Brother and Sister
Every waking moment was being taken up by Victoria and Louis over the legal battle with Michael Foster. The case dragged along, despite their best attempts, each new hearing and deposition taking its part in eroding their resolve. Yet, among the court dates, strategies, and all the chaos going on, Louis just could not shake the feeling that they were missing something in how somebody close to them helped Michael more than for revenge.
Louis had tried to put it out of his mind, hoping the extent of Daniella's involvement was her anger and bitterness. But as weeks went by, little discrepancies began to gnaw at him. Something Daniella said about the lawsuit that she should not have known was a look of satisfaction when the media came out with a story on the case that hurt the family, all pointing to deeper involvement.
Determined to get to the bottom of it, Louis started digging. He began reviewing internal communications, cross-referencing timelines, and quietly interviewing employees who might have insight into the situation. It was slow, meticulous work, but Louis was determined to stop whatever was happening that had the potential to destroy his wife and his family's legacy from within.
It was on one of those evenings, going through a batch of e-mails that flagged from the company's IT department, that Louis found what he had been dreading: a string of exchanges between Daniella and Michael, discussing strategies to undermine Victoria. The emails were detailed, outlining how they would fabricate evidence and manipulate the media to paint Victoria as the villain. All this time, she had been feeding Michael insider information, using her access to the company to fuel the very lawsuit that was threatening to destroy them.
Louis watched the screen as his heart plummeted. He knew Daniella was angry, but he hadn't expected it to go this far. She was his sister, his blood, and she'd aligned herself with their enemy in an unforgivable way.
Unable to sit with the revelation any longer, Louis printed the emails and made his way to Daniella's room. His footsteps were heavy, each step filled with disappointment and anger. He rapped at the door, and as Daniella opened it, he could almost feel the surprise and a little apprehension on her face.
"Daniella, what's going on?" Daniella asked a guarded tone to her voice.
Louis said nothing but held up a stack of printed emails while his face contorted in a mix of hurt and anger. "I found these," he said in a low voice, while furor climbed underneath. "Care to explain?
Instantly, Daniella's eyes had widened in the pages, and the content was so familiar. She opened her mouth to say something but could not utter a word. Her face flushed, and she took one step backward, stammering.
"You've been working with Michael," Louis continued, his voice rising. "You've been helping him attack Victoria, feeding him information, and trying to destroy everything our family has built. Why, Daniella? Why would you do this?"
Daniella tried to compose herself, her hands shaking as she reached for the emails. "Louis, it's not what you think-"
"Not what I think?" Louis said, interrupting him, his voice breaking with emotion. "These emails show exactly what you've been up to. You've been plotting against your own family, against me, for what? To get back to Victoria? To prove some sort of twisted point?
The anger flashed across Daniella's eyes and her defenses fell into place: "She has ruined everything, Louis. She turned you against me, she has usurped the company, and she has made us all pieces in her game. I just could not sit and let her win.".
Louis shook his head. The pain brought about by Daniella's betrayal was well reflected in his eyes. "Victoria didn't turn me against you, Daniella. You did that yourself. You have allowed your hatred to blind you and consume you to the extent that you are willing to burn down our whole family just to get back at her.
Daniella's voice rose, her frustration bubbling over. "I was trying to protect us! I was trying to make sure that she didn't destroy what Dad built!"
"Protect us?" Louis scoffed, his tone disbelieving. "By conspiring with Michael Foster? By making up evidence and taking us through a lawsuit that is tearing the company to pieces? This isn't protection, Daniella. It's sabotage."
Daniella clenched her fists, her eyes welling up with frustration and anger. "You don't understand. You've always taken her side. You've never seen what she's doing."
Louis's expression gentled, but his tone remained firm. "What I see is my sister so blinded by jealousy that she's willing to betray her own family. I see someone who's lost sight of what it means to be a Sebastian.
Daniella looked away, her shoulders shaking, trying to hold back her tears. She had so easily justified it in her mind that she had been fighting for her family now, faced with the undeniable truth of her betrayal, she couldn't escape the guilt.
"I thought... I thought if only I could make her go away, then everything would go back to the way it was," Daniella said softly, her voice shaking. "I just wanted our family back."
Louis felt a pang in his heart as he watched his sister struggle with her emotions. He stepped forward, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We are still a family, Daniella. But you have to stop this. You have to let go of this hatred and find a way to move forward. We cannot continue tearing into each other.".
She looked up at him, pain and regret swimming in her eyes. "I don't know how to fix this, Louis. I've messed everything up."
Louis sighed in exasperation, his hold on her shoulder tightening. "You can start by coming clean. Tell the truth about what you have done, what Michael has been doing. Help fight back instead of tearing us down.
The weight of her decisions weighed heavily on Daniella, and she was fully aware that confessing would make her face the music, both from her family and from the public. But then she looked over at her brother, and she knew she couldn't run anymore.
"Okay," she whispered, her voice small but determined. "I'll do it. I'll help."
Louis nodded. The relief and sadness tore at his insides. "It's a start. But now it's going to take time for us to heal from this, Daniella. You've hurt a lot of people, including yourself."
Daniella nodded, her head hung low in shame. "I'm sorry, Louis. I am.
Louis pulled her into a tight hug, holding her close as she broke down in his arms. For all the anger and disappointment he felt, she was still his sister, and he couldn't turn his back on her no matter how deep the betrayal was.
"We'll get through it," Louis said softly, quiet determination laced into his voice. "But you have to be honest from now on. No more lies, no more scheming."
Daniella nodded as tears seeped into Louis's shirt. "I promise."
They stood there, the weight of the confrontation settling over them, and Louis knew it would be a long and painful road in piecing back their family. For the first time in months, he began to feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, they'd find a way to come back from the brink.
With Daniella's cooperation, they would have the upper hand they needed to take on Michael Foster and bring the legal battle to rest once and for all. This was not going to be easy; the scars of Daniella's betrayal would remain, but Louis was ready for the fight family, Victoria, and what Malcolm Sebastian had built.
It was a painful confrontation, but it was a turning point: a real opportunity for the Sebastians to start healing the rifts that had all but ripped them apart. Having Victoria by his side, Louis knew they could face whatever lay ahead. And they would have to.
