Marie Part 1
After the accident, Sean did not attend college for almost two weeks. I repeatedly called him, but he never picked up. I don't know how many messages I sent him, but I have yet to hear back. I can only ask Sunny, who happens to have her cell phone number. I was grateful for asking for her number when Sean was hospitalized after Harry's ghost incident so I could find out about Sean from Sunny.
According to Sunny's story, as long as Sean doesn't go to college, he is always at his house. He was spending more time sleeping or alone in his room. Sean looked unwell and always complained of headaches and headaches. Hearing that, of course, made me very worried. I suggested Sunny take Sean to the hospital, but Sean always refused. That's what Sunny told me.
I had repeatedly thought about coming to his house and seeing his situation in person but remembering his mother, who didn't like me, made me finally discourage that intention. I didn't want a fight between me and his mom to make Sean even more unwell, so I decided to wait. Wait until Sean returns to college.
My wish came true when I finally saw Sean back in college. On his first day at college, I immediately met him as soon as my lecture was over. At that time, I saw him playing basketball with his friends. Seeing the joy on his face and his prowess at the game, my worries vanished. He looks fine. He doesn't look sick at all.
After the basketball match was over, as usual, he was always surrounded by his female fans, and even though I was annoyed, I decided to ignore it. When he finally walked alone, I rushed to him. But what happened after that hurt me. I walked up to him, smiling even though we were still far away. I was wide-eyed when he passed me when we were close and almost passed each other. He didn't greet me as if I was invisible in his eyes. I was stunned right then and there. I never thought he would ignore me so cruelly.
"Sean," I called. He stopped walking and turned to look at me. One of his eyebrows rose, and he looked at me with a look that was difficult to decipher.
"Why?" he asked coldly.
"Why are you ignoring me? I'm sure you saw me just now right?"
"I'm tired. I want to go back to the dorm immediately," he answered lightly without the slightest hint of guilt.
"Is this the attitude you show after not seeing your girlfriend for a long time? Do you know I was really worried about you all this time?"
"You see I'm fine right? So no need to worry about me anymore. Go back to your dorm." His words once again managed to make me wide-eyed.
"Don't you miss me? Even though I always miss you. How come you never contacted me all this time? I keep calling and texting you but you ignore them all."
"I wasn't well yesterday."
"But at least you can just once pick up my phone and tell me how you're doing. Sean, what do you think I am? Do you think I'm still your girlfriend?" I do my best to hold back my emotions even though I'm annoyed with him. I've always been patient with him, but now I'm almost at the limit of my patience.
"Don't bother me. Talking to you makes my head even dizzier." Maybe he didn't say it in a snapping tone, but his words were enough to give me a reason to shed tears. My heart hurts so much for all the treatment he gave me. Actually, what did I do wrong? Do I deserve to be mistreated this? I want to ask all of this to him, but I undo it when I see him stepping away from me again.
Since that incident, my relationship with Sean has gotten worse. We rarely greet each other even though we accidentally pass each other. Many of my friends who knew about my relationship with Sean were surprised to see the change in our attitudes. They thought that we had broken up. I don't know what to answer because we have no breakup. Thinking about my relationship with Sean, which was getting more complicated and painful, made me lose my concentration on studying. Like right now, I'm studying in my room to prepare for semester exams. During this one week, we will face semester exams starting tomorrow. Even though I have been studying since this morning, none of the material has entered my brain.
The sound of the door opening made me turn towards the door and interrupt all my thoughts.
"Hi, Leslie," said Muggie pleasantly.
"You don't study?" I asked her. She is now sitting next to me.
"I'm just about to learn too. Leslie, let's study at the library, shall we?" she asked. I need to be more active to study in the library. There must be many people. I'm more comfortable studying alone in my room.
"I'll just stay here."
"Come on Leslie, we can read the other books over there. Accompany me. Yes, yes, yes," she said with a pitiful face, making me unable to refuse. Finally, I agreed to her invitation.
Arriving at the library, it was very crowded. Lots of people reading books made me even more reluctant to go inside.
"Hi, it's Leyna, right? Who is she sitting with?" I directed my gaze in the direction Muggie was staring at. As she said, I could see Leyna's figure as well. Leyna is my and Muggie's roommate. Three people occupy each room in the campus dormitory. I, Muggie, and Leyna were put in one room.
