The Mask of Innocence
Daniella was in her modern office, tapping her nails on the wooden desk while looking at the city outside. She felt a mix of happiness and anger because she had been ready for Louis's confrontation. His angry reaction was no surprise. Even after he stormed out of her apartment, thinking she was trying to ruin Victoria, Daniella kept a straight face and denied it.
Now, as she relaxed in her chair, a small smile appeared on her face. Lying about everything had been clever. It kept her innocent in Louis's eyes. He had no real proof, and the more he defended Victoria, the more it looked like he was trying to fix things. It was a trap, and he fell right into it.
A knock interrupted her thoughts, and Martin Lockhart, her trusted partner, entered with some papers.
"How did the meeting go?" Martin asked, sounding calm but curious.
Daniella smirked, her eyes shining with delight. "Just like I thought. Louis came in angry, blaming me for everything. I denied it all, of course."
Martin raised an eyebrow, slowly smiling. "And he believed you?"
"He had to," Daniella replied, leaning forward. "He's desperate. Victoria's life is falling apart, and he knows it. But I made sure my name stayed clean."
Martin laughed as he handed her the papers. "Good. While you keep things looking good, I have the next steps ready."
Daniella looked through the documents, feeling pleased. "Great. Let's make sure Victoria doesn't get a moment of peace. I want the next attacks to be stronger, and this time, it's personal."
Martin sat down across from her, looking intrigued. "What's the plan?"
Daniella's smile grew, her voice turning colder. "We're going to target her personal life. The press loves the story about her career falling apart, but now we need to show her marriage is in trouble too. I want rumors about her relationship with Louis-about their fights and struggles. We'll spread stories that suggest cheating and question their commitment. Make her seem unstable and desperate."
Martin agreed, his face showing approval. "We'll need some insiders for that. People who can pretend to know them and share those juicy details with the press."
Daniella's eyes sparkled. "I've already arranged that. A few whispers from people at the company and the right sources will help. Everyone will talk about their marriage falling apart."
She paused, thinking about the next steps. "Once we start that, we'll make it seem like Victoria is losing control. We'll leak rumors of her emotional issues and how she lashes out at those close to her. The public loves a good downfall, and I want them to think Victoria is spiraling."
Martin smiled cruelly. "It won't take much. She's already stressed from the embezzlement stories. We just need to push her a little more."
Daniella nodded, feeling excited. She had worked too hard to let Victoria win. This was her chance to ruin the woman who had taken everything from her. If that meant destroying her marriage, career, and reputation, so be it.
"Let's not stop there," Daniella said, her voice lowering. "I want Victoria to be alone. Let's spread rumors about her being hard to work with and not getting along with her team. We'll make her life miserable."
Martin grinned, eyes shining with agreement. "Consider it done. By the time we're finished, Victoria won't have a career or a marriage left."
Daniella's heart raced with satisfaction. She had waited too long for this. She had watched as Victoria took everything she believed should be hers. But now, Daniella was in control, orchestrating everything from behind the scenes as Victoria's world fell apart.
Meanwhile, Victoria was at home, staring blankly at her computer. Her phone buzzed with notifications, but she couldn't bring herself to check them. The press was relentless, and each new headline was worse than the last. Her career and reputation felt like they were slipping away, no matter how hard she fought.
The attack on her was harsh, and no matter how many times she denied the lies, the public wanted to believe the worst. Each story about her supposed embezzlement became more outrageous, and now there were rumors about her marriage. Anonymous sources claimed she and Louis were close to divorce and that their relationship was strained long before the scandal.
It was all false. Victoria knew that. But it didn't matter. The damage was done.
She picked up her phone and finally opened one of the articles that had just come out:
"Victoria Sebastian's Breakdown: Sources Close to the Couple Reveal a Shaky Marriage and Explosive Fights Behind Closed Doors."
Her heart sank as she read the article, her eyes scanning the made-up quotes. They painted her as unstable and out of control.
Tears filled her eyes as she put down her phone. She had worked so hard to build her career and prove herself, and now it was all being destroyed by lies. And deep down, she knew who was behind it all. Daniella.
But what could she do? Every attempt to clear her name seemed to make things worse. The media thrived on the scandal, and Victoria felt overwhelmed by it all.
As she sat there, feeling crushed, Louis entered the room. He looked pale and tense. He had been anxious ever since their argument with Daniella, and Victoria knew he was just as worn out as she was.
"I just saw the latest story," Louis said quietly, sitting beside her. "They're going after our marriage now."
Victoria nodded, her voice trembling. "It's Daniella. I know it is. She's trying to destroy me."
Louis's jaw clenched, his eyes filled with anger. "I confronted her, but she denied everything. I don't have proof."
Victoria looked away, tears welling up. "She's winning, Louis. She's ruining everything-my career, my reputation, our marriage... I don't know how to stop it."
Louis took her hand and squeezed it gently. "We'll figure this out. We'll fight back. I won't let her ruin us."
But even as Louis spoke, Victoria could see the fear in his eyes-the fear that Daniella's plan was working, that they were losing control of the situation. And as the press kept spreading lies, Victoria felt her world slipping further away.
Meanwhile, Daniella sat in her office, enjoying the chaos. She had denied everything to Louis, but behind the scenes, she was making sure every new story hurt Victoria. Soon, there would be nothing left of the woman who had taken everything from her.
