Tensions Rise
The boardroom at Sebastian Industries was bright with morning light, its modern look contrasting with the emotions about to unfold.
Louis sat at the head of the table, tapping his fingers nervously and looking tense. Across from him, Victoria seemed calm but distracted, and next to her was Alex Hart, the last person Louis wanted in his company.
The room was filled with unspoken tension as they got ready for what should have been a simple meeting. But for Louis, this meeting was more than just business; it was about keeping Victoria close as she seemed to drift away from him.
Victoria had come to the meeting at Louis's request, but it took a lot of convincing. They were discussing a big deal-Alex's company wanted to partner with them, which could help Sebastian Industries during a tough time. Louis knew they needed this deal, but the personal issues made it hard.
Alex's presence was driving a wedge between Louis and Victoria, and working with him felt painful. But they had to focus on business.
"Shall we start?" Louis said sharply, staring at Alex.
Alex smiled, ignoring the tension. "Sure. We all know this partnership could help, especially with the recent negative press about your family. My firm can help improve your public image and finances."
Victoria looked between them, sensing the growing conflict. She had hoped for a simple meeting but could feel Louis's jealousy.
Meanwhile, Alex was calm and confident, which Louis didn't like.
"Louis, let's focus on the opportunity," Victoria said softly, trying to ease the tension. "This could be what the company needs."
Louis clenched his jaw, holding his pen tightly. "I know that," he replied, narrowing his eyes. "But I wonder how much of this is about business and how much is personal."
Victoria was surprised by his accusation, but Alex stayed relaxed. "This is a business deal, Louis. If you think otherwise, we should clarify."
The tension in the room rose, and Victoria felt anxious. This was turning into the fight she had feared.
"Louis, please," Victoria said firmly. "Let's keep it professional. We all want what's best for the company."
But Louis wasn't backing down. His anger had built up, and seeing Alex there, acting as if he could fix everything for Victoria, was too much.
"Professional?" Louis scoffed, frustrated. "This isn't just about the company. I see how he looks at you, Victoria. This has been personal since he came back."
Victoria felt hurt by his words. She knew Louis was jealous, but she didn't realize how much it affected him. This wasn't just a business deal; it was about Louis feeling he was losing her.
"Louis, stop," Victoria said, her voice shaking. "This isn't the right time."
Alex, sensing things were getting out of hand, raised his hands in peace. "I'm not here to cause trouble. This deal helps both sides. If you're uncomfortable, we can rethink it."
Louis's patience snapped. "You don't understand. This isn't just about the company. You've been trying to get into her life ever since you returned."
Victoria felt frustrated as she turned to Louis. "This is why I didn't want to come. I thought we could focus on business, but you're making it personal."
Louis looked at her, his voice breaking. "It's about both, Victoria. I'm trying to protect what we have, but it feels like you're slipping away. Now I have to watch him offer you what I can't?"
Silence filled the room, and Victoria felt torn between the two men. She knew Louis was hurting, but his jealousy was pushing her away.
"I'm not slipping away," Victoria said quietly, though she wasn't sure if that was true. "But this isn't how to fix things. We need to work together, not fight."
Alex cleared his throat, uncomfortable with the situation. "Maybe we should pause this for now. There are more important issues."
Louis's anger flared. "You'd love that, wouldn't you? For me to back down while you take over."
Victoria shook her head in frustration. "Louis, stop! I'm not a prize to fight over. We're here for the company, and if you can't see that, maybe we should end this meeting."
Her sharp tone surprised both men and the room fell silent. Louis took deep breaths to control his emotions, while Alex watched the tension unfold.
Victoria stood up, looking pale and exhausted. "I need some air," she said, her voice shaky. "We'll talk about the deal later."
Without another word, she left the boardroom, leaving Louis and Alex in an awkward silence.
Outside the boardroom, Victoria leaned against the wall, trying to calm down. She felt overwhelmed by Louis's jealousy, Alex's offers, and the business pressure. It seemed like her life was out of control.
Soon, Alex joined her, looking concerned. "Are you okay?"
Victoria nodded, but she didn't feel okay. "I'm just... tired, Alex. I don't know how to deal with this anymore."
Alex sighed softly. "I didn't mean to make things worse. I just wanted to help."
"I know," Victoria whispered. "But it's too much. Louis is right-I feel like I'm slipping away, and I don't know what to do."
Alex looked at her with sympathy. "You don't have to decide everything now. Just take it step by step."
Victoria looked up at him, feeling conflicted. She felt stuck between two paths, knowing someone would get hurt no matter what.
"I wish it were that easy," she said sadly.
Alex gave her a small smile. "Maybe it can be."
But as they stood there, Victoria knew that choosing between staying with Louis or accepting Alex's life was not easy. The situation was becoming more complicated every day, and soon she would have to make a choice.
