Lucas Part 8
The next day, my friends and I decided to go sightseeing around the Mansion by car. Of course, Sean was driving the vehicle. I last spoke to Sean last night. Since I woke up, I helped Muggie cook in the kitchen. Before leaving for the Mansion, Leyna had bought a lot of instant food for our needs while at the Mansion. Instant food that makes it easy for us to cook it.
The area here is still lovely and quite remote. There were several residents we encountered along the way. Some fields and plantations stretch wide, not far from the Mansion. Some residents were seen working there. This beautiful and beautiful view spoils my eyes and makes me forget all my problems for a moment.
Our car stopped when we arrived at a lake with clear water. A group of white swans swimming in the lake caught my attention, making me stand on the lake's edge. My amazement at the beauty of this wild nature made my mind that I once felt the decision to come to this Mansion was a big mistake now wholly turned into a fortune for me. I'm so lucky I came here so I can enjoy this beauty. Beauty that I can no longer see in the city because there are already too many skyscrapers standing firmly there. Or enjoy this cool air that I can't breathe in the city because the air is already polluted.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" A voice from beside me distracted all my attention from the white swans. Carl's figure was standing proudly beside me.
"Yes, this is very beautiful. We can't possibly see a sight like this in the city," I said with my gaze fixed on the lake again. By looking at the clear water, I can confirm how fresh the lake water is, making my body itch to want to get into it and swim there.
"Leslie, you're all right? Since the incident at the swimming pool yesterday, you've been locked up in your room all day. I'm really worried about you. I also want to apologize to you. I didn't mean to be rude to you, which I did at the pool yesterday, really I was just kidding. I just want to make you laugh, I don't like to see you depressed alone," he said softly, which again distracted my attention and made me stare at him again.
"I'm fine, sorry for worrying you. I also know you were just joking and trying to cheer me up yesterday. I'm not mad at you anyway."
"You must be hurt to hear what Sean said yesterday, huh?" I was just silent. I don't want to talk about yesterday's incident. My perfect mood today was disturbed again when Carl reminded me of that painful incident.
"I think Sean doesn't love me anymore. I have to learn to accept it. Maybe what you said is true. I have to learn to open my heart to other men," I replied, lowering my head and looking at my hands holding each other.
"Hey, I have an idea to find out Sean's true feelings for you." I lifted my head and stared at Carl's face in complete astonishment. He brought his face closer to mine and whispered right in my ear.
"What if we pretend to be making out? We'll see how Sean reacts, does he…"
Carl's words were cut short when someone's hand grabbed him roughly.
Instantly, Carl fell when Sean struck him in the face. Of course, I was wide-eyed at this, especially when I saw the corners of Carl's lips bleeding, indicating that Sean's punch was not a joke. Carl got up while wiping the blood on his lips with his thumb.
"Why Sean? You are jealous? I remember yesterday you said you didn't mind seeing me approach Leslie. Then what is this? Why did you hit me?" Carl said with a mocking smile on his face.
"I told you to keep that attitude!!" Sean snapped, his face red with anger.
"What did I do to Leslie? I don't think what I did was worth the way you treated Leyna. You and Leyna even kissed in front of Leslie."
Sean beats Carl again, but Carl doesn't stay silent this time. He also put up a fight. However, Sean's martial arts skills are superior to Carl's because Carl's condition is already battered. Even I was horrified to see his face, which was bruised and bleeding from Sean's punch.
Me, Muggie, and even Leyna kept screaming while trying to separate them. But it was useless. The three of us could not move against the energy of the two men, who were both overwhelmed by the overflowing emotions within them.
Carl repeatedly fell, and Sean, without mercy, beat Carl. Suddenly, Sean behaved strangely. He holds his head like I've seen it happen to him lately. Maybe he's feeling the pain in his chair again?
Carl took advantage of the situation. He got up and beat Sean back. Now, Sean's condition is no less pathetic than Carl's.
"STOP CARL! IT'S ENOUGH! PLEASE STOP!!" I screamed at Carl. My shout had quite an effect on Carl as he finally stopped his attack. I rushed over to Sean, who was collapsing on the ground.
"Sean, are you okay?" I asked, looking pitifully at his bruised and bleeding face. Sean stared angrily at me, pushing me so hard that I fell to the ground.
"Leslie, stay away from Sean!! It's all because of your fault they started fighting like this. Are you satisfied now for causing Sean and Carl to fight over you?!" Leyna shouted, who was already crouching near Sean at this time.
"Stay away, Sean. Let me take care of him. You better take care of your new boyfriend!!" she shouted again. My heart hurt again when I saw that Sean did not refuse Leyna's attention.
I finally walked away from them and approached Carl, who was with Muggie.
"Why did it happen? Exactly what were you and Carl doing to make Sean mad? Are you having an affair with Carl now, Leslie?" It was Muggie who asked this angrily. A question that made me gasp that second. I didn't do anything with Carl. Sean just misunderstood us. But why should he be so angry? Didn't he clearly say he no longer cared about me even though he saw me close to another man?
"Sean is my cousin and Carl is my best friend since junior high school, so don't make fun of them both. If you're still dating Sean, you shouldn't be with Carl. I'm disappointed in you, Leslie."
"You misunderstood, Muggie. Carl and I are not what you think," I said, trying to explain what had happened to Muggie.
"Leyna told me about yesterday's incident at the pool. Even though I wouldn't say I like Leyna's attitude of always teasing Sean, I don't think you're not much different from her either. I'm so disappointed in you and Leyna. Especially you, Leslie. I didn't expect you to be any different from Leyna." I can't hold back my tears anymore, especially hearing Muggie, who misunderstood me.
"It's not what you think, Muggie." This time it was Carl who tried to explain what happened to Muggie. However, Muggie ignored him and chose to get in the car.
Shortly after that, we decided to return to the Mansion. Again, Sean, who was driving the car, seemed in better condition.
Arriving at the Mansion, Leyna treated Sean's wound while I treated Carl's. Muggie, I don't know. She's not here. As soon as she arrived at the Mansion, she walked into the Mansion without saying anything. Maybe she's in her room now.
"You better rest in your room, Carl," I said after dressing his wound.
"Or are you hungry? I will prepare food for you."
"No need, Leslie. Thank you for taking care of me. I'd better rest in my room." Carl tried to get up, but his body staggered and almost fell. I rushed to help him walk by, supporting him.
Carl and I were going up the stairs when my attention was diverted to Sean and Leyna sitting on chairs near the stairs. Leyna looks like she's still busy treating Sean's wound while Sean is staring at me and Carl with his gaze that's hard to decipher.
Carl and I continued in our footsteps. I left him when we arrived at his room.
That day, the atmosphere between us all was very awkward. We decided to be in our respective rooms instead of hanging out together. Muggie, who usually diligently prepared food for us, didn't seem to care, so we had to prepare our food.
What we thought would be a fun vacation was very dull. I even want to leave this Mansion even more.
