Lucas Part 14
I stepped out of Leyna's room, leaving my friends in danger. But this is all I can do to save them. I was walking quickly towards the stairs when a voice suddenly sounded.
Not someone's voice, but I'm sure the sound came from a musical instrument called a piano that seemed to be being played by someone. Who plays the piano? And where is that sound coming from? As far as I remember, I haven't seen a piano in this Mansion since I entered it.
At first, the music from playing the piano sounded irregular, not songs I knew. It's just the sound of a piano being played carelessly by someone. I finally ignored the music and continued my way down the stairs.
However, suddenly, the tone of the music changed, and I heard a very famous and familiar rhythm of a song in my ear. Fur Elise by the legendary pianist Ludwig Van Beethoven is now playing melodiously in this Mansion. The piano playing that sounds neat and perfect indicates that the person playing the piano is indeed quite reliable. This very musical music sounds very scary to my ears.
Then a strange thing happened after that: I felt my surroundings spinning and my head so dizzy that I unconsciously held my head, and my footsteps still going down the stairs stopped instantly.
It didn't take long for me to feel dizzy, and the atmosphere around me returned to normal, but the piano playing still didn't stop and sounded clearer. I remember my original goal. I resumed my footsteps, this time by running.
However, my eyes widened when I saw a piano right in front of the main door. Someone was sitting, playing the piano. The figure was black smoke that formed a human body. Yes, I'm sure that figure is a ghost that keeps bothering me, and he should also be possessing Leyna's body. But why is he in front of me and playing the piano? Could he come out of Leyna's body? Or he's not the only ghost that inhabits this Mansion. So many questions are filling my mind, but I immediately get rid of them because I realize it's not the time to think about them now. The most important thing I must do is get out of this Mansion and ask for help.
I realized I couldn't reach the main door because the piano was nearby. I finally decided to leave through another door. I ran as fast as I could towards the door on the right. Even though my position with the piano was getting further away, for some reason, I could still clearly hear the Fur Elise song that was still playing. It even sounded louder in my ears.
As soon as I arrived at the door on the right, my eyes widened when I saw someone's figure. I'm sure it's Muggie. She's standing with her back to me. I approached her and lightly tapped her shoulder.
"Muggie," I called softly, but she should be able to hear. But instead of turning her body to look at me, I heard her sobbing. Muggie was crying, and it sounded so heartbreaking.
"What's wrong with you, Muggie? Why are you crying?" I asked worriedly. Then, with a slow movement, finally, Muggie turned her body to face me.
"Aaah!"
I screamed when I saw Muggie's hideous-looking face. Lots of scratch marks there, and the perpetrator who did it was Muggie herself. She kept clawing at her face with her long fingernails. Blood dripped from the scratch wound, with both eyes brimming with tears.
"Muggies, stop it!!" I snapped, trying to wake her up.
But it was useless. She was increasingly clawing her face. Her claw wounds were so severe and profound that her facial skin gradually peeled off and was replaced with bloodied flesh.
What happened after that was even more terrifying. Muggie positioned her fingers right in front of her eyes as if she were going to gouge out her eyeballs. My body was shaking to see it really; I was very horrified to see it.
"Stop it, Muggie. I beg you to stop," I said softly as my footsteps backed away from her. I couldn't bear to witness the horrible thing Muggie would do. But she walked up to me.
"Aaah!"
I shouted at last when I saw Muggie gouging out her right eye. No doubt, fresh blood flowed from her hollow eyes. When she was about to gouge out her left eye, I couldn't watch it anymore, so I ran away from Muggie as fast as I could.
No, it sure wasn't Muggie. The her I saw couldn't be Muggie because she couldn't be doing this crazy thing. I believe it in my heart. I ran as fast as I could towards the back door. I can't waste any more time. I have to ask for help ASAP.
When I arrived at the back door, once again, I saw the figure of one of my friends standing at the door. He was Carl, but his condition was extraordinary. I saw him standing with his head down. He hid one hand behind his body.
"Carl, are you all right?" I asked worriedly, scared of what happened to Carl like Muggie earlier. And damn what I was afraid of, it happened.
Carl looked up, and now he was looking at me with a look that was difficult to decipher. His hands that he had hidden behind his body now showed me. A sword was in that hand now.
"Carl, what do you want to do?" I panicked when he stepped toward me while pointing his sword at me. Could it be that he wanted to stab me with that sword? Could he be possessed or influenced by one of the ghosts in this Mansion? These are the questions that are filling my head right now. But apparently, my thinking was wrong when I saw Carl thrust the sword into his stomach. Of course, I cringed seeing him, especially seeing the grin on his face.
"Aaah!!"
I shouted how many times I saw him tearing his stomach with that sword. Fresh blood spurted from his stomach, and the rotten smell of blood made my head dizzy.
'Oeeek... Oeeeeek..."
