A Dangerous Game
Louis walked back and forth in the living room of the Sebastian estate, feeling trapped by the news that Mark Caldwell had shared. The proof against Daniella was serious-she had been slowly poisoning Victoria, using her money and power to hide what she was doing. But there was a big problem: Daniella was still free and likely knew that they were onto her.
He needed to move quickly, but Daniella was making it hard. Every time they got close to catching her, she escaped, staying ahead of them. As long as she was free, Victoria was not safe.
Louis hit the table in frustration. How did it come to this? His sister, whom he had grown up with, was now his enemy, trying to ruin everything he cared about. Despite the evidence, Daniella still had the advantage. She had always been smart and would do anything to save herself.
The door opened, and Louis saw his mother, Elizabeth, come in, looking worried. She had not known much about the investigation, but now that they knew Daniella was behind the poisoning, the truth was out.
"Louis," Elizabeth said softly. "What's going on? I heard you're working with an investigator... about Daniella?"
Louis sighed, feeling overwhelmed. He had been avoiding this talk, knowing it would hurt his mother. But she deserved to know.
"Mom, it's worse than we thought," Louis said, his voice heavy. "Daniella has been poisoning Victoria. We have proof. She's been doing this for months on purpose."
Elizabeth gasped, covering her mouth. "No, that can't be true. Daniella wouldn't do that. She's your sister."
Louis felt angry but tried to stay calm. He knew this was hard for her. "I didn't want to believe it either, but it is true. We have the proof. She planned this."
Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears as she tried to understand. "But why? Why would she do something so awful?"
Louis shook his head, feeling angry. "I don't know. Maybe revenge or jealousy. But she's dangerous, Mom. We need to stop her."
Elizabeth sat down, shaking. "She's my daughter, Louis. She has made mistakes, but this... how could she do this?"
Louis knelt beside her. "I know this is hard, but we can't let her get away with it. We have to protect Victoria."
Elizabeth wiped her tears, looking shocked. "What are you going to do?"
"I'm working with the investigator to build a case," Louis explained. "We're going to the authorities, but Daniella is good at hiding. If she knows we're coming for her, she might run or do something worse."
Meanwhile, Daniella was already trying to protect herself. She felt nervous ever since she found out that Mark Caldwell was looking into her finances.
What started as a plan to ruin Victoria's reputation had turned into something much more serious, and she knew Louis was getting closer.
Daniella sat in her fancy apartment, tapping her fingers on the counter as she used her phone. She knew Louis might turn against her, but she didn't think it would happen so fast. Now, with the threat of being exposed, she needed to act.
She called someone on her phone, her voice calm as she spoke. "Gavin," she said firmly. "We have a problem. Caldwell is asking questions, and it won't be long before they trace everything back to me. I need you to erase any evidence you have. Now."
Gavin's voice was tense on the other end. "I've gotten rid of most of it, but some things are still out there. What about the money?"
"I'll take care of the money," Daniella snapped. "Just make sure there's nothing that can link this to me. If I go down, you go down too."
After hanging up, Daniella's mind raced with ideas. She had to stay ahead of this-find a way to distance herself from the poisoning while making sure Victoria was still out of the way. Louis was getting more desperate every day, and that could be her downfall.
Back at the Sebastian estate, tensions were high. With the news of Daniella's role in the poisoning, the already fragile family bonds were breaking apart. Victoria, still in the hospital, had learned about the situation, but it was too much for her to handle.
Louis visited her in the evening, hoping to comfort her, but the news had left her feeling defeated.
"How could she do this?" Victoria whispered, looking at the ceiling. "She was part of your family, Louis. Did she hate me that much?"
Louis felt heartbroken seeing her like this. "I don't know why she did it, Victoria. But I promise you, we'll make sure she pays for what she's done."
Victoria closed her eyes, tears falling down her cheeks. "I don't want revenge, Louis. I just want this nightmare to end."
Louis leaned in and kissed her forehead gently. "It will be over. I'll make sure of it."
But even as he said this, he knew the fight was far from finished. Daniella was skilled at staying ahead, and as long as she was free, they were still in danger. Louis had told Mark to speed up their work, but every time they got close, Daniella found a way to escape.
The family tension grew as news of Daniella's involvement spread. Elizabeth stuck between her love for both children, felt torn apart, while Robert and Margaret Watson, Victoria's parents, were furious. They were already struggling with their daughter's illness, and now knowing that someone in the family caused her suffering made them even angrier.
"We need to act now," Robert said to Louis, his voice shaking with rage. "Before she can hurt Victoria more."
Louis nodded, determined. "We will. But Daniella is smart. She has been hiding her tracks, and if we rush, she could disappear."
Margaret stepped forward, her eyes filled with anger. "Then don't rush it. But make sure she doesn't win. She can't get away with this."
Days passed in a tense blur as Louis and Mark worked hard to build their case. Every moment felt like a race against time, with Daniella staying just out of reach. But Louis knew they were getting closer. The evidence was piling up, and soon they would have enough to take her down.
But as Daniella continued to stay ahead, Louis realized this was not just about justice anymore-it was about survival. Daniella was cornered, and that made her more dangerous.
As the family continued to struggle with the betrayal, Louis knew that a showdown with his sister was unavoidable.
