Lucas Part 12
There was the sound of ceramic jars shattering against someone's body. My eyes widened as I saw the horrific sight in front of me. The jars hit Sean's body, blocking Muggie's body. I did know Sean's running was fast, but I didn't think he would use his body as a shield to protect Muggie.
Sean collapsed with blood dripping from the wounds on his body. While Muggie stared at him silently, she looked scared, tears streaming down. Carl and I approached Sean, who was wincing in pain.
Carl helped Sean lead him into the living room while I supported Muggie, who was still frozen.
"Muggie, are you all right?" Muggie didn't respond to me. She just kept silent and looked blank.
"Muggie, please don't daydream. Don't let the ghost get to you either. You have to be strong and believe we can get through this. We will defeat the ghost."
"I don't want to die," she finally spoke up.
"None of us will die. We can defeat that ghost." I tried to calm my friends even though I was terrified right now.
"Carl, please treat Sean's wound," I asked Carl, who was sitting beside Sean.
"No need, I'm fine."
"But Sean..." I said worriedly to see him ignoring the wounds on his body.
"Instead of wasting time treating my insignificant wound, it's better to quickly think of a way to help Leyna and get out of this Mansion," he said firmly, refusing.
"You brought your cell phone, right? We're trying to get help." Carl suggested while taking out his cell phone. Sean did the same thing with Carl. Meanwhile, Muggie still struggled with her crying and didn't respond to Carl's words. I couldn't do anything because I left my cell phone in my room.
"Shit, no network. How are you, Sean?" Sean answered with a shake of his head, indicating the same thing happened to his cell phone.
"I wish there was a telephone in this Mansion. We can contact anyone for help." What Carl said was true, but unfortunately, the Mansion that Leyna's father had just bought didn't have a telephone installed yet.
"Why don't we ask the neighbours around this Mansion for help?" Carl's suggestion again is a brilliant idea, but there's no way we can do it, considering what just happened to Muggie. That ghost definitely won't let us leave this Mansion.
"We cannot leave this Mansion. You saw the ghost attack Muggie when she was about to leave. We can't leave Leyna alone, either. As long as we're inside this Mansion, I'm sure that ghost won't hurt Leyna. The situation now is that the ghost is taking Leyna hostage, so we can't do anything against her," I explained. The ghost can't be appeased, I know that. In that very sinister air of his existence, he only saw human suffering as his pleasure. An evil ghost that we should never have met. So this is the bad feeling I had before entering this Mansion. This incident would never have happened if I had followed my heart and prevented my friends from entering this Mansion. It's true. Regret always comes in the end.
"So, what should we do now? Until when are we just waiting like this?" What Sean said was true. We couldn't just sit idly by and do nothing when Leyna's life was at stake here.
I tried to calm my confused mind. I close my eyes, and I remember my past experiences. I had countless experiences when I faced the ghosts that roamed with Angie back then. Ghosts wouldn't they be wandering around in a place closely related to them when they were alive? Angie once said this to me. I remember it very well.
I looked around this Mansion. There were so many paintings hanging on the walls. This is not a landscape painting but a painting of several figures whose clothing and accessories indicate that they are not ordinary. Their appearance was like the nobles of the olden days or at least those who lived many years ago. Could they be the owners of this Mansion? Who founded this Mansion first? Maybe one of the people in the painting is the identity of the ghost? It's a shame the spirit never showed its face to me, so I don't know what it looks like. The ghost also seemed to have no intention of displaying me its memories. The spirit didn't even ask for my help to calm him down so he could go to his world. The ghost wants only one thing: to torture humans like us who have made a big mistake by entering the place where it lives.
"Leslie, what are you thinking about?" Asked Sean, who suddenly woke me up from my reverie.
"That ghost must be closely related to this Mansion. Maybe he used to own this Mansion, but unfortunately, I don't know who the ghost is. His name… his face… he didn't show me his features clearly. If I knew who he was, maybe I would know how to deal with him," I said as I let out a rough breath.
"If the ghost won't reveal its identity to you, then we should be the ones looking for it. You said the ghost must be closely related to this Mansion. We have to find all the information in this Mansion. Any information indicating the original owner of this Mansion. We can split up looking for him," said Sean, with which Carl and I agreed. As Sean said, this is all we can do instead of just waiting around doing nothing.
"I want to rest in my room. Sorry, I'm still scared," said Muggie, to which I nodded in response. I know it's useless asking Muggie to come to look for it. Muggie won't be able to help us investigate the ghost with her mixed feelings like that.
I carried Muggie, helping her walk to her room. Muggie was scared right now. I could feel her body shaking. I feel sorry to see her condition like this, even though the Muggie I know is someone very kind and cheerful.
I left Muggie after she lay quietly in her room. Then, I started my search. I'm sure Sean and Carl have started theirs, too.
One by one, I visited the rooms on the 2nd floor and checked everything in these rooms, hoping that one of them could let me know the ghost's identity.
