Chapter 187: Informed My Brother
Although Benjamin said those words, everyone understood that it was likely just an excuse. When the time was right, things would probably be no different from before.
To be honest, Martina couldn't be certain. Was Benjamin's current statement genuine or not? Could she trust him at all?
Considering how much a person could change, it was like how before, he used to be indifferent, lacking even a bit of patience. But now he was patient and supportive, something Martina would never have dared to imagine.
Moreover, such a drastic transformation had occurred, which naturally raised doubts.
Martina didn't expect someone to be her guardian angel, resolutely choosing her like that, but at least it prepared her for whatever might come.
Looking at the strikingly handsome man before her, every gesture exuding an intense allure, Martina's heart started to race once again.
Why did he have to be so incredibly good-looking, being a man? It seemed almost unfair to the rest of the world. His striking appearance could easily turn heads and leave people in awe, making them wonder if it was even possible for someone to be naturally endowed with such charm.
Before, Martina had fallen for Benjamin's good looks more than once. Even now, there seemed to be a hint of that past behavior, though she forcefully suppressed it.
There were more important matters at hand. If her perspective were to change just because of a handsome face, then she would be quite shallow.
Benjamin's words left Martina momentarily speechless. Perhaps it wasn't the right time yet. Regardless of how she asked, she couldn't be sure. In many cases, it's better to act as if nothing had happened. For now, time to end that topic.
What Martina was more curious about was the situation with Amy.
Amy had already been taken to the police station. The next steps should be quite evident.
Elena didn't ride in the same car as them, but that didn't mean she would be ignored. In fact, she had been sending messages to Martina whenever she had a chance.
"Martina, how's everything on your end? I've informed my brother about this matter too."
"My brother said he'll make sure that Amy gets what she deserves, even if it strains our relationship with the Paloma family!"
Upon reading this, Martina became even more uneasy and promptly called Elena.
"Elena, what's going on? Why did you suddenly tell your brother? I already told you not to involve him in this matter. Didn't I say that?"
Elena felt quite embarrassed as well. "I wasn't planning to say anything originally, but Alejandro and I were together just now. He asked me what I've been up to, and I accidentally blurted it out."
"Later on, I figured since I started, I might as well continue. It didn't make sense to keep hiding it, so I had no choice but to go on."
Indeed, that's how it happened. Elena had just left the restaurant not long ago, intending to leave directly. Unexpectedly, she spotted Alejandro and he greeted her.
This situation made Elena overwhelmed and nervous. Every time she saw her brother, she had an uneasy conscience, especially when she had done something wrong.
As for what happened afterwards, there's no need to say. It was probably just an accidental slip of the tongue. Many things were inadvertently revealed, which was quite normal.
Martina rubbed her temples. She didn't expect things to escalate to this point. She genuinely didn't want to trouble so many people.
Who would have thought that not only would Benjamin be involved, but even Elena's brother would be involved? Martina felt more stressful now.
Owing someone money might be manageable; one could always pay it back later with some interest if needed. But owing someone a favor was a different story.
Martina could reluctantly accept Benjamin's involvement to some extent, considering their relationship. After all, they've been together for some years, and she could understand their interactions to some extent.
However, Alejandro's participation was distinct. He and Martina had minimal interaction.
With this situation arising now, it's natural to feel a bit uneasy, even unsure of what to say.
However, things had already reached this point. Even if Martina wanted to argue, she could change anything. For the moment, she could only silently accept it all.
Seeing the helpless expression on Martina's face, it was evident just how awkward she must be feeling. This situation had gone beyond imagination, hadn't it?
"Alright then, but you still need to talk to your brother and let him know he doesn't need to be bothered. I can handle this matter on my own. I won't let anyone bully me."
Elena casually responded with a couple of words, seemingly not paying much attention to what Martina had said.
Benjamin keenly caught the mention of Alejandro's name. His gaze turned alertly towards Martina. From the beginning, he could sense it.
Alejandro seemed to hold some undisclosed feelings towards Martina, which was a fact that Benjamin couldn't ignore.
Initially, he thought there wouldn't be much interaction between the two of them, and Benjamin could have treated it as if nothing had happened, moving on. But now, it seemed that wasn't the case.
Just as Elena was about to speak to Martina, Alejandro had already taken the phone from her hand and proactively contacted Martina.
"Miss Martinez, I already know about what happened between you and Miss Paloma. She indeed went too far," Alejandro said seriously. "Don't worry, I will make sure they pay for what they've done, no matter who it is. This is something that must be done, consider it repaying a favor for your helping my sister."
Alejandro's mention of a "favor" likely referred to the relationship between Martina and Elena, coupled with Martina's influence that allowed Elena to save some trouble.
Alejandro had always kept these matters in mind; now he was merely stating them openly in front of everyone.
Martina awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth. "Alejandro, I don't think it's necessary. Let's just forget about it. I can handle these things on my own. Elena has already helped me a lot. How could I possibly trouble you?"
This statement was indeed true, spoken sincerely by Martina.
However, she didn't notice that, at this moment, Benjamin's expression had already turned worse and worse. After all, why did she have to engage in conversation with a man?
