Lucas Part 19
I and Grandma Calista, accompanied by several residents in this area, left for the Mansion. The rain had stopped despite the dark sky because it was only 3 a.m. I don't know why tonight seems so long to me.
When we finally arrived in front of the Mansion, something strange caught my eye. The Mansion from the outside already looks luxurious and magnificent, but this time, the Mansion seems old and dirty. I don't understand this at all. How could the Mansion's condition change in just a matter of hours?
"This is so weird," I muttered without realizing it.
"Why Leslie?" Asked Grandma Calista, who was standing beside me.
"That Mansion... even though when my friends and I saw it, the Mansion looked luxurious and magnificent but why does it look like an old building, very dirty?" I clearly expressed all the strangeness that I felt.
"Looks like Lucas has tricked you and your friends with the illusion he showed you. I was amazed when this stubborn man insisted on buying this Mansion and said he had fallen in love as soon as he saw it. At that time I was wondering why that man was so interested in this old Mansion. Now I understand the reason: Lucas did this on purpose. He tricked you with the illusion he created." Calista's grandmother spoke at such length that I could hardly believe it. All the luxury we see in the Mansion is just an illusion.
"Impossible," I muttered again.
"You think how can a Mansion that has been unoccupied and not maintained for 53 years still look luxurious and majestic? Surely the Mansion will turn into a dirty old building, right?" Yes, what Grandma Calista said is true. So far, we've only seen the illusion created by Lucas' ghost.
All of us standing in front of the Mansion were surprised by the main door that suddenly opened itself as if the occupants had opened it on purpose and told us to come inside.
"Is the door open?" Asked Grandma Calista, who, of course, couldn't see the scene in front of her. Maybe she just guessed from the sound she heard.
"Yeah, the door opened on its own."
"As I thought, Lucas's goal was letting you leave this Mansion because he knew you would ask for my help. The main reason he created illusions on you guys and took your comrades as hostages was to drag me here. He knew I couldn't be that cruel to ignore your safety. All this time, he couldn't hurt me because he couldn't get out of the sealed Mansion. From the start, what he wanted most was my death." I was wide-eyed hearing Grandma Calista's story. I know that only she can stop Lucas's ghost terror, but letting her lose her life to save us, I don't know, I can't bear to do it. This is not true. I don't want anyone to fall victim to Lucas's ghost crimes again.
"Come on in, Leslie!" asked Grandma Calista while holding my hand. She started to walk. I finally had to lead her to step.
"Leslie, promise me. Our main goal in entering the Mansion is to save your friends. Therefore, whatever happens to me in there, don't you care? Immediately get your friends out of the Mansion." I could feel something terrible would happen to Grandma Calista, but I realized that I couldn't do anything at the moment other than agree to her request.
"Leslie, promise me. I won't go inside until I hear you promise me."
"All right, Grandma. I promise."
"You don't need to worry or be sad. My age won't last much longer, so if my life can be used to save your friends, I will be pleased." I could only cry hearing her words. I never thought for the sake of being able to save my friends. The fee is this big. I have to let Grandma Calista sacrifice her life.
Our footsteps are getting steady entering the Mansion. I was even more amazed when I was inside the Mansion. Items that initially looked so luxurious and beautiful in my eyes now look like dirty and damaged junk. Dust was scattered everywhere, not forgetting the cobwebs that filled this Mansion. I and my friends have been deceived all this time.
Grandma Calista and I kept walking towards the 2nd floor, more precisely towards Leyna's room, where I believed Lucas's ghost was.
Arriving in front of Leyna's room, I saw what I expected. Leyna's body, still possessed by Lucas's ghost, was sitting casually on top of someone's body. When I noticed who the person was lying face down on the floor, I was amazed when I realized it was Sean. Leyna was sitting cross-legged on Sean's back. I looked around my eyes, and again, I was stunned when I saw Carl's body slumped in a standing position, leaning against the wall. A knife stabbed his palm and penetrated the wall. If you saw his eyes were closed, he must be unconscious now.
"Is he here?" Calista's grandmother made a sound that woke me from shock.
"Yes, he is here. Staring at us." Leyna's eyes were glaring at us, not forgetting that she had a sinister grin. Leyna's face looked scarier than before.
"Calista, you finally came. I've been waiting for you a long time." It was Leyna who spoke but with a man's voice. Of course, it's Lucas's ghost who's talking right now.
"As you wish I have come here, I will not run away anymore. I will lay down my life for you in exchange for letting those children go."
"Hahaha!!" Lucas's ghost laughed out loud at Grandma Calista's words. The sound of laughter was so loud that it echoed in the room.
"From the start, you were my prey, Calista. You will feel my revenge." Not long after Lucas said that, Leyna's mouth opened wide, and black smoke gradually emerged. Leyna's body fell when the black smoke had entirely left Leyna's body. Now, the smoke is moving into Grandma Calista's body. Her body shook violently, and a second later, Lucas's ghost entirely controlled Grandma Calista's consciousness.
Calista's grandmother, whom Lucas's ghost had possessed, walked out of the room. At first, I wanted to follow her to find out what the spirit would do. But I discouraged my intention. I remembered my promise, and right now, the most important thing is to take my friends away.
