Chapter 172: An Opportunity
Trailing behind Amy were a group of socialites, their faces contorted with expressions of unease and panic. Their attention was fixed on Amy, and a cacophony of voices erupted as they all began speaking simultaneously, their words blending into a chaotic chatter.
The current situation had already exceeded their expectations, and they couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. "What should we do, Miss Paloma? Our people have all been taken away."
Another woman seemed to hold some resentment, though she didn't show it so obviously on the surface, fearing the consequences. "Miss Paloma, didn't you say there would be no problem with this matter, and you could teach Martina a lesson? How come now, everyone has been caught?"
"What if we accidentally expose ourselves? It's Benjamin we're talking about here. Offending him would surely lead to no good outcome!"
Everyone knew of Benjamin's reputation. It was widely known that if you angered him, there would be dire consequences. Even if you didn't die, you'd be left in a miserable state, which was the most unbearable situation.
That's also why many people dared not provoke Benjamin. He was just too ruthless towards his enemies, especially when dealing with those who offended him.
However, now they had unknowingly offended Benjamin, and the reality was completely different from what they had imagined. The gap was huge, and naturally, they felt uncomfortable.
Amy was also in turmoil, and hearing these people's remarks only made her more annoyed.
"You're the masters of shifting blame, huh?" Amy retorted. "When I decided to do this, I had your permission. Now you want to back out at the last moment? Forget it! It's not going to happen!"
Amy's facial expression seemed twisted, probably due to her genuine anger, or else she wouldn't have reacted like this.
Unfortunately, even with her reaction, it wouldn't cause much impact. The situation had almost stabilized.
"Regardless of the final outcome of this matter, we'll all share the hardships. Otherwise, I won't spare you!" Amy continued.
These socialites couldn't help but shiver, feeling truly panicked. If they had known earlier, they wouldn't have gotten themselves into this mess.
Regretting now wouldn't change anything, and they could only pray that the upcoming situation wouldn't be too ugly, or else they wouldn't be able to bear it.
Recalling the energy they had put into it before, Amy trembled. She had thought her plan was seamless and impossible to be discovered.
Who knew that Benjamin still bumped into them. If it was just Martina alone, nothing much would have happened. But once Benjamin got involved, the situation became uncertain.
At this moment, Amy's eyes flickered, showing clear signs of fear. She hoped that the upcoming result wouldn't disappoint her too much, or else the consequences would be unimaginable.
Two days flew by in the blink of an eye. Today, when Martina went to the studio for work, she saw Elena storming in angrily, holding a USB drive.
Almost instantly, Martina knew why Elena did this and asked with a confident tone, "Did you get the results?"
"The results are in. Based on what we have now, and the footage I investigated from the bar, it's definitely Amy!" Elena nodded, visibly infuriated, looking as if she wanted to kill someone.
"Although we don't have concrete evidence yet, Amy left the bar not long after we did, coming down from the upstairs. I don't believe such a coincidence could happen in the world." Elena continued with anger.
Just as Martina said, many coincidences in the world were actually intentional, which explained everything. In these short two days, it wasn't easy for Elena to investigate all this.
Martina patted Elena's arm in understanding and said, "Yeah, I got it. Leave the rest to me."
Elena looked bewildered and couldn't help asking, "By the way, Martina, what do you plan to do? Don't you need my help? At least I have some people on my side. If it doesn't work out, I'll have them give Amy a good lesson. In any case, we can't just let this go. She must pay a price; otherwise, she'll keep pushing and maybe escalate the situation next time."
Martina also thought the same way. However, if Elena were to handle it, it would be exposed to the public eye. After all, she was part of the entertainment circle, and if anything went wrong, it might affect the Rodríguez family's reputation.
The reason Martina didn't want Elena to continue handling this matter was that she wanted to handle it herself to avoid involving Elena's family. She didn't want it to affect their families' relationship, which wouldn't be good for anyone involved.
Suddenly, Elena took out her phone and saw a message in her SnapChat group. Her mouth curved into a smile, and she said, "Martina, I have a better idea."
Martina was intrigued and looked towards Elena, asking, "What's your idea?"
Elena smiled mysteriously and said, "There's a class reunion tomorrow, and Amy will be there too. Why don't we go together?"
Martina was immediately intrigued. She had been wrestling with the question of how to entice Amy out, as that was the only way to achieve the expected outcome. Unexpectedly, such a favorable opportunity arose so quickly.
A trace of a lingering smile appeared on Martina's face as she quickly adjusted her thoughts. Some things needed proper preparation in advance.
"Sure, let's go together tomorrow. Just make sure not to leak any information beforehand. If Amy gets suspicious, she might change her plans," Martina said.
Elena nodded in understanding, and her aura seemed to shift at that moment. "Don't worry; I'll handle it. You can trust me to get the job done. This time, Amy must pay a price. Giving her a slap won't be enough; I'll make sure she faces the consequences!"
It was evident that Elena genuinely disliked Amy, or else she wouldn't have spoken with such determination.
