Chapter 177: Tit for Tat
Even though Elena was exposed, she remained calm and said, "So what if you know? Do you really think anything will change?"
"Paloma, I honestly can't understand. What grudge do you have against me that you'd deliberately try to tarnish our reputation?"
"Especially the last time. You couldn't possibly be naive enough to think you successfully hid what you did, right?"
Amy's heart raced with panic. Indeed, her worst fear had come true. Despite not wanting to admit it, she had no choice but to face the facts. She had believed she concealed everything well, that it wouldn't be discovered. Yet, looking at these two, it was evident they knew everything. How could she not be anxious?
Martina narrowed her eyes and added, "I thought even if there were conflicts between us, they wouldn't escalate so drastically. But later, I realized how foolish my thinking was."
Each word that Martina enunciated was imbued with genuine disgust and impatience. If it weren't for the fact that they were both women and she had her own limits, she couldn't guarantee what actions she might take.
At times, dealing with people like Amy indeed required some unconventional methods, which was an inevitability. Otherwise, things might not go smoothly!
"Someone like you will always be selfish. Unfortunately, people like you will never be liked by anyone," Martina continued. "If you truly like Benjamin, what does it have to do with me? Why must it involve me at all?"
Seeing that things had escalated to this point, Amy felt she had little left to pretend. She might as well seize this opportunity to break free from the charade. After all, she had done it before!
"Martinez, how could you even question me? It's solely due to your presence that Benjamin has become distant from me!" In a moment of frustration, Amy exclaimed. "He even feels disgust towards me, and he's not hesitating to oppose our Paloma family. It's all because of you!"
Martina rolled her eyes in exasperation, quite taken aback by how someone who seemed relatively normal on the surface could be so abnormal in private. Whether in terms of thoughts or behavior, there were significant contradictions, making it difficult for her to comprehend. It was hard to believe a normal person could engage in such actions.
"Whether you can win over Benjamin depends on your own abilities; it has nothing to do with me," Martina offered a serious retort. "But you keep provoking me time and time again, even resorting to such despicable tactics. How do you think I should respond?"
Amy suddenly felt as if she had nothing to say, as if everything she could say would be wrong.
Elena added fuel to the fire at this moment, "Before, I thought you were just a spoiled girl from a wealthy family, not fundamentally flawed. But looking at you now, I realize that's not the case."
"No one can save you this time. Today we'll make you experience what we almost endured before, tit for tat. Maybe this way, you'll understand the concept of empathy and think twice before doing something outrageous again. Paloma, you deserve this, and we're actually helping you."
Hearing Elena's words, Amy was really frightened. She had known these two women couldn't be trusted, and it seemed her suspicion was right.
Amy's body trembled violently, and she appeared weak and helpless, lying on the ground like a pitiable victim about to be bullied. Ironically, she was the real bully, but her innocent appearance gave a false impression in the opposite direction. In reality, her actions only fueled more disgust.
"What do you think you're going to achieve? Let me tell you, if you've done anything to me, you'll regret it!" Elena exclaimed in frustration.
Elena scanned her surroundings, then retorted, "There's no one around here. Do you really think your words will kill us?"
Elena was visibly cheerful in her smile, but it sent shivers down one's spine. Especially now, Amy seemed like she was about to wet her pants out of fear.
Despite believing she had concealed everything well, why had she been discovered so quickly? What had gone wrong with all of this?
"The reason we've come here is to seize this opportunity. No matter what, we will make you pay the price today," Elena exclaimed. "Women like you, if they can't empathize, are bound to repeat their mistakes in the future. It's a pity we don't have the patience to keep dealing with you. Before you realize your mistakes, I don't mind resorting to some unsavory tactics."
Elena didn't care anything at all now, but on second thought, it all seemed to make sense. This might be the sole means to genuinely instill fear in Amy. Otherwise, she would never understand her wrongdoings.
"In the end, it's just tit for tat. We can make a big scene involving both our families if need be, and I'm not afraid," Elena continued.
In truth, Martina had everything under control. She knew that tripping up Amy for real wasn't going to be that easy, so a gradual approach was necessary. Moreover, mentally suppressing Amy now should be more exhilarating than physically suppressing her.
In fact, Martina could have initially used these despicable methods to completely ruin Amy. However, because she had her own moral boundaries, she couldn't truly go that far. It would weigh on her conscience.
Today, Martina's goal was straightforward: she wanted to thoroughly crush Amy mentally. She aimed for a state where Amy would feel physiological unease just at the sight of her. In this way, she would have achieved half of her objective.
Certainly, Martina wasn't a saint; her aim was to completely destroy Amy using her own strategies. Occasionally, breaking someone down didn't solely rely on physical methods; the psychological aspect held equal power. This was far more superior to achieving objectives through unsavory tactics – it's more respectable and convincing!