I checked one by one the condition of my friends. Starting with Leyna passing out, I guess that's normal because her body just got possessed by Lucas's ghost. Even though I tried to shake her body to wake her up, her body didn't budge. I turned to check Sean's body. He was lying face down on the floor with his eyes closed. I felt an incomparable relief when I realized he was still breathing. I tried to resuscitate him, but like Leyna, Sean's body didn't budge. Lastly, I checked on Carl. I pulled out the knife stuck in his hand, instantly, his body fell, and luckily I managed to catch him. I felt so relieved when he opened his eyes when I shook his body.
"Leslie," he called softly with a smirk on his face. I remember Lucas's ghost throwing him into the wall. Indeed, he felt pain all over his body at this time because I was feeling the same pain as him, but I ignored it.
"Carl, we have to get out of this Mansion. You take Sean with you. I'll bring Leyna and Muggie." Carl glanced at Sean and Leyna, who were lying on the floor. I know his body is being attacked by excruciating pain, but I have no choice but to ask his help to get Sean out of there. I can't possibly carry them all at once.
"Okay, please help me put Sean's body on my back." I nodded and, without wasting any time, helped Carl lift Sean's body until his body slumped limply on Carl's back.
"Carl, get out of the Mansion as fast as you can through the main door. Whatever you see inside this Mansion, ignore it. You just need to get Sean out. Outside the Mansion, many citizens are already waiting."
"Why don't they come in and help us?" Carl asked, confused.
"None of them dare enter the Mansion. After all, they would only be in danger if they also entered this Mansion. Hurry up Carl, we don't have much time." With great difficulty, Carl got up. Even with unsteady steps, he stepped steadily out of this room.
As for me, I rushed to Muggie's room. I'm sure she was there. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Muggie's figure curled up on her bed. But her condition was extraordinary. Her gaze looked blank, and her face showed a feeling of extreme fear. She even screamed when I held her.
"Muggie! Muggie, wake up! It's me, Leslie!!" I snapped at her, but it was useless for her to keep screaming hysterically like a madman.
I slapped her, intending to bring her back to consciousness, and again, I breathed a sigh of relief when, this time, my efforts succeeded. Muggie finally quieted down and looked sadly at me with her eyes filled with tears.
"Muggie, we have to get out of here right now."
"I'm scared, Leslie. I don't want to die," she said, trembling.
"No one will die, we will all survive. Come on follow me!!" I helped her walk out of her room to Leyna's room.
Arriving at Leyna's room, I rushed to lift Leyna's body, but I couldn't do it alone.
"Muggie, help me support Leyna," I begged, but Muggie stood still and annoyed me.
"MUGGIE!!" I shouted; she blinked and finally helped me support Leyna.
The sound came from the direction of the stairs, and I widened my eyes when I saw the source of the sound. Grandma Calista was banging her head on the end of the fence. Her head was already covered in blood. Of course, Lucas's ghost deliberately did that to torment Grandma Calista. I can't see her, but I can do nothing to save her. Finally, Muggie and I continued our steps that had been stopped.
When we arrived outside the Mansion, the waiting residents rushed over to us. They helped us hold Leyna, who was still unconscious. Carl was seen among them. At the same time, Sean was beside him, still cold.
"NO, MISS CALISTA, DON'T DO THAT!!" Shouted one of the residents who made my gaze diverted. Now I looked into the Mansion. There, a terrible scene was happening right before my eyes. Grandma Calista, with her head covered in blood, was standing on the 2nd floor. She climbed onto the wooden support on the 2nd floor as if she was going to jump.
"NO!!" We shouted at the same time when we witnessed Grandma Calista jump.
The loud sound of her body hitting the floor, followed by blood spurting from all over her body, made me hold my breath at the sight. Grandma Calista's body slumped to the floor, covered in blood. Just at a glance, I know that Grandma Calista is gone.
Hahaha
Laughter could be heard blaring inside the Mansion. I can see black smoke, which is none other than Lucas's ghost, hovering above Grandma Calista's body. Meanwhile, where Grandma Calista had jumped earlier, a woman looked sadly at Grandma Calista's body. The woman's figure is the ghost of the woman who saved me then. She was the one who showed me the way out when I was about to give up. She was the one who told me that I could get out of this Mansion through the open window of my room. If I look at her beautiful face, her face is very similar to Grandma Calista's. Could the female ghost be the figure of Grandma Calista's mother? If I remember the story of Grandma Calista, who said how kind her mother was, I think the female ghost is indeed her mother.
Now, the sound of a door squeaking shut by itself slowly.
He was replaced by that sound when the main door of the Mansion finally closed completely. Calista's grandmother had become part of the Mansion. No, more precisely, she had returned to her home. Grandma Calista has joined the other ghosts involved in the tragedy 53 years ago at the Mansion. With this, the ghost terror of Lucas has ended. Even though his spirit still haunts the Mansion and the souls of the people he killed.
I resolved in my heart that I would not let anyone else experience the terrible events we experienced. I will make sure that no one will enter the Mansion, let the Mansion be closed forever with all the pain and suffering inside. I felt my body collapse again, and I lost consciousness.
