect for their status and position, nobody dared to act recklessly.
Daniel relied on his identity, which allowed him to act unruly in this place; otherwise, he would be seen as useless trash, just a womanizer and not a good person at all.
The dishes that were pre-ordered arrived quickly, and they seemed to have ordered a lavish feast. It was no wonder the prices here were so high.
Although Martina had been silent, it didn't mean she didn't understand anything. Her eyes seemed to be looking somewhere, sometimes landing on Amy, making Amy even more nervous.
Finally, after being stared at countless times, Amy couldn't help but ask, "Is there something you want to tell me, Miss Martinez?"
Martina didn't speak but got up to pour drinks for both herself and Amy. For some reason, her pouring was unusually slow, and for a moment, it almost seemed like she accidentally covered the cup with her palm.
"Just wanted to have a drink with you," Martina replied calmly. "We've been through quite a bit together, so having a drink is like starting fresh. What do you think?"
Amy knew Martina was referring to their past, which reminded her of the time when she was forced to kneel down, making her feel uneasy once again.
Despite her strong unwillingness, Amy had to kneel to Martina due to the influence of Benjamin. The Paloma family couldn't afford to offend the Walker family.
Now that they were meeting here, Amy certainly wanted to deal with Martina, but she had no opportunity or preparation to do so. She was unsure how much Martina knew about the incident from that day and its connection to her.
If Martina knew, could she really remain so indifferent? However, if she didn't know, why would she suddenly come to this place?
These conflicting thoughts kept swirling in Amy's mind, making it difficult for her to stay calm for a long time.
When she heard Martina's words, she was even more stunned and didn't dare to reach out her hand directly.
The other two socialites also couldn't help but give Martina a few more glances.
"Miss Martinez seems quite interesting, planning to have a drink with Miss Paloma? But Miss Paloma's health is not that great. Isn't this asking a bit too much?" one of the women said.
In reality, Amy's health wasn't an issue. She had recovered long ago and occasionally drank some wine to warm her body. The topic was just an excuse she casually used, not worth believing.
Martina seemed as if she hadn't heard what the woman said and simply pushed the glass toward Amy's side.
"Miss Paloma probably wouldn't want me to reveal our past between us, right?" Martina said, sparking the curiosity of many people.
"What could it be? Is there really something else between this woman and Miss Paloma?"
Amy's pupils contracted instantly, and she felt uneasy. "What do you want? You wouldn't do something like that, right?"
Deep down, Amy was extremely nervous. She was worried that if her act of kneeling to Martina was exposed, she would lose her dignity and credibility in front of everyone present. She tightened her fists, afraid that she might lose control at any moment.
"Why wouldn't I? Do you think you're the only one capable of doing things that shouldn't see the light of day?" Martina countered.
At the same time, more people focused on Martina. "What's going on? Is it possible that Miss Paloma has been caught in this woman's trap? What's this woman's real identity?"
Daniel became more curious too. There had to be a reason for Amy to behave so nervously without any apparent cause. Perhaps there was some bad history between these two women, and one of them had leverage over the other.
With these thoughts, Daniel's eyes on Martina became even more intense, and there seemed to be a glimmer of ambition in his gaze. He was now waiting for the final outcome with growing anticipation.
Amy grew even more nervous, fearing that Martina might actually reveal those past words.
Reluctantly, she picked up the wine glass and said, "Miss Martinez, meeting you must be fate. It's also fate that we can meet here today. Let me toast you first!"
In front of everyone's eyes, Amy seemed to have surrendered. She followed Martina's lead and prepared to take a sip.
People were astonished, "Oh my goodness, really? Miss Paloma, who is usually adored by so many people, now has to follow Martina's lead?"
"What's Martina's real identity? I'm getting more and more curious. It can't be just because of Elena's presence that she holds such power. I feel there must be more to it!"
Indeed, the reality was as such, however, no one could provide answers to their questions.
As Amy was about to drink the wine, Martina gently smiled and whispered, "Miss Paloma, aren't you worried that I might have added something to your drink? Just like what you did to me before?"
Though her voice was quiet, it was clear enough for Amy to hear every word, causing her to become even more frightened.
What was Martina's intention? Her sudden presence here had already surpassed Amy's expectations, and now, faced with these unexpected developments, Amy felt bewildered and struggled to grasp her motives.
"Miss Martinez, what do you want? Why are you here today?" Amy was genuinely panicking.
