Chapter 170: No Room for Doubt
Hearing this question, Leslie couldn't help but feel puzzled and remained frozen in place. Why did the boss suddenly inquire about those people? Could it be that he suspected something was amiss with them?
With a hint of doubt in his mind, Leslie truthfully recounted everything he had learned about those individuals.
"Boss, they deliberately picked a fight with me first. At first, I didn't intend to say anything, but those troublemakers kept provoking me. Given my impulsive temper, I couldn't tolerate it, so we ended up fighting after a few exchanged words," Leslie recalled.
Benjamin remained silent, but his expression indicated he wanted Leslie to continue. At the same time, Leslie's mind started racing, trying to figure out what exactly the boss wanted to know. It couldn't be just about this incident; otherwise, his reaction wouldn't be like this.
From the beginning until now, Leslie was genuinely clueless about what his boss wanted to find out. Wasn't his description detailed enough?
Suddenly, Leslie was caught in a certain memory, and he suddenly realized something even more strange. Yes, those bastards from before seemed to have called out "Martina". The crucial point was that if they were just causing trouble, they shouldn't have known her name, right? These people were strangers.
This was a significant breakthrough, and Leslie understood why the boss suddenly asked about it. At this moment, he quickly recounted what he had noticed.
"Boss, you're right. I remember now. Those people accidentally called Miss Martinez 'Martina', but before that, I had never mentioned her name," Leslie continued.
Right! Benjamin finally understood why Martina had such a reaction back then. She must have sensed something to react that way. But he couldn't figure out why she was unwilling to tell him the truth. Could it be that he didn't seem trustworthy enough to her?
At this moment, Benjamin's mood was rather unsettled. At the same time, Leslie and Simon both felt the tension in the air and dared not utter a word. The two of them subconsciously exchanged glances and finally understood their boss's intentions.
After contemplating for a while, Benjamin suddenly made different arrangements for the two in front of him.
"Find out the identities of those people and report to me," he said.
"Sure, boss. I'll dispatch people to investigate right away. You can rest assured," Simon quickly followed up.
"Boss, what about those who have already been arrested? Do they need to be handled in a special way?" Leslie added,.
Since they had already speculated that those people were intentionally causing trouble, Leslie believed that their boss would not stand idly by and would surely take some measures.
Indeed, it was true. Benjamin's gaze flickered slightly, and just at the moment when no one could read his inner thoughts, he spoke again, "Have someone keep an eye on them and double the original penalty according to the criminal law. After they are released, bring them to me for disposition."
This meant that those men's fate had been predetermined. Their original punishment would be doubled, and after their release, they would be brought before the boss for judgment. The outcome was undoubtedly going to be severe.
At this moment, neither Simon nor Leslie dared to object. Considering what those people had done to Miss Martinez, the subsequent consequences seemed justifiable.
When they left the study, they finally breathed a sigh of relief together.
"It seems those people have angered the boss to the extreme. The consequences are definitely going to be severe. Who on earth would dare to have such audacity? It's like they're asking for death!" Simon sighed as he walked out of the study.
Even though the boss had been showing his intentions quite clearly lately, why would some people still overestimate themselves? Could it be that they were too confident in themselves?
Leslie shrugged and his mouth twitched, accidentally, he aggravated the wound on his face, causing it to contort in pain.
"Who knows, there are always some people with an inflated sense of self who believe they are stronger than anyone else, even considering themselves as special beings," Leslie said. "But regardless, we must be serious. We must quickly trace it back to its true source. If we take too long or act too slowly, the boss will be thoroughly furious, and then no one can save us."
Simon nodded, well aware of this, "Don't worry, I know what to do. You should know me by now, right?"
Martina returned to her room without immediately going to sleep. Instead, she took a shower, washing away the smell of smoke and alcohol on her body, as well as the sweat odor belonging to the other man. Although those men didn't actually succeed in their intentions, there was still a bit of physical contact during the struggle. she felt like she was about to be overwhelmed by the stench.
Now, to find out who those people were, Martina had to ask Elena to send someone to investigate since she didn't have many connections in that regard. Besides, if she were to personally hire people to investigate, the news would definitely reach Benjamin's ears very quickly. To avoid unnecessary trouble, she could only ask Elena for help.
At this moment, Elena sent a message to Martina, as if they were in sync.
"Hey, have you reached home? have you gone to bed? " Elena asked.
"I'm home. Just finished showering. Why are you still up?" Martina felt warmed by the message and replied with a sincere smile.
"I can't sleep. My brother's behavior scared me just now. I don't know what he's up to, and I'm still anxious about it," Elena shared her worries. She replied instantly as usual, probably sitting with her phone, waiting for a response.
"Don't worry. Your brother was probably just saying it casually. If anything, I'll talk to your brother," Martina reassured. "As for today's incident, you don't need to worry either. I believe your brother won't doubt me."
"Yeah, I know you're the most trustworthy girl. I believe my brother won't doubt you either," Elena finally felt relieved and said.
After a couple of seconds, the typing indicator on Elena's end was still active, and Martina wondered what she was typing. Finally, after a while, she received a long message from Elena.
"Martina... I'm just puzzled about what happened at the bar today. It feels so strange. Thankfully, Benjamin arrived in time; otherwise, the consequences could have been severe. Why is it that something bad happens every time we go out? If I had known, I wouldn't have gone to the bar, and I definitely wouldn't have let you go either."
