Evan Part 9
The three of us, Sean and a representative from a jewellery store named Nisa, went to the address Evan gave to the store before he died. Of course, we went in Sean's car.
Our trip lasted only a short time because the address turned out to be not too far from the location of the jewellery store. It only took about 45 minutes. We arrived at that address—a simple house, now right in front of us. Without hesitation, we knocked on the house door, and soon, a woman who was unmistakably Mira opened the door. I breathed a sigh of relief because it looked like my promise to Evan would soon be fulfilled.
Mira looked surprised to see us coming but still invited us into her house.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" She asked that after we sat down in the house's living room. In a situation like this, of course, I have to explain it.
"Your name is Mira, right?" I asked, to which she responded with a nod.
"Evan… you know him?" I asked again.
"Yes, I know him. What's wrong, you ask? What is your relationship with him?" she asked me with a look that was difficult to decipher.
"Earlier, I'm sorry to say this. But did you know about the news of his death?" Instantly, a look of shock and disbelief appeared on her face. Judging by her expression, I suspect she doesn't know about Evan's death yet.
"What are you saying? Evan died? That's not possible."
"Yesterday he had an accident and he died."
"No way, that must be a lie. Yesterday, he did go, but he promised to come back. Who are you? Don't try to trick me," she said, flushed with emotion.
"My name is Leslie. I'm not lying. I'm telling the truth. And we came here to hand you something and deliver Evan's message." At that moment, tears rolled down Mira's eyes, making me feel sorry for her. Of course, this news must be weighty for her.
"No way, he has promised not to leave me, and we will live together." Her crying was getting hysterical, and I approached her. I hugged her, trying to calm her down.
"Mira, you have to be patient. You have to let him go." She suddenly pushed my hand away and glared at me angrily.
"You must be lying, right? There's no way Evan is dead!!"
"I'm not lying. I'm telling the truth. Nisa, can you please hand it over to her." Nisa, a representative from a jewellery store, complied with what I said. She handed a box to Mira, which she received with a look of confusion.
"What's this?" she asked Nisa.
"That's Mr. Evan's order because Mr. Evan has died, so we leave it to you," she answered honestly. Mira finally opened the box, and her eyes widened when she saw two gorgeous rings. Two rings with a similar design that one would think at first glance they were couple rings. Silver ring with a small gem in the centre and the initials EM engraved inside both rings.
"You remember before Evan said he would surprise you? This ring is a surprise. He bought it for you two on purpose." I explained. Now, her tears were flowing profusely. It seemed she believed what I said.
"So he left me?"
"You must accept it with courage." I stroked her back gently. I feel able to feel the sadness that is befalling her at this time. Losing someone so loved, I can feel the heartache she is feeling.
"What should I do now? He left me alone. I'd rather die with him. I can't live alone without him." Her words took me by surprise. She is naturally sad and hurt because Evan abandoned her, but I think wanting to die with Evan is too much.
"You can't talk like that. You can survive even without him. You must continue your life for the sake of the people who love you, especially your family." She smiled, which looked sad in my eyes. A smile was full of sadness and suffering in it.
"I have no one else in this world. I only have Evan and now he's gone so there's no reason for me to stay alive."
"Your family ... do you have no family anymore?" I asked as gently as possible. I was afraid my question would offend her.
"I left my family to be with Evan. They can't possibly accept me again." I didn't understand the answer. I just stared at her in silence. Out of the corner of my eye, I don't know. I feel someone behind me and, Mira. Looking behind me, I saw Evan's ghost hovering and looking sadly at his girlfriend. He won't calm down and go to his realm by handing this ring to Mira. Mira's sadness and regret for leaving Mira, I'm sure, is a hindrance for Evan's ghost to rest peacefully in his realm.
"What happened, Mira? You can tell me. Maybe I can help you."
Mira was silent, but I was relieved when she started to tell me her story. She and Evan had been in a relationship for five years. They loved each other and decided to get married. But Mira's family is against their relationship. Mira even wants to arrange a marriage with a man of her family's choice. Feeling unable to accept her family's decision, Mira finally decides to run away with Evan. The house she lives in turns out to be rented by Evan and Mira. To live together, Mira and Evan decided to leave their families. They will still get married even without the blessing of the family. But now Evan is gone, leaving Mira forever. After hearing the story, I was touched that tears came to my eyes. Nisa even had tears in her eyes listening to Mira tell her heartbreaking love story. Maybe it's just Sean, who still has a straight face and has only been silent since entering this house.
