Under Attack
The trouble started on a calm Monday morning when Victoria was getting ready in her office. She felt good after winning against Victor Kane, but her mood changed when she saw an urgent email from the State Bar Association.
Victoria frowned as she opened it. The email said there was a formal complaint against her for ethical violations in one of her recent cases. The details were unclear, but if the claims gained attention, it could hurt her career.
'What's going on?" Victoria said to herself, feeling worried. She had always followed the law carefully, but someone was trying to make her look bad.
She called her assistant, Sarah. 'Sarah, find everything on the Weston case," she said, referring to the case mentioned in the complaint. 'I need to understand what's happening."
While Sarah worked on it, Victoria thought about Daniella. She had no proof, but the timing seemed too perfect. Daniella had been acting hostile, and Victoria suspected she might be behind this. But the attack looked like it had help from someone who knew the details—maybe Michael Foster.
Sarah came in with a thick folder. 'Here's everything, but there's more. Some legal blogs are already talking about this, and some clients are worried."
Victoria took the folder, shaking a bit as she read. The claims were weak, but in law, how people see you can be more damaging than the truth. The blogs were already questioning her character, and the story was spreading quickly.
'Great," Victoria muttered, trying to think of a way to respond. She needed to control the situation before it got worse. But reading the complaint showed that whoever did this knew exactly where to hit her.
The rest of the day was filled with phone calls and meetings to manage the damage. Victoria reached out to her clients, trying to calm their fears, but she could sense their doubt. It was frustrating—she had worked hard for her career, and now a smear campaign was threatening it.
When Louis arrived that evening, Victoria was at her desk, overwhelmed and tired. Papers were scattered everywhere. Louis saw her distress immediately.
'What's wrong, Victoria?" he asked gently.
Victoria looked up, exhausted. 'It's Daniella," she said, her voice strained. 'Someone filed a complaint against me, and it's already all over the media."
Louis frowned, picking up a paper. 'A complaint? For what?"
'They say I mishandled a case and acted unethically. It's ridiculous, but if this gets worse, it could ruin everything. My clients are starting to doubt me, and I can't lose their trust."
Louis sat beside her, taking her hand. 'I'm sorry, Victoria. I know your work is important to you. We'll fight this, okay? We'll find out who's behind it."
Victoria squeezed his hand, thankful for his support but still feeling anxious. 'I'm just so tired, Louis. It feels like someone is always trying to bring me down."
Louis hugged her tightly. He knew Daniella was upset, but he never thought she would go this far to hurt Victoria. He loved his sister but couldn't let her destroy his wife.
'We'll get through this," Louis said softly, kissing her head. 'But I need to talk to Daniella. This needs to stop."
Victoria nodded, but she worried Daniella wouldn't listen. 'Just be careful, Louis. I don't want this to tear your family apart."
Louis smiled reassuringly, though he felt heavy inside. 'We're already a family, Victoria. I won't let anyone come between us—not even Daniella."
Later, Louis found Daniella in the family library, looking pleased as she scrolled through her phone. When she saw his serious expression, her mood changed.
'What's wrong, Louis?" Daniella asked, sounding indifferent. 'You look upset."
Louis closed the door and crossed his arms. 'We need to talk about Victoria."
Daniella rolled her eyes and put her phone down. 'What now? She's perfect, right? What's the issue?"
Louis took a deep breath. 'I know you're going after her. This complaint has your name all over it. You're trying to ruin her career.
Why, Daniella? What's the point?"
Daniella stood up, angry. 'The point is she's taken everything from us! She's turned you against me, and now she's acting like the hero. I'm sick of her."
Louis's expression softened, but he stayed firm. 'This isn't the way, Daniella. I know you're hurting, but this won't bring Dad back, and it won't make things better."
Daniella blinked back tears. 'I just want things to be how they were before she came along."
Louis stepped closer. 'I miss Dad too. But you're not fighting him; you're fighting me and this family. You're only tearing us apart."
Daniella looked away, defiant. 'She doesn't belong here, Louis. She never has."
Louis sighed, feeling sad. 'Victoria is my wife, and she's part of this family. But you're my sister, and I need you to stop. Please."
Daniella was silent, conflicted, and unable to meet his eyes. Finally, she whispered, 'I can't, Louis. I can't let her win."
Louis looked at her, feeling disappointed. He had hoped she would see the damage she was causing, but her anger was too strong.
'Then we're at a standstill," Louis said quietly, leaving. 'But remember, if you keep this up, you'll lose more than just your fight against Victoria. You'll lose your family."
As Louis walked away, Daniella felt torn between revenge and the realization that her actions were pushing her away from the only family she had. She wanted to believe she was right, but doubt crept in as she sat alone in the dim library.
Meanwhile, Victoria sat at her desk, preparing for the hardest fight of her life. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but with Louis by her side, she felt ready. She would clear her name and prove her worth, showing everyone she was more than the accusations against her.
Victoria was ready for whatever came next, but deep down, she understood that this battle was just the beginning. The real struggle was to secure her place in the Sebastian family—a challenge that would test her in ways she never expected.
And though the future was uncertain, Victoria was determined not to let Daniella's plans bring her down. She had worked too hard to give up now.
