Harry Part 9
I opened my eyes slowly, and a light from the lamp above my head instantly made me wince. I also felt a pain I had never felt in my back. What has happened to me? That's the question that's on my mind.
"Sean, are you awake? I'm grateful."
A voice from the side made me gasp. I didn't realize there was someone here other than me. That voice was already familiar to my ears—the melodious voice of someone I miss. I directed my gaze to the owner of the vote. It looks like she is showing a beautiful smile that always fascinates me.
"Leslie, where is this?" I asked her, and her movement after that surprised me quite a bit. Suddenly, she threw herself in my arms.
"Thank goodness, thank goodness, you've come to your senses, Sean." Her body was shaking against my chest. Without even looking at her, I knew she was crying. I didn't say anything. I just hugged her back by stroking her head gently. Her soothing scent wafted through and filled my senses. She finally pulled away from me and sat down next to me.
"You're being treated at the hospital. Your wound is terrible. I'm so scared, Sean. I thought you wouldn't survive. I am terrified. Really," she said, with tears flowing down her face. Hearing her words, various memories flashed in my mind. Yes, I remember everything, the terrible events I experienced with Leo. Seeing Leslie beside me gave me an indescribable sense of relief like we had managed to free her from Harry's ghost. However, another horrible memory also crossed my mind: Leo. I remember seeing his body covered in blood. Could it be him?
"Leo! Leo… how about him?" I asked, panicked. I panicked even more when I saw Leslie's residence.
"Oi, Leslie, answer!! Leo, he's fine, right?" Finally, Leslie nodded her head, although, for a moment, she remained silent.
"Mr. Leo has passed his critical period. Fortunately, several knives stuck in his body did not hit his vital organs. He is also being treated in the ICU room next to this room." What a relief. I feel I cannot describe it in words. I just expressed my relief with my light exhale.
"I'm sorry, Sean. Because I, you and Mr. Leo went through all this. You even almost lost your life. I'm sorry. From now on... Hiks... from now on... hiks... hiks..." Leslie's cries sounded more and more heartbreaking, making me unable to do anything but stare at her sadly.
"From now on, I will not involve myself with ghosts anymore. I promise... Hiks..." A smile tugged at my lips. I'm glad to hear that, but on the other hand, I feel this doesn't seem right. Leslie shouldn't have done this. After hearing Leo's advice, I was enlightened. As he said, if I wanted to be with Leslie, I would have to accept everything she had, including her monstrous abilities. Yes, that ability is quite terrible. I might not be as brave as her if I was in her position.
I raised my right hand towards her, and with my thumb, I wiped away the tears dripping from her beautiful eyes. Then I tried to smile at her as sincerely as possible from my heart for her.
"Don't say that. You don't need to promise like that. I'm the one who should apologize to you for always forbidding you to involve yourself with ghosts. I know this is not what you want, that ability of yours will always get you involved with ghosts even if you don't want it. Even if you keep avoiding them, the ghosts will always involve themselves with you. It doesn't matter to me, I'll take it. I promise I won't stop you again."
"But… but..." she said, her tears still not stopping.
"Don't make promises you can't keep. Even if you promise you won't have anything to do with them anymore, they will still come to you, right? To ask you for help. If you think about it, you're lucky to be able to help them, so respect it and make the most of your strengths." Finally, Leslie smiled at me. She held my hand, still faithfully wiping away her tears. She ran my fingers across her smooth face, making me feel nervous instantly. I quickly pulled my hand and tried to move my body when suddenly I felt pain in my back that made me wince spontaneously.
"Sean, don't move too much just yet. Your back was hit by a chair and knife stabbed. I'll call the doctor to examine you," she said, getting up from her seat and intending to leave, but I immediately stopped her by holding her hand.
"Don't. Just call the doctor. I have many things I want to ask you," I said, which Leslie immediately complied with. She sat back down in a chair next to my bed.
"Okay. What do you want to ask?"
"Hmm, why am I here? I remember that time I fainted in that secret room, right? After I burned Harry's body, what happened after that?" I told all the questions in my mind to Leslie.
