Chapter 191: Resolving from the Source
Gary wasn't a fool! He knew it was not easy to find a solution. How could he truly believe something like that?
He knew exactly what kind of situation he was facing now, even though he didn't want to admit it, he had no choice.
The current situation was not favorable for their Lu family. Especially with what Amy was up to now, it had long exceeded anyone's imagination.
Gary repeated that line again, "How did it come to this? I've clearly said it before, don't offend Benjamin, but Amy just wouldn't listen!"
Adam even tried to defend Amy, "It's not like that. At the beginning, Amy didn't offend Benjamin. It's all because of Martina Martinez."
Gary heard that name again, his disgust only growing stronger. He tapped the table, his gaze deep and icy. After all, he had lived for many years, with much more life experience than Martina. Martina didn't have the qualifications to challenge him.
Gary was well aware that talking to Benjamin would be pointless if he wanted Benjamin to completely dispel the idea of having Amy imprisoned. However, talking to Martina might work.
With this thought in mind, Gary quickly made a decision. He then turned his gaze, which carried a hint of dissatisfaction, to Adam.
"Kid, what's going on? Isn't that Martina Martinez just an outsider to our circle? Besides being somewhat good-looking, what else does she have?" Gary asked, rubbing his beard on his chin, his sharp gaze seeming to penetrate everything. "Since this whole thing started because of her, it should also end because of her."
Up until now, Benjamin was the only young man respected by Gary. Apart from him, there was no other. Martina wasn't on Gary's radar, instead, she would only be regarded as insignificant.
Since this matter originated from Martina in the first place, Gary naturally had to find a way to quickly resolve it.
"Listen, Amy is your sister, your only sister. Her safety should matter to you even more than to me."
Gary thought for a moment and added. "Here's what you'll do. Quickly find a way to privately meet with Martina Martinez. Just convince her, whether it's about money or anything else she wants, do your best."
"Will that work?" Adam instinctively wanted to refuse. "She's practically the mastermind behind almost landing my sister in jail. Now you want me to talk to her?"
"Do you have a better solution?" Gary's expression grew heavier. "For now, set aside other matters for later. Currently, your top priority is to swiftly resolve this issue, to rescue Amy. Understand?"
Even if Adam was rather foolish, he finally grasped the situation. No matter how reluctant he was, he could only nod in agreement.
There was no way around it. He couldn't just wait and do nothing for her own sister. If Amy were to actually end up in jail, it would also a disaster for him too.
"Got it, Grandfather. I'll do my best to handle this matter. I'll go find her right now!"
Unfortunately, Adam was bound to come up empty that night.
Benjamin had already taken Martina back home. Even if she wanted to go out, she couldn't. Plus, with the things that had happened earlier, it would be even harder for her to leave the villa.
At the night, Martina couldn't fall asleep at all. She didn't know why, but she felt unusually awake. Thinking about the busy day ahead at the studio, she had no choice but to force herself to sleep quickly. Otherwise, she'd be tired out tomorrow for sure.
Later, in Martina's half-asleep state, she felt like Benjamin had returned. He seemed to carry the scent of morning dew, as if he had taken a shower before lying down on the bed.
However, Martina was just too exhausted to even open her eyes. She simply wanted to rest properly. So, she didn't bother to think about what Benjamin had been up to.
After the shower, Benjamin stood by the bed, gazing at Martina's face for a while. It's unknown what he had been up to outside, but it's evident that his emotions seemed to undergo some fluctuations once again, even showing a hint of rare tenderness.
Benjamin then lay down on the bed and gently pulled Martina into his embrace, as if he were holding a priceless treasure.
He lightly kissed her forehead and uttered a sentence that Martina only vaguely registered, "When will you truly believe in me?"
Martina seemed to hear it, yet it was as if she hadn't, and she didn't respond at all. She faintly heard Benjamin let out a deep sigh and then the night passed in silence.
The next day, Martina woke up at 9 in the morning.
Although she was late for work, it was fine. She quickly got ready and headed to the studio.
Benjamin was already gone, probably busy with work.
Leslie, seeing Martina all ready, conscientiously drove her to the studio.
Martina got into the car, thinking about last night's events and decided to ask Leslie about it. "Leslie, what time did you guys come back last night?"
"It was around 3 in the morning," Leslie didn't lie about it and thought for a moment before answering.
"Was it related to dealing with Amy's matters?" Martina asked, but there was a hint of certainty in her voice. After all, it was quite obvious.
"Yes," Leslie nodded, "but the boss instructed me not to tell you too much, so as not to affect your mood. So, you might --"
The rest of the sentence didn't need to be said to be understood.
Martina rolled her eyes and complained, "You do listen to your boss quite well. Be careful that he doesn't fire you one day."
Leslie chuckled, "That's definitely not possible. He is actually very good to his subordinates, and he treats you well too. Haven't you noticed that?"
Hearing the latter part unexpectedly, Martina suddenly didn't know what to say, feeling a bit awkward as she glanced out the window.
"Why bring this up out of the blue? Did he teach you to say that?" Martina then asked, her eyebrows twitching slightly.
Unintentionally, she recalled the words Benjamin said to her in the middle of the night last night, while she was half-asleep. But she also thought that those were probably the genuine words from Benjamin, not just a dream.
