Shane Part 5
"Leslie! Leslie! Wake up! I beg you to open your eyes!"
A voice was ringing in my ears. I slowly opened my eyes, and Sean's face was worried. I saw it for the first time.
"Thank God, you finally realized," he said. Without noticing, I threw myself in his arms. I could not hold back my tears, and finally flowed freely. I just saw Sean's sad family memories. Now I know why Sean always looks gloomy and lonely. He has turned into a cold figure since his father died. His father died after feeling immense pain in his heart.
I felt Sean stroking my head gently.
"Why Leslie? What happened? Why are you crying?" asked Sean in a voice so soft. I was silent with sobs that I could not hold at all.
"Why didn't you answer Sean's question? Are you all right, Leslie?" Immediately, I was startled when I heard a woman's voice. I let go of my hug on Sean and looked around me. My eyes widened when I realized I was lying on a bed. The view in this place looks like I'm in Aunt Silva's room. The owner of the voice earlier was none other than Aunt Silva, who was standing not far from the bed.
"Why did you faint? are you sick? Sean, you have to take her home," she said again.
"S-sorry, Auntie."
"Why did you faint in the aunt's room?" she asked again, which made me nervous for a moment. What should I do? Should I tell Aunt Silva the truth? I need some clarification right now.
"Didn't your parents teach you manners? You entered the aunt's room without asking permission first. You know that's impolite?" I was stunned to hear what she said. There was obvious irritation in her voice.
"Don't talk like that, Mother. Leslie must have had her reasons for entering Mother's room." Sean tried to defend me, and it helped me a little.
"Still that's impolite. Did you come into mom's room too? Mother never taught you to be impolite like this."
"Enough, Mom. We apologize for being presumptuous in your room. Come on, Leslie, let's get out of here." Sean tried to hold me on his lap, but I stopped him when I saw the ghost of Uncle Shane standing over me. Even though he didn't say anything, I could tell he was trying to ask for my help. I certainly couldn't ignore it even though my heart feels reluctant to discuss Sean's family problems, especially since I am nobody. I'm not part of this family. Even though my boyfriend's family is, I don't want to interfere in other people's affairs. But on the other hand, I also want to help Uncle Shane to calm down and return to nature. Right now, I'm the only one who can help him.
"Why Leslie? Let's go!"
"Wait Sean, I have something to say to Aunt Silva." Sean stared at me in surprise, as well as Aunt Silva.
"If you want to apologize for going into your aunt's room without permission, forget it. Just don't repeat it, Auntie doesn't like people who can't keep their manners."
"Mom!!" shouted Sean angrily. I held his hand, trying to calm him down.
"Yes, sorry, Auntie. I promise not to repeat it. But there's something else I want to tell you. It's about Uncle Shane," I said, which made Aunt Silva and Sean pause where they were standing.
"My father? What's wrong with my father, Leslie?" Sean looked confused. I just wanted to say this to Aunt Silva, but considering Sean's character, I knew there was no way he would let me just talk to his mother alone.
"I saw Uncle Shane's ghost in this room." Aunt Silva was stunned to hear that. That's a natural thing. I'm sure Sean didn't tell him I had this strange ability.
"S-so the reason you passed out earlier?" asked Sean, who seemed to be starting to understand what had just happened to me.
"Y-yes, Uncle Shane showed me his world of memories," I replied with my gaze still fixed on Aunt Silva.
"My father, his spirit wanders around?" Sean's face looked very sad. I didn't want to see it, but I had no choice but to continue with my words.
"That's it, Sean," I muttered under my breath.
"What are you saying? Don't talk nonsense!!" Aunt Silva snapped at me. A look of anger was visible on her face.
"Leslie is an indigo girl, she can see spirits so what she says is not lying, mother. Let's hear what Leslie has to say. Tell me what my father showed you, why hasn't his spirit returned to his realm?" Sean's eyes were full of hope, asking me to continue my story even though I didn't want to say it.
"Uncle Shane showed me everything. This shows when Aunt and Uncle David dated before Aunt married Uncle Shane. Your marriage, your family's happiness, the close relationship with you Sean, and how proud he is of you. Then the accident took his life. Uncle Shane showed me everything." I said softly. I looked at Aunt Silva. Her eyes widened to show how shocked she was now.
"Then what makes his spirit feel uneasy? Tell us, Leslie!" I was silent; I still hesitated to say it. I don't know what risks I must take later after telling the truth, especially in front of Sean.
"Leslie, why are you silent? I beg you, tell me. What should we do so his spirit can rest and return to his realm?" I turned to the ghost of Uncle Shane. He was still floating in the same place. I have to say everything. There is no other choice but this. I exhaled slowly before finally speaking again.
"Uncle Shane couldn't calm down before seeing Aunt Silva happy. He knew that aunt's marriage to Uncle David was unhappy. Apart from that, he was also sad to see that aunt's relationship with Sean and Sunny was now tenuous. The point is he is sad to see the state of the family he loves now."
"Watch your mouth, don't talk carelessly!!" Once again, Aunt Silva snapped at me, making me even more reluctant to continue what I was saying.
"Shut up, Mother. I told you to let Leslie continue her story!! Come on, Leslie." The atmosphere in the room is tense now, making me uncomfortable. I want to get out of this situation as soon as possible.
"Uncle Shane hopes you will stop torturing yourself by maintaining this wrong marriage. He also wanted Aunt to stop regretting everything and kept calling Uncle Shane's name, asking him to return and forgive Aunt because of Uncle Shane. He never hated Aunt. He always loved Aunt. He has also forgiven Auntie's mistakes," I said long enough, even though I hadn't conveyed Uncle Shane's message.
"SHUT UP!!" Aunt Silva shouted, which made me cringe instantly.
"Why did dad say that? What have you done to my father?" Sean asked Aunt Silva because now he was staring intently at his mother, asking for an explanation.
"There isn't any. You know we got on well, Sean. Don't listen to that girl's bullshit." Once again, I feel disappointed with Aunt Silva's attitude; she still doesn't admit her mistake.
"Compared to mother, I trust Leslie more," Sean answered firmly, touching me to hear it.
"How can you trust that girl you just started dating more than your mother? The mother who gave birth to and raised you."
"Stop lying, Mother. Tell me the truth. What happened to father and mother before father died?"
"That girl has poisoned you. Brainwash you until you dare to go against Mother like this!!" I flinched at her accusation. How could she think like that about me? She didn't admit her mistake and blamed me as if I was the one who sinned there.
