A Tempting Offer
Victoria sat in her office, looking at her computer but not seeing it. She was thinking about other things, far away from the legal documents piled on her desk. Since her fight with Louis, she had felt restless and anxious. The stress of the lawsuit, the poisoning, and her troubled marriage were wearing her down, and she didn't know how much longer she could manage it all.
A loud knock on the door brought her back to reality. She straightened up and was surprised to see Alex standing there, smiling confidently.
"Do you have a minute?" he asked, walking in without waiting for an answer.
Victoria nodded, closed her laptop, and tried to prepare herself. "What's up, Alex?"
He sat down across from her and looked around the office before focusing on her. "I've been thinking about our last talk. You mentioned how tough things are with Louis, the lawsuit, and the company. It's a lot to deal with. I want to offer you something that could help."
Victoria raised an eyebrow, curious but cautious. "I'm listening."
Alex leaned in, looking serious. "You've put so much into the Sebastian family, but you don't have to stay stuck in their problems forever. You're smart, Victoria, and you deserve to lead something that's your own. Something free from scandals and endless company fights."
Victoria's heart raced as she realized where this was going. "Go on."
"I've spoken to my investors," Alex said, his voice low and convincing. "They're excited about bringing you on board-not just as a consultant, but as a full partner. You would own part of the company and have a say in its future. We could create something amazing together, away from family drama and legal issues."
Victoria was shocked. A full partnership? The offer was more than she expected and felt like a path to freedom from the stress of the Sebastian family and from being Louis's wife.
But it also felt risky.
"I'm not sure if I can just leave everything," she said slowly, uncertainty in her voice. "The company, the lawsuit, Louis... It's all connected. Leaving now would feel like I'm giving up on everything I've worked for."
Alex shook his head, his tone firm but kind. "You're not giving up, Victoria. You're choosing to invest in yourself. You've spent years fighting for the Sebastian family, but now you have the chance to create your future, to be more than just 'Louis's wife' or a Sebastian Industries executive."
Her heart sank as his words hit her. She had never thought of herself as just part of Louis or the family, but recently, that's how she felt-caught in their problems. The idea of stepping away felt like a lifeline.
Alex watched her closely, sensing her struggle. "You don't have to decide right now. Think about it. You can stay and keep fighting battles that aren't yours, or you can take this chance to build something that's truly yours."
Victoria looked down at her hands, her mind racing. The idea was tempting. With Alex, there would be no family drama or pressure to be anything other than the strong, ambitious woman she wanted to be. The thought of leaving the chaos of the Sebastian family and distancing herself from Louis was more appealing than she wanted to admit.
But could she do it?
"I don't know, Alex," she said quietly. "It's not easy. My life has been tied to the Sebastians for so long. I'm not sure how to let go."
Alex reached across the desk and touched her hand, warmth spreading through her. "You don't have to let go of everything. You deserve a fresh start, Victoria. I'm offering you that. A real partnership, a chance to create something new. You don't have to carry on with their problems anymore."
Victoria's breath caught in her throat as she looked into his eyes. His offer was more than a business deal; it felt personal. He wasn't just helping her escape the Sebastian family's issues; he was inviting her to a new life without the complications that had been dragging her down.
For a moment, she imagined it. Leaving behind lawsuits, board meetings, and tension with Louis. Taking Alex's hand and building something new, exciting, and free from the baggage of the Sebastian name.
It was tempting.
But doubt crept in. Could she leave Louis after everything? Would it be wrong to walk away now when everything was falling apart?
She pulled her hand back, her heart racing. "I need time to think."
Alex nodded, understanding in his eyes. "Take all the time you need. Just know the offer is still there, and it's not just about business."
Victoria felt a rush of emotions at his words. She stood up, needing space to think clearly.
"I'll think about it," she said, steadying her voice as she gathered her things. "But right now, I need to focus on the lawsuit and everything else."
Alex stood up too, his smile warm but knowing. "I understand. Just don't take too long. You deserve this chance."
As she left the office, her thoughts swirled with temptation, doubt, and guilt. She had always been strong and in control, but now she felt lost.
On one side was Louis-the man she loved, who had always been there for her, but who also represented the heavy legacy of the Sebastian family. On the other side was Alex-offering her freedom, respect, and a chance for a new future.
With each passing day, the temptation to leave it all behind grew stronger.
