Shane Part 1
A month has passed since the terrible incident I experienced at the hospital when Harry's ghost locked up my soul. Angie and Mr. Leo have been released from the hospital; their condition has returned to health, and I am relieved, especially after knowing my misunderstanding with Leo. I had thought he was mad at me because of the Sarah ghost incident that hurt Angie, but apparently, that was just my thinking. Leo returned to greet me kindly when I visited him. He even invited me to chat as usual. With this, there is no regret in my heart. Everything is running normally. So it is with my life and Sean.
We've returned to the dormitory to continue our studies. Even though things didn't go too well for us on campus because we missed so many courses and the piles of assignments waiting for us. Sean and I spend our time busy doing our terms, so we rarely spend time together these days, even on Sundays. It makes me very uncomfortable. I miss him so much. And today is our first meeting after a long separation for me, even though it was only a few weeks.
Like his promise at the hospital at the time, he promised to take me to his house when his mother returned. Here we are now. I was sitting pretty on Sean's motorbike while my hands were tightly wrapped around Sean's waist, while Sean was focused on riding his motorbike. We were on our way to Sean's house. Honestly, right now, I'm very nervous. This is my first meeting with Sean's mother. I hope that everything will work out and his mother will like me. I hope to be close and intimate with his mother later, like Sean, who is near and personal with my parents.
Our motorbike kept going without stopping. We went on this trip in silence because I was tired of bothering Sean, who was focused on driving. I didn't want what happened before when I pinched him while he was riding his motorbike, and it ended with me getting Sean's hard slap on my forehead. Because of that, I prefer to be silent and enjoy the scenery we pass.
Then Sean stopped his motorbike when we arrived at a towering gate. Security opened the gate when he saw us. Sean started his motorbike again and stopped when we were in front of a very magnificent house. A three-story home with a large yard with a statue emitting a fountain is fantastic. The expansive yard was filled with grass, not forgetting that various flowers were growing there.
I was even more amazed when I entered his house. All the things that adorn this house must be of high value. I never knew Sean's parents were this rich. I knew Sean's late father was a lawyer, and his mother was a career woman with multiple businesses. Meanwhile, his stepfather was a reasonably high-ranking policeman, but I never thought his house would be this big.
"Young Master Sean, welcome." A middle-aged woman approached us and bowed slightly to Sean. It looks like she's one of the servants in this house.
"Mom, where's mom?" he asked.
"In her study, Young Master."
"Hmm, OK. Thank you," he said, then walked away from the aunt holding my hand. My nervousness now turns into panic, which makes my heart race fast.
"Why are your hands cold?" asked Sean, who seemed to notice my nervousness.
"I-I'm so nervous. I'll be seeing your mother soon."
"Huh? Why be nervous? Don't worry, she won't eat you." Huh, that statement made me even more nervous.
We arrived at a closed door. Sean knocked on it, and after hearing a woman's voice from inside the room asking us to enter, we immediately went inside.
The objects in this room are filled with books neatly arranged on shelves, very typical of a workspace.
"Mom, I brought Leslie. Leslie, this is my mother," said Sean, who instantly made me stare at a middle-aged woman who seemed to be the same age as my mother, sitting in her chair facing several computers lined up on her desk. The woman got up from her seat and walked towards us.
Beautiful and graceful, that was my first image when I saw Sean's mother.
"Silva Maxwell," she said, holding her hand to me. I rushed to take her hand.
"L-Leslie Felicia. Nice to meet you, Auntie," I replied as friendly and politely as possible. I felt Sean's mom staring at me for a moment, making me feel even more nervous to be watched like that.
"You are beautiful, sit down." We sat on the sofa in the room.
"You want a drink?" she asked me. I don't know. I felt she was very strict and cold. Now I understand Sean's personality has passed on from his mother.
"No, thank you, Aunt," I replied politely.
"So you're Sean's college friend?" I was surprised to hear her question. Maybe Sean didn't tell her that I was his Girlfriend? I'm disappointed if that's true.
"I told mom, right? She's my Girlfriend. My Girlfriend," Sean said emphatically, which relieved me instantly.
"Oh yes. Remember Sean, if you want to be like your late father, you must learn a lot; don't date too often." Hearing her say that made me feel slightly disappointed. Could it be that his mother doesn't like me?
"My ideals and my relationship with Leslie have nothing to do with it. Besides, I study very hard.
"In that case, good. Now, Leslie, what are you majoring in?" I cringed when Sean's mother suddenly asked me again.
"Economics, Aunt."
"Hm, you also have to study hard, don't let your parents be disappointed."
"Y-yes, Aunt."
"How long have you two been dating?" she asked again. Sean was silent, so I decided to return to answer her.
"Ever since we were in high school."
"It's been quite a while. Anyway, for now, you have to prioritize your studies more, don't get distracted by other things. You understand, right? Remember Aunt's message, OK, Leslie," she said with a slight smile.
"Y-yes, Aunt. I will always remember it."
"Tsk, it's like you've never felt your youth." Sean's words that sounded mocking, I know, were aimed at his mother. I was surprised to see Sean act like that to his mother. His mother didn't seem to care either. She got up from her seat and walked over to her desk. She took something. I don't know what it was; I didn't pay much attention.
"Leslie, I'm sorry I couldn't chat with you for a long time. Aunt still has business outside. You just relax here, make yourself at home, OK?"
"Y-yes, Aunt. Thank You." She just walked away, leaving me and Sean in her study. However, I'm sure I'm not hallucinating. I saw the figure of a man floating behind Sean's mother. He followed Sean's mother. I'm sure it's a ghost figure. However, why did the ghost follow Sean's mother? Sean was still silent. Somehow, I felt the atmosphere become awkward between us.
