Chapter 182: Curious About the Reasons?
Adam rubbed the spot where he had been kicked, sitting helplessly on the ground, unable to gather himself for quite a while. However, his eyes were fixed intently on Benjamin.
There must have been furious in his heart, as his expression and emotions clearly showed.
If it weren't for Benjamin's status and abilities, Adam probably would have retaliated long ago. But he knew he couldn't win in a fight, so he refrained from doing so. At most, he harbored resentment, but that wouldn't translate into action.
From a distance, the sound of Amy's cries for help and desperate pleas could still be heard. She was sobbing so heartbreakingly that it seemed like her heart was being torn apart.
Martina, held by Benjamin's gentle grip, couldn't leave even if she wanted to. She could only look up at the man beside her and ask, "Didn't you hear the cries for help inside? Aren't you going to do something?"
A faint smile finally appeared at the corner of Benjamin's lips. In fact, he had already thoroughly investigated everything before coming here. His purpose in arriving today was to definitively address and find a solution to this matter.
Benjamin gently guided Martina to a nearby chair and had her sit down. "Leave the rest to me. You sit here and watch."
Then he began to walk toward the direction of the commotion, his pace deliberate and unhurried.
Elena, who calmed down a bit, silently stood by Martina's side and engaged in hushed gossip.
"Now that Benjamin's here, does that mean we don't have anything to do anymore? We just need to watch his moves, right?" Elena said with a hint of excitement. After all, Benjamin never disappoints when fighting with others.
Martina, lost in thought for a moment, didn't say anything. It seemed that the current situation did indeed align with Elena's observation.
With Benjamin's imposing presence, Martina found herself in a position where she could only be a spectator to the unfolding of his actions. Frankly speaking, a sense of comfort washed over her as she observed Benjamin's calculated moves.
Martina realized that now she had no chance to take matters into her own hands. It was better to see how Benjamin would handle things.
Benjamin had consistently proven himself reliable, even prior to his romantic involvement with Martina. Beyond their emotional connection, he consistently demonstrated foresight and was never caught off guard in any circumstance.
Initially, Martina had no intention of involving Benjamin in her affairs, however, the situation had spun out of her control. At this point, apart from continuing to observe, there weren't many better options.
The upcoming developments had already exceeded Martina's imagination. She watched as Benjamin had all of Adam's people dealt with, paving the way for the next phase of action. The first target was none other than Adam himself.
Benjamin casually walked over to Adam's side, looking down on his former friend.
Speaking of their friendship, it was largely a creation of Adam's imagination. For Benjamin, the relationship between them wasn't particularly strong, more of a result of their families' connections. That's all.
Benjamin never took the initiative to reach out to them. Most of the contact was initiated by Adam himself, lost in his own self-imagined world.
There seemed to be fire in Adam's gaze, and his heart was filled with nervousness too. He just didn't know how to change the situation, so he could only try his perceived useful methods, attempting to make a difference.
"Benjamin! After all these years of being friends, do you really want to destroy our relationship because of a woman? Don't you think it is okay?" Adam's words were a desperate attempt. "We are true friends. Our families' ties run deeper than your relationship with Martina. Don't be foolish at a time like this."
Unfortunately, Benjamin was immune to this statement. He simply patted Adam's cheek condescendingly. "Did I not tell you what you should do before?"
Benjamin referred to the advice he had given after reprimanding Adam last time. In any case, this guy should have remembered and refrained from troubling Martina, but he seemed to have forgotten.
Adam was momentarily stunned, seemingly caught off guard by this response. "What? What do you mean by that?"
Benjamin didn't bother to explain further. "Since you can't remember, never mind. Actually, I'm curious about what's going on with your Paloma family right now."
This statement left Adam even more perplexed. His gaze fixed warily on Benjamin, as if he might be shot any second.
Adam was on edge due to the situation, a profound fear taking hold of him, as though something truly dreadful was on the brink of unfolding.
"What do you mean? Benjamin, you're not intentionally trying to protect Martina and smear us, are you?" Adam asked.
Simon couldn't hold back a chuckle from the back, but the smile was fabricated, which held more of a taunting tone. Even the most honest person could get angry when provoked.
He was also quite displeased upon learning about this whole situation. How could the people from the Paloma family act so maliciously, yet act like nothing happened afterwards? It was as if they were trying to blame Miss Martinez for everything. Of course, Miss Martinez wouldn't do such a thing. It must be Amy who did it.
Sensing Adam's gaze, Simon casually produced a slim notebook computer as if performing a magic trick.
"You won't believe it until you see the evidence," he said in a leisurely manner."Look, Miss Martinez came here today for reason. She doesn't go looking for trouble unless provoked."
Hearing this, Adam felt increasingly uneasy. What on earth did this mean?
He felt like he was being played, yet he realized that whatever he said wouldn't change anything. He could only continue to silently watch, his heart heavy.
Locked up at this moment, Amy was gripped by fear. She couldn't shake the feeling that everything had been exposed, yet she clung to a glimmer of hope.
"Benjamin, please... don't believe what Martina said. It's all just a misunderstanding. I haven't done anything!" she pleaded but protested too much. Amy was in such a hurry to prove her innocence without any evidence.
