Evan Part 1
Two weeks have passed since the sad incident at Sean's house. Since then, I rarely spend time with Sean. I often met him by accident on campus, but we just greeted each other, and he never even asked me to accompany him to work on assignments in the library. He is not even inviting me to eat together. His only excuse was that he had a lot of assignments and was busy studying to prepare for the semester exams. I don't know if I felt ignored by Sean; maybe it's just my feelings, and that's why I'm trying to understand the situation. But I miss him.
When I accidentally saw him. He always seemed to be brooding and daydreaming to himself. He became increasingly cold and withdrawn. Even he, who used to open up to me now, was close to me. I understand the truth about his family must hurt him deeply. Especially after discovering his mother and stepfather had betrayed his father before he died. What's more, his mother was made the second wife by his stepfather. I know the reality he just found out is too cruel.
I want to be by his side, accompanying and comforting him. But even spending time together feels very difficult. Last Sunday, he still paid a little attention to me by calling me and asking if I would come home to him or not. Yes, it's always like that. If I'm going home, Sean will take me. But this Sunday, he didn't even ask.
I rarely spend time alone with him, but I'm still a little relieved because he still remembers that he has a girlfriend. Every night, he still diligently calls me even though we only talk briefly, but that is enough to cure my longing for him. However, unlike last night, he didn't call me at all. I tried to call him first, but his cell phone was off. If you want to know how I feel right now, the answer is I'm really worried about it. I can't wait for him to contact me after last night. I couldn't sleep thinking about it. I decided to meet him at the men's dormitory.
It must be quiet on Sundays, like in the women's dormitory, because everyone prefers to go home. I didn't care what people said about me daring to enter the men's dorm anymore. I had decided to meet Sean no matter what. And here I am now, I'm standing alone at the door of the men's dormitory. Maybe I had already decided to meet Sean, but my heart still hesitated to step inside.
My gaze on the dormitory door was diverted when I saw a man come out. That man is already familiar to me. I met him once in Sean's room when we were going to investigate Eric's ghost. I'm sure it can be correct. At that time, he was very arrogant in my eyes, but at a time like this, there wasn't anything wrong with trying to greet him and asking him about Sean.
The man walked away from the door, and I immediately approached.
"Excuse me. I'm sorry if I'm not mistaken, you're Sean's roommate, right?" I asked him. He stared silently at me. A look that needs to be clarified.
"That's it," he answered coldly and flatly.
"Introduce. My name is Leslie," I said again while holding my hand to him. I thought he would ignore me, but my guess was wrong. He accepted my hand.
"Carl," he answered.
"S-sorry Carl, I have a question. Is Sean in his room?"
"You're Sean's girlfriend, right?" he asked back, which I answered with a nod.
"I saw him in the room. It seems he is still sleeping." Suddenly, I saw a beautiful circular watch on my left arm. It was already 09.23, and Sean was still sleeping. I was quite surprised to hear that. As far as I know, Sean is not the lazy guy who will wake up late, even on a holiday.
"You want to meet him? Just go inside," he said again, which broke my trance.
"N-no. I don't feel comfortable going to the men's dormitory," I answered awkwardly, even though it was clear that I had decided to go in no matter what people said about me.
"Come with me. I will accompany you." He walked towards the door when I had not digested what he meant. Was he going to take me to see Sean? I expected him to be a little better. My judgment about him was wrong all along.
"I do not want to burden you."
"It's okay, don't hesitate." He flashed a smile at me—a gentle and charming smile. I finally accepted the offer. I walked beside him into the men's dormitory. On the way to Sean's room, I caught a glimpse of his face and noticed he had a pretty handsome face. He was tall like Sean, with fair skin and short, neat black hair. He is very handsome even though Sean is more handsome, in my opinion.
Finally, we arrived at Sean's room. As Carl said earlier, as I entered the room, Sean was indeed sleeping. Carl walked up to Sean while I preferred to stand by the door. I was reluctant to go any deeper, even though I was in the men's room.
