Chapter 245: The Ending
One year later, Martina and Benjamin woke up early to get their marriage certificates.
Benjamin, holding the two booklets they had obtained with great effort, surprisingly clutched them in his hands, not willing to let go.
No matter how Martina tried to take them, Benjamin refused to give them up, guarding them closely. He acted as if holding onto the certificates would ensure their safety.
Martina couldn't help but laugh at Benjamin's possessiveness. "Do you need to be so nervous? They're just marriage certificates. Besides, we've already obtained them. Do you think I'll run away or something?"
Benjamin was insistent. "Of course, you've run away before. For safety's sake, I'll keep them, and you won't see them for the rest of your life."
Martina rolled her eyes but didn't say anything. Since Benjamin had finally awakened after the last incident, their relationship had undergone rapid and continuous changes. She no longer had any psychological burdens, as Benjamin had fulfilled all the scenarios and changes she had once longed to see.
Martina had no complaints. Being able to spend the rest of her life peacefully with Benjamin seemed more than good enough.
They had agreed to have their wedding in six months, but at Benjamin's strong insistence, they decided to get their marriage certificates on this special day, May 20th.
Looking back on everything that had happened, Martina couldn't help but find it amusing. Sometimes, it took a crisis to make her realize the importance of her own convictions.
But no matter what, fortunately, waking up now wasn't too late. As long as they could be safe and sound together, nothing else mattered.
As they gazed at the clear, blue sky outside, resembling the mood of the two of them, Martina was about to say something when she heard her phone buzzing. She checked and saw a call from Jack.
"Kid, didn't you two go to get your marriage certificates? Have you obtained them? If you're finished, come back now. Your father and I have been waiting for a while, getting ready for a meal together," Jack said. "As for the wedding, we need to plan it well. It must be perfect. If Benjamin dares to upset you, don't hesitate to tell me. I'll make sure he's in a world of hurt!"
Benjamin had to acknowledge that his status had significantly declined after he and Martina obtained their marriage certificates, even though he didn't want to admit it. However, observing his radiant expression, it appeared that he didn't mind the change. Perhaps, witnessing his beloved woman being cared for by his family was the happiest thing in his life. So, he had no reason to be dissatisfied. With Martina in his possession, he had no more worries.
As for Elizabeth, even though she had been kicked out, she occasionally returned due to her relationship with Benjamin. Now she had become self-reliant and no longer depended on anyone, but all of this was a result of her own doing.
Thinking back, Martina couldn't understand what she had been pursuing with her persistence. Fortunately, she had realized it wasn't too late, and now she saw Benjamin right by her side. Seeing her family staying by her side every step of the way, this was probably the most satisfying time.
Martina breathed in the fresh outdoor air and contemplated that from now on, she was stepping into a new life. She wasn't just someone else's daughter; she was also Benjamin's wife. From now on, they would share their lives together.
Looking at the entrance of the restaurant, Simon silently parked the car. In this recent time frame, he had observed tender interactions between the pair. Perhaps out of habit, he didn't say anything.
Martina and Benjamin exited the car and walked together toward the entrance.
Whether to show off or to express his inner thoughts, Benjamin held Martina's hand and said, "Now that we are legally married, we should walk hand in hand."
Martina rolled her eyes once again and said, "I didn't realize you were so clingy. Aren't you afraid that being too clingy might make me fed up with you someday?"
Benjamin's eyes shimmered slightly, as if he were genuinely contemplating the issue at hand. Finally, he said with determination, "If the day comes when you're fed up with me, then I'll just have to chase you again. In any case, you can only be mine for life."
At the thought of how Benjamin had chased Martina in the past, it was clear that he had gone to great lengths. Martina didn't want to be taken by surprise by Benjamin's amorous tactics, so it seemed better not to have such days in the future.
The two of them entered the restaurant and saw Jack and Miguel, who had been waiting for them. They exchanged smiles, and at that moment, it felt like they had weathered the storm together.
They only hoped that in this lifetime, they could stay together, never to part.
...
Another year passed.
Martina had just come out of the restroom, holding a pregnancy test in her hand. Benjamin had been preparing for work and was holding his briefcase, ready to leave. In recent times, the company had taken on some new projects, which had been quite demanding. He had to travel back and forth daily.
However, because Martina had grown accustomed to this routine, she didn't feel any frustration or dissatisfaction. Instead, every time, it was Benjamin who seemed abandoned, needing to spend a long time getting close to her.
In the morning, as was his habit, Benjamin began chatting and joking with Martina. However, Martina surprised him by performing a kind of magic trick, producing a pregnancy test stick from behind and placing it in front of him.
"Wait a moment, Benjamin, there's something I need to tell you."
Without waiting for Martina to finish her sentence, Benjamin had already noticed the two lines on the pregnancy test stick. As a highly intelligent man, he clearly understood the significance of those lines. It was precisely because he understood it so well that, at that moment, he lost his composure.
"Are you pregnant?" Benjamin asked, his eyes wide open.
Martina, overwhelmed with joy, said, "Yeah, I guess it's been almost two months."
Upon hearing this, Benjamin swiftly withdrew the hand that had been reaching out to embrace Martina and took a stance by her side as if confronting a formidable adversary, asking, "Are you really pregnant?"
Martina nodded and said, "Did you think I was joking with you? So how do you feel now?"
Unexpectedly, Benjamin, who was always confident and composed in everything he did, now furrowed his brow in thought.
"Whether it's a boy or a girl, I'll be happy," he replied.
Martina poked Benjamin's forehead and said, "Please don't be so indifferent to everything that happens, okay?"
Benjamin responded, "Well, it doesn't matter. After all, I have a wife for life!"
