The sharp smell of antiseptic filled the air as Louis walked nervously outside Victoria's hospital room. He felt frustrated and worried, thinking about the worst things that could happen. Hours had passed since the doctors took Victoria for tests, and he was left waiting again. He wanted answers about why her health was getting worse. But every time the doctors returned, the news was always the same. Inconclusive.
Louis clenched his fists, trying to stay calm. He felt powerless, watching his wife struggle while he could do nothing. He hoped someone would find out what was wrong, but the longer he waited, the more anxious he felt. The doctors seemed confused, and with each hour that went by, his frustration grew.
"Mr. Sebastian?"
Louis turned to see Dr. Patel coming toward him, looking serious. Louis's heart sank, preparing for more unclear information.
"What's the latest?" he asked, his voice tense.
Dr. Patel paused, looking at the chart in his hands. "We've done all the tests. So far, we haven't found anything clear. There's no sign of any common poisons or toxins in her body."
Louis felt his frustration boil over. "So, what are you saying? That nothing's wrong? Because something is happening to her, and no one can explain it."
Dr. Patel sighed, speaking gently but with concern. "I understand your frustration, Mr. Sebastian. We know her symptoms are serious. But without clear results, it's hard to find out what's causing them. We will run more tests, but it may take time to get answers."
"Time?" Louis said, anger in his voice. "She doesn't have time. She's getting worse, and every day we wait without answers is another day she suffers."
Dr. Patel nodded slightly. "We're doing everything we can. We will keep a close watch on her. If anything changes, you'll be the first to know."
As the doctor walked away, Louis sat down in a chair outside the room, his head in his hands. He felt overwhelmed. The one person he wanted to protect was in danger, and he couldn't do anything to help. He suspected that someone named Daniella was behind this, but without proof, he felt helpless.
Inside the room, Victoria lay in bed, pale and weak, struggling to breathe. She had been drifting in and out of sleep since her episode the night before, and the tiredness felt heavy on her. Every part of her body hurt, her mind was cloudy, and the fear of not knowing what was wrong was pushing her to her limits.
When Louis came into the room, he looked worried. She could see how much this was affecting him, and it broke her heart. They were both trapped in a nightmare with no end, and each day without answers felt like they were getting closer to the brink.
"Any news?" she asked quietly.
Louis shook his head, looking grim. "They still don't know. The tests came back inconclusive again."
Victoria sighed shakily, her eyes closing for a moment as she absorbed the news. "So, I'm just stuck like this? They can't find anything wrong, but I keep getting worse?"
Louis sat beside her and took her hand. "They're running more tests. They're trying everything they can. We'll get answers, I promise."
But even as he spoke, Victoria could hear the doubt in his voice. He was trying to be strong for her, but she could see the cracks showing. The stress from the media, Daniella's attacks, and now her health issues were pulling them apart.
"I'm scared, Louis," she said, her voice shaking. "What if we never find out what's wrong? What if I don't get better?"
Louis tightened his grip on her hand, hurt by the fear in her eyes. "We're going to figure this out. I won't lose you."
Victoria fought back tears, feeling tightness in her throat. She wanted to believe him, but the endless bad news made it hard to keep hope. The pain, fatigue, and constant worry were too much for her to handle. And deep down, she feared that whatever was wrong might be impossible to fix.
"We've been through so much already," she whispered, her voice fragile. "What if this is too much? What if we can't get through it?"
Louis felt a pang in his heart seeing her so vulnerable. They had faced many challenges together, but this felt different. This felt like they were nearing a point of no return.
"I know it feels like that," Louis said softly, his voice thick with emotion. "But we're going to fight this. Together. I will never give up on you."
Victoria nodded, though the fear still lingered. She wanted to trust his words, but the constant stream of bad news made it hard to believe they would come out okay.
Days passed slowly, filled with more tests and frustration. The hospital felt like their second home, and the tension between them grew with each inconclusive result. Victoria's health continued to worsen-she was weaker, paler, and more fragile.
Louis stayed by her side all the time, refusing to leave, but the strain was wearing on him too. He felt crushed by his inability to help.
He was used to fixing problems, but this was beyond his control. The lack of answers was driving him crazy.
One afternoon, while Victoria slept, Louis paced the hospital room, his mind racing. His phone buzzed, and he saw a message from Mark Caldwell, the private investigator.
"I've looked into Daniella's recent activities. There are some suspicious money transfers. I'll keep looking, but this could be the clue we need."
Louis's heart raced as he read the message. This might be the proof they needed to connect Daniella to whatever was happening to Victoria. If Daniella was involved, this could be the start of uncovering the truth.
But he wondered how far Daniella would go and how much more Victoria could take before they found the answers.
Later that evening, Victoria woke from restless sleep, her body sore and breathing difficult. Louis was sitting next to her, holding her hand, looking at her with love and sadness.
"I got a message from Mark," he said quietly. "He's checking into Daniella. There's something suspicious-money transfers. He'll keep looking."
Victoria opened her eyes, her voice weak but resigned. "Even if we find out it's her... what then? What if it's too late?"
Louis's heart ached as he heard her. He refused to accept that it could be too late. They couldn't lose to Daniella.
"We'll stop her," Louis promised, his voice firm. "I swear, Victoria. We're going to stop her."
But as Victoria closed her eyes again, too tired to reply, Louis couldn't shake the fear that time was running out-and that the answers they desperately needed were slipping further away.