I vomited all of my stomach contents even though my stomach was empty when I saw Carl's intestines and all the organs inside Carl's stomach disintegrate and fall to the floor. I can no longer see the terrifying sight, sweat running down my temples, accompanied by my panting breath. I ran as fast as I could, leaving Carl.
What happened? There's no way that everything I see is real, right? I shook my head. What I see is just an illusion. My steps lead me to the door on the left. The extent of this Mansion, which is undeniably significant, makes my breath even heavier. I wouldn't be able to stand up again if I didn't have the strong will to get out of this Mansion.
Unfortunately, I saw the same thing again when I finally arrived at the door on the left. The figure of a person was standing in front of the door, and without looking closely, I knew it was Leyna. She's doing something weird. I approached her even though my heart felt reluctant to approach her. But my curiosity made me ignore this reluctance.
I don't know how many times I felt frozen in place today because I saw a scene that I never imagined would happen before my eyes. Leyna was slashing her hand with a sharp knife in her hand. Laughter escaped her mouth with every wound she made on her poor hand.
"Leyna, stop it. Don't hurt yourself. You have to fight against the influence of that cursed ghost," I said firmly. I'm sure my friends are under the influence of the ghosts that inhabit this Mansion. I tried to stop Leyna by snatching the knife from her hands. However, she pushed me away, causing me to fall to my knees. After that, her actions made me unable to fight my fear anymore. Leyna pointed the knife at her mouth. Then she stuck out her tongue.
The sound of her tongue being sliced by the knife deafened my ears. It didn't stop there. After her tongue was cut, she tore her mouth with the knife.
"NO!" I screamed hysterically. I can no longer bear to witness such a horrific sight. I don't know where to get strength from. I got up and ran again as fast as I could.
The main door is the only way out of this Mansion. However, hearing the strains of this piano still audible made me sure that the piano must still be in front of the main door. I also had no other choice but to go upstairs and find a way out. I had thought about getting out through the window, but unfortunately, on the ground floor, the window was too high enough not to allow me to get through. Unlike the windows on the 2nd floor, the windows there are significant and not tall. Of course, it will be easy for me to pass through.
I intend to climb the stairs to the 2nd floor, when I see the piano that was in front of the main door is no longer visible. But, in front of the main entrance, someone was standing. Even from a distance, I know who it is. There's no way I would recognize him because he always fills my heart and mind. Someone who I love more than anyone besides my parents is the most important person for me in this world.
I walked over to him. He was staring at me when we were already at a reasonably close distance.
"Sean," I said softly, calling his name. He didn't answer, but he was still staring at me intensely—a look filled with sadness. I could see it clearly from those two eyes.
"What happened to you?" I asked again after I felt his attitude was very strange.
"Leslie, I'm sorry." His voice sounded soft. I even cringed when I saw clear beads coming out of his eyes. Something that very rarely happens to Sean. Sean cried, why?
"Sorry for what?" I asked again with concern that filled my heart.
"Sorry because I hurt you too much, and sorry because I couldn't keep all of my promises to you," he said, his tears flowing even harder.
"I will always forgive you even before you apologized to me. What's wrong Sean? Tell me your problem. And I beg you not to say words as if you will leave me." Now my tears are flowing, too. Imagining parting with Sean, there is nothing sadder for me than this.
Sean held his head, a sight I often see happening to him lately. But a terrible thing happened after that. Blood came out of Sean's nose, then from his mouth. His clear tears were now replaced by blood flowing from his eyes. Even his ears were bleeding. He kept walking towards me while holding his head, blood pouring from all his senses.
"Help me, Leslie," he said, but I just stared at him in shock. My tongue felt numb seeing the terrible sight I was seeing. I felt tears running down my face in rivers.
"This hurts so bad," he said again with a groan of pain that was increasingly visible on his face.
He is now standing right in front of me. His hands that had been holding his head were now holding mine. He opened my palms and stared intently at my palms.
'Oeeeek... Oeeeeek..."
I froze when I felt something warm fill my palm. Sean vomited his blood, and my palm felt like it was holding it.
I felt my body tremble when my palm was full of Sean's blood.
"N-No! NO!!!" I screamed hysterically.
I spilled the blood on my palm and looked back at Sean's face. A sinister grin painted on his face. No, this guy, not Sean. The friends that I saw earlier were not the real ones.
"STOP SHOWING ME THIS ILLUSION!! I WILL STILL FIGHT YOU. I WILL GET OUT OF THIS MANSION AND I WILL SAVE MY FRIENDS IN ANY WAY!!"
My screams rang out in this Mansion. A challenge, yes, I know those words, a challenge to a ghost that I don't even know the name of. I won't give up before I beat him.
"Leslie, help me," Sean said again, but I ignored him this time.
I ran towards the stairs and climbed them without hesitation. I will get out of this Mansion no matter what.
