Chapter 179: Who Is the Bitch?
Adam gritted his teeth, "Martinez, why are you being such a bitch now?!"
Just the thought of his sister being locked in the restroom by Martina, and Martina even contemplating murder, made Adam furious. He wished he could just kill Martina right now.
The previous events were still fresh in Adam's memory. He couldn't believe that instead of him causing trouble for Martina, it was Martina who actively sought out trouble with his sister. Wasn't that asking for trouble?
Each word from Adam came out with a seething rage, his eyes were practically spitting fire. This stark contrast between his intense anger and Martina's composed demeanor created quite a spectacle.
"Why didn't you just die sooner, bitch? Don't think that now that you have Benjamin's favor, you can act however you want. Do you truly believe you're something special?" Adam roared.
"You're just a passing fancy of a guy. Once that charm fades, what do you really think you are?" He deliberately touched a nerve, regardless of whether what he said was true or not. He couldn't afford to lose the upper hand in terms of presence, or else he wouldn't forgive himself.
Martina listened with an air of humility, as if she were truly taking Adam's words to heart.
"Is that so? I'm curious, who is the bitch you are referring to?" Martina playfully probed, a more pronounced smile on her face.
A look of disdain painted Martina's exquisite face, as if she didn't even consider Adam worth her attention.
Right from the start, she hadn't held any favorable opinions about Adam, especially after everything that had transpired between them.
Martina refrained from directly confronting Adam due to her upbringing and family background.
Adam answered, "Of course, I'm talking about you, you bitch!"
At this point, Elena couldn't help but burst into laughter beside them. She played along perfectly, uttering words that would surely make Adam wish he could vanish on the spot.
"Ohh," Elena intentionally drew out the tone, "your sister is the bitch. Yet you still have the nerve to mention my friend. Just who do you think you are?"
Adam's chest heaved with anger, his entire body trembling. It seemed he was following in the footsteps of his sister, Amy, from earlier. It appeared he was genuinely infuriated, but this kind of person wasn't worthy of pity at all.
If even individuals like him deserved pity, then there'd be an endless supply of pitiful people in the world – too many to count!
Elena continued, "Listen carefully. Regardless of how long Benjamin's feelings for my friend last, they're undeniably genuine. Do you really think that if you offend us here, you'll have a pleasant outcome?"
Adam found himself momentarily speechless. He recalled Benjamin's past behavior towards him, his heart racing. However, could that alone account for everything?
Regardless of the situation, Adam couldn't just stand idly by while his sister was being mistreated. It was even more challenging than if someone had killed him.
"So, is this your reason for arrogance? Just because of your relationship with Benjamin, you think you can bully my sister like this?" Adam retorted. "If you've got the guts, release my sister! Whatever issues you have, bring them to me. I won't even bat an eyelash!"
"Mr. Paloma, why don't you think about asking how all of this came about?" Martina spoke up once again as her beautiful eyebrows knitted together. "Why did I randomly bring Amy here? Do you really think there's no reason behind all of this?"
"What do you want me to ask? Are you trying to suggest that my sister provoked you first, so you acted this way?"
Adam suppressed his inner displeasure and continued as per Martina's lead.
"Bingo,"Elena snapped her fingers on the side, "That's exactly it. It was because your sister provoked us first that we acted like this. Don't mess around. You're so nervous right now. Could it be because you're also an accomplice?"
Adam's inner rage was impossible to conceal, regardless of what his sister had done. In his eyes, Amy was blameless. The one who seemed unreasonable was Martina before him.
Adam motioned to the people behind him, lit a cigarette with an impatient expression on his face, and seemed to need this to calm his inner anger and frustration.
"I don't care what you're saying. I'll give you the last two minutes to think. Release my sister, and I'll pretend like today never happened," Adam warned.
After a pause, he continued, "But if you don't let her go, I will teach you a lesson."
Martina's mind drifted back to the day she left Benjamin's villa, recalling the slap Adam had given her. Even though she had returned the favor later, that scene had left an indelible mark on her heart, likely something she would remember even in her old age.
"I'm sorry, but I definitely won't release her. If you've got any tricks up your sleeve, now's the time to show them," Martina said, firmly.
With those words, Adam momentarily felt bewildered. He couldn't comprehend why Martina remained so composed.
This woman was utterly powerless; as far as he knew, her talents extended at most to painting a few pictures. What skill could she possibly possess? If it came to physical confrontation, she wouldn't even be able to match the strength of someone's little finger.
Adam couldn't fathom that Martina could stand up to the many people behind him. "Are you sure? You won't regret it?"
Martina didn't hesitate for a moment. "Yep, let's see."
Witnessing this scene, Adam couldn't hold back any longer. He thought, "Who cares! My rapport with Benjamin has been bad anyway. I'm fine with it worsening further."
No matter what, he couldn't just stand by and watch his own sister get bullied like that. Anyway, he had been doting on his sister since they were kids. Now he was forced to watch her cry and scream while locked in a bathroom.
If he ignored it, he would truly be unworthy of being called a human being, let alone a brother. He would prefer death over willful ignorance.
With these thoughts in mind, Adam immediately solidified his resolve. "What are you all staring at? Move!"
Even with Elena by his side, Adam stood his ground without any signs of intimidation. He understood that Elena wouldn't be effective in a physical confrontation with formidable opponents.
As for Martina, she fell under the same category as Elena—there was no reason for Adam to feel threatened.
