Sean Part 6
"If you want to save that young man, persuade that girl named Muggie to cancel the contract she has made. I've taught her how," Angie's father explained again, but I didn't pay much attention to him. I still can't believe this fact.
"Leslie, you know that girl named Muggie? C-could she be one of your friends who was treated at the hospital too? Is she Sean's cousin?" I answered Angie's question with a nod of the head.
"You know where the house is? We must meet her." Once again, I nod my head. I don't know. I feel my tongue at a loss to say something.
The three of us rushed to Muggie's house, but before that, I texted Sunny. I asked her if Muggie was in the hospital with her or had already gone home. I breathed a sigh of relief when Sunny replied to my message and said Muggie had returned to her house.
Along the way, I could not stop thinking about the painful reality I had just discovered. Muggie is always kind and considerate of me. Muggie, my best friend, whom I consider my sister, is behind Sean's and my suffering. Besides, I have no idea why Muggie wanted Sean dead. What had Sean done to her to make her hate him so much? Even though, from what I saw, Sean was always kind to her, he was even willing to sacrifice his body to save Muggie from Lucas' ghost attack in the Mansion. It's ridiculous that Muggie would do this to Sean, but I'll find out why soon.
When we arrived at Muggie's house, I widened my eyes when I found Carl and Leyna sitting on Muggie's porch. I approached them, and I looked suspiciously at them. They looked surprised when they saw us coming.
"What are you doing here?" I asked them.
"Why did you come here yourself?" Leyna asked me back.
"Just answer my question, Muggie is at her house, right?
"She was in her room but she refused to meet anyone. We came here too because we wanted to see her." Carl answered it. The answer made a question pop up in my mind.
"What did you meet her for?" I asked again, full of suspicion. I don't know how it's hard to trust anyone, including people I already know well.
"There's something we want to talk to her about," Carl replied again.
"What's that?" But this time, I have yet to receive an answer from Carl or Leyna. They stared silently at each other, making me suspect them even more.
"Fine, if you don't want to tell me. The important thing is, can you take me to Muggie's room?" I said, to which they responded with a nod. I didn't know where Muggie's room was because this was the first time I'd been to her house. I know this Muggie's house, too, because Sean told me once that Muggie's house is next to his.
Arriving at Muggie's room, I found her curled up in bed. She covered her body with a blanket and a look of fear on her face.
"What are you doing here? I told you I don't want to meet anyone!!" she snapped at us.
"I wanted to ask you something, Muggie," I said, looking straight at her.
"Quickly you say after that leave me alone!!" she snapped again. I've never seen a Muggie like this. The Muggie I know is always friendly and cheerful. Could it be that she's showing her true self to me now? She's been hiding from me all this time.
"Why do you have the heart to send magic to Sean? Why do you want to kill Sean?" Muggie was wide-eyed at my question. From her reaction, it was confirmed that she was the one who had committed all these crimes.
"What do you mean? Don't talk carelessly," she replied, looking down. She didn't dare to look at me, making me even more sure that she indeed did it.
"Why do you have the heart to want to kill your cousin? What did he do to make you want him dead?"
"Don't slander me!!" Muggie shouted, which silenced me instantly.
"Come on, Muggie. You better admit everything and stop your crazy plans." I directed that gaze at someone who had just spoken. That person is Carl, a harsh reality I just found out again. Muggie wasn't the only one planning this crime.
"Carl, what do you mean? Do you know of the crimes Muggie committed?" I asked him in surprise.
"That is, one might say I am also involved." Now, I feel that there is no one around me that I can trust anymore. The people I knew so well were the ones who wanted to hurt us.
"Why did you do that, Carl? Why do you want Sean dead, too? What has he done to you?!" I asked, full of emotion this time.
"I'll tell you everything, Leslie. I and Sean, we're friends. Even though our relationship is like brothers, he destroyed our friendship. He ruined my career in basketball just because he was jealous of me. When we were practicing, he accidentally hurt me, so I was injured, and the doctor sentenced me not to be able to play basketball anymore. Even though becoming a professional basketball player was my biggest dream but Sean destroyed it in an instant. Not only that, he even stole the woman I love. I used to love Leyna, Sean knows because I told him. I even often ask his advice to approach Leyna. But instead, he took Leyna from me, I don't know what he did to keep Leyna chasing him. He also usurped the captain's position on our school's basketball team, which should have been mine. He was jealous because I was more powerful than him. Since then I hate Sean." Carl was speechless. I didn't know that they had this kind of problem in the past. Now I understand what Sean meant when I first came to his room at the dorm. At that time, Carl ignored Sean's greeting, and Sean said it was something Carl usually did to him because maybe Carl hated him. At that time, I was curious to ask what he meant, but the problem with Eric's ghost made me forget about that incident.
I know what kind of person Sean is. I'm sure he's not what Carl says he is. There's no way he'd intentionally hurt Carl just because he felt Carl was better than him at playing basketball. There's no way Sean could take Leyna from Carl, either. Sean, who always rejects Leyna's declarations of love, clearly proves that Carl's thoughts about Sean are wrong. If Sean wanted to take Leyna, he would have a relationship with her. But the truth is Sean didn't do that.
"That's why when Muggie told me about her revenge plan, I agreed to help her. Muggie made me mix a potion in Sean's drink, and I always did. At that time, Muggie just said she wanted to make Sean feel the pain I had been feeling without saying her real goal was to kill Sean. If I had known Muggie wanted to kill Sean, I would never have helped her. I hate Sean, but I'm not that cruel to want to kill him." Carl again paused his words. I can only wait until he returns to continue his story.
"Besides that, since getting to know you, Leslie, I can't bear to see your suffering because of Sean's attitude. I know Sean has turned cold towards you because of the magic that Muggie sent him. You are very kind, and I don't know when did I start to like you. I don't want to see you cry because of Sean again. That's why Leyna and I came here to ask Muggie to stop her vendetta. I'm sorry I helped her." Carl's words made me realize another reality. Leyna also found out about Muggie's plan.