But in contrast to my close relationship with Muggie, my relationship with Leyna wasn't close and could even be entirely wrong. Like me and Muggie, Leyna majored in economics. I don't know why she constantly mistreats me in class or the dormitory. But she is the perfect girl. She is beautiful and graceful. Many men are after her. Unlike me, who always looks natural because I wouldn't say I like make-up, Leyna is a girl who always looks extraordinary. She is always dressed up, wearing make-up that adds to her beauty. Apart from that, she was also brilliant in terms of the academy. She always gets perfect scores in almost all the courses she takes. Not only that, but she is also a rich man's daughter. The point is she is perfect in my eyes, even in the eyes of everyone. But then again, for some reason, she's always against me.
"We're joining her, Leslie!" asked Muggie, which I could only nod in response. I didn't want to get anywhere near her, but I didn't feel comfortable turning down Muggie's advances either. In contrast to her attitude towards me, Leyna was lovely to Muggie. They were friends. I could feel Muggie's good intentions to make me and Leyna friends, but her efforts always ended in vain.
"Hey, Leyna. Can we join in?" Said Muggie cheerfully.
"Of course, you can, but even then, if Sean doesn't mind," said Leyna, suddenly making me stare at the person sitting across from Leyna. From the start, we did see Leyna sitting with someone, but because the person's position was facing us, we didn't realize at all that the person was Sean.
I wondered and questioned Sean: Why can he study with Leyna in this library? He glanced at me, too, but quickly averted his gaze.
"Of course. Why not?" he replied sarcastically.
"Hah, it's you, Sean. I wonder who it was. Alright, I'm sitting next to Leyna. Leslie, you sit next to Sean, okay?" Without waiting for my answer, Muggie immediately sat beside Leyna, so I sat beside Sean. I want to get out of this place right now.
"Not usually our princess is studying in the library. Usually, you feel at home alone in your room," Leyna said sarcastically.
"So what? Am I not allowed to study here?"
"I didn't say that, did I? You always think negatively about me," Leyna replied, which made me even more annoyed with her.
"Come on, you two, stop fighting. Remember, we're in the library." Of course, it was Muggie who said that, and Sean just kept his focus on the book he was reading as if he didn't care about us. I finally gave in and decided to go back to studying.
"Sean, can you help me translate this?" Leyna said in a spoiled voice that made me feel like grabbing her. However, Sean's attitude towards her made my eyes widen perfectly. He smiled. Sean smiled gently at Leyna, so much different from how he had been showing me lately.
"Aren't you smart, Leyna? Can't you just translate this?" Sean said with a smile.
"You know yourself, since junior high school, I wasn't very good at English," said Leyna, still with her voice as gentle as possible.
"Hm, alright. Give it to me." Sean helped Leyna translate the parts Leyna didn't understand, making the heat feel up to my top. Could it be I'm jealous? I'm only naturally jealous when I see my boyfriend being so lovely to other women. There's no need to explain because remembering it irritates me.
"Finished. Here's your book," Sean said as he returned it to its owner.
"Thanks, Sean. You know studying with you makes me even more excited. How about during this semester's exam we study together every day?"
"Sure," Sean replied without hesitation. I really can't stand to see this scene anymore. Looks like Sean doesn't think of me as his girlfriend anymore. I got up from my chair. I intend to leave here and return to my room.
"Why Leslie? Where are you going?" asked Muggie with a surprised look on her face.
"I'm going back to my room. I'm more comfortable studying there. Sorry, Muggie."
"Huh? Why? Even though it is more comfortable studying with other friends."
"Come on, Muggie. Let our princess return to her habitat. She doesn't fit in with us." My anger is unstoppable. I don't care anymore, even though I'm in the library.
"Stop making fun of me, Leyna!! I feel bothered when you bother me—saying words that provoke my emotions. What do you want? What did I do wrong to you?!" My snaps at her succeeded in making me the centre of attention in this library.
"Leslie, noise. You know we're in the library, right? If you want to go back to your room, go. Don't make a fuss here." Who said this? Sean, yes, he was the one who said it. He didn't defend me, but instead, he blamed me. He didn't even care, even though I suddenly decided to return to my room. Doesn't he realize that my heart is hurting right now?
"Okay, I'm going. Sorry for bothering you, excuse me!!" I said, and I was away from that annoying place as fast as possible.
In my room, of course, I was crying alone. I didn't think Sean could do such a cruel thing to me.