"Oi, Sean. Wake up," Carl said while patting Sean's body. There was Sean's low moaning characteristic of someone who had just woken up.
"What's wrong, Carl?"
"See, people are looking for you." After hearing Carl's answer, Sean glanced at me. He got up and walked towards me.
"Leslie, what's wrong?" he asked lazily. He didn't even look surprised after seeing my arrival.
"S-sorry to disturb your sleep. I-I was just worried about you. Your cell phone has been inactive since last night. You're fine, right?"
"Oh, sorry. I didn't hold my cell phone since last night, maybe the battery is dead."
"Have you had breakfast?" I asked a stupid question. He just woke up, and he still needs to have breakfast. I want to gag my mouth for asking that stupid question.
"Not yet, how about you?"
"Me neither. How about we have breakfast together?" I asked enthusiastically.
"That's fine, but is it okay if you wait a bit? I want to take a bath first."
"I'll be waiting for you outside the dormitory."
"Okay."
After hearing his approval, I was very happy because I could finally spend time with Sean again.
"Carl, thank you," I said to Carl, to whom he responded with one hand and waved at me. I rushed to leave the room.
Not long after I waited, Sean finally came out. We went to the canteen. The cafeteria on our campus is always open, even on Sundays, because not all students will return to their homes every Sunday.
After ordering food, we sat down at one of the empty tables. Here, some students are seen eating. Sean said a word to me when our food came once. He's getting quieter now. It pisses me off seeing him.
"Sean, are you okay?" I asked during my sharp gaze toward him.
"Yes, I am doing okay. So what?"
"You've been quiet ever since. You've been moody lately. What's wrong, Sean? Are you having a problem? Tell me."
"No, I'm just tired lately. There are often quizzes in my class, so I must study hard," Sean answered. I wonder if he answered honestly. Suddenly, he held his head and winced in pain, just like we were at his house.
"What are you doing, Sean? Are you sick?"
"No. Just a little dizzy."
"How about we go to the campus clinic? You should check yourself."
"No need."
"B-but..."
"I SAID NO NEED!!!" I was wide-eyed when he snapped at me. He had never snapped at me before. Why is Sean so grumpy like this?
"S-sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you. Just please don't be fussy." Those words hurt my heart. He said I was fussy when I was just worried about him.
"Quickly finish your food," he said again in a very cold tone of voice. What's wrong, Sean? He's not the Sean I know.
"W-why are you being so grumpy, Sean? Are you mad because I disturbed your sleep earlier? I'm sorry, I was just worried about you. I also miss you so much." I felt my eyes fill with tears. I could no longer hold back my sadness because Sean treated me so coldly like this.
"S-sorry. I'm not mad at you, Leslie." My tears finally fell on my face.
"Hey, don't cry."
"You snapped at me, you are also very cold to me, it seems you are not happy with me."
"N-no, I'm sorry. Please do not cry." Sean handed me a tissue. I was also surprised by this action. Sean, who I used to know, always wiped my tears with his hands, but now he only hands me a piece of tissue. I took the tissue and wiped my tears with my own hands.
"Hmm, Leslie, how about we go on a date?" He says suddenly. Maybe he is trying to cheer me up.
"Didn't you say there are lots of quizzes in your class so you have to study hard?" I replied curtly.
"Incidentally tomorrow there is no quiz schedule, other than that just going away for a while I think it's not a problem. After all, it's been a while since we've dated?" He gave me a smile that I missed, and I finally nodded to accept his invitation.
After finishing and paying for our food, Sean and I went on a date. Of course, we went by motorbike. Throughout the trip, we all had yet to start a conversation. I am still determining where he will take me.
"Sean, where are we going?" In the end, I gave up and started the conversation.
"S E C R E T," he answered, making me pout my lips even though he couldn't see it. The answer just pissed me off.