"Back then, actually my soul was there, Sean. In that secret room, locked in one of the cell rooms with my feet bound in chains like the bodies of women you see there. But you can't see me."
"Hm, as I thought," I said, cutting off the story.
"So I saw everything. I saw when Harry's ghost attacked you and Mr. Leo. I was so scared at that time. I screamed because I was too scared to see you guys in danger, but you couldn't hear me. I can't do anything to help you either." Once again, Leslie was crying hysterically, making me feel even more guilty for making her recall events she didn't seem to want to remember. I intended to tell her to stop telling it, but I stopped my intention when I saw her speak again.
"Thank goodness you did the right thing by burning the body. Even though we can't save Harry's ghost, he has sunk too deep into the darkness. There is no way to appease his spirit other than exterminating it so that he will stop doing evil and harming humans."
"So what happened to him after I burned his body?"
"The spirit is connected to the body, so when you destroy the body by burning it, the spirit will also be destroyed." I breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, my efforts were not in vain.
"So, the ghost won't appear again, right?"
"Yes, you managed to beat him," she said with a charming smile that fascinated me momentarily. But I immediately returned my composure and diverted my nervousness by asking another question.
"T-then who brought us to the hospital?" This question is also quite a wedge in my mind.
"As Harry's ghost disappeared, the chains bound me also fell off. Sheila and I made it back to our bodies. I immediately realized, and I told everything to Angie who was accompanying me at that time. Angie immediately contacted the police and also the hospital to send help there. Luckily they were able to arrive at the Villa, so you were saved quickly. If you're even a little late, maybe you… maybe you…" Leslie's eyes filled with tears again. I could already guess what would happen after this. And I don't want to see her tears again.
"Okay. Stop thinking about that scary incident, the important thing is we are safe, right? Then who is that person named Sheila?"
"She's Harry's fiancé. Just like me, her soul is also locked up by Harry's ghost. She had killed Harry by sticking a knife in her face. If you saw me returning to my senses after my soul returned to my body, I'm sure Sheila would be by now, too. The police had time to interrogate me. I had told them everything I knew. I hope Sheila gets free from her punishment, even though she has killed but she did it to defend herself." Leslie looked down. It seemed she already knew Sheila quite well. Yes, I always envied Leslie, who could quickly get along with other people.
"You don't need to worry. I believe the law is fair. Oh yes. How is Riska doing? She's fine, too, right?" Leslie nodded. I also understood what she meant.
"I'm grateful. That means we're all safe, right? You're back too. I am so glad. I don't think your parents will scold me either because they don't know you've ever been in a critical condition." Leslie chuckled at my words, making me wonder for a moment.
"You're wrong, Sean. My parents knew that I was in a coma. Even they are also in this hospital. It's just that they're waiting outside. Sunny and your stepfather also came. But your mother said she was still out of town. You must be prepared to answer my parents' questions." She chuckled again. Hearing the answer made a big question fill my head, which I must confirm with Leslie.
"Seriously… how many days have passed since that incident?"
"Seeing how healthy I am, you can't tell how many days you passed out, Sean?" I shook my head in response. I'm in a no-guess mode right now.
"You've been unconscious for over a week, you know, even my father extended permission to our campus. I was so worried about you because you didn't wake up. Don't do this to me again; don't scare me like this again." Leslie seemed to want to cry again. Why did that woman call so quickly? It makes me dizzy and confused.
I pulled her hand that was still in mine. Then I buried her head and hugged her as tightly as possible. Even though my back hurts from the pressure, I ignore it.
I have to prepare myself for the various questions Leslie's parents will ask. But the biggest thing that frustrates me is my college assignments, which must have been piling up because I've been absent for too long.
Yes, although I can't deny that the relief and gratitude I feel now are more significant than anything else. The most important thing is that this incident gave me a lot of lessons, one of which made me even more sure that no matter how complex and challenging a problem is, it can be solved with hard work and strong determination. My firm decision to bring Leslie back made me come through that peril. And from now on, I promise I will never leave Leslie. I will always accompany and help her even though, no matter how difficult we will face later. I hope to keep this promise because no human can predict what will happen in the future.
