Lucas Part 7
I spent that day shutting myself in my room. I even ignored Muggie's dinner invitation. When it was already 11 p.m., my eyes were still hard to close. I decided to take a walk around the mansion.
This mansion looks deserted, indicating that my friends are asleep in their rooms. I kept walking through the rooms in this mansion until my steps stopped when I arrived at the ground floor, in a space that Muggie said earlier. As Muggie noted, there were many vinyl records in this room. I noticed them one by one. Then I tried to play one of the records when I saw that there was also a gramophone in the room.
A song with a jazz nuance is playing melodiously. It looks like this room is soundproof so I'm sure it's impossible for my friends who sleep on the second floor to hear this music. There is a sofa in this room, and I decided to lie on the couch for a while, listening to these songs. My mood started to improve, and these melodic songs slowly made me sleepy, so I fell asleep without realizing it.
"Leslie... Leslie... Leslie..."
Someone's voice disturbed my sleep. I slowly opened my eyes. My eyes opened when I realized the vote, which I believed was a man's voice, came from the gramophone still playing the record earlier.
"Leslie... Leslie... Leslie..."
The voice sounded hoarse, a man's voice that I had never heard before. I drew closer to the gramophone, making sure once again that the sound was coming from there.
"Les...lie..."
I was surprised. The sound was indeed coming from the gramophone. I looked around me to make sure there was a ghostly appearance in this room. But as far as the eye could see, I did not see any figure here.
The wind blowing behind me brushed my long hair, which I let loose. I suddenly felt cold and sore in my head. With slow motions, I turned my body to look behind me. I felt a sense of fear that made my body tremble when I saw black smoke gradually coming out of the gramophone and the hoarse voice I heard calling my name incessantly.
I ran out of the room with my eyes constantly looking behind me. The black smoke was chasing me, and the lights on one by one started to go out, making the hall I was going through the dark. Suddenly, I felt a considerable force pushing me from behind, causing me to fall to the floor. I crawled and kept crawling away from whatever creature was chasing me. A wall cornered my position so that I couldn't escape anymore. I leaned my back against the wall and looked in front of me. The black smoke was getting closer to me.
"Hosh."
I felt someone's breath right on my ear, accompanied by the breeze that brushed my hair.
"Aah!!!"
I screamed as loud as I could and somehow got the strength from where I managed to get up. I ran as fast as I could towards the stairs.
However, once again, my steps stopped when I was about to climb the stairs. A growl from someone was heard from above. A growling voice seemed to be holding back pain. My initial intention was to climb the stairs. Instead, I walked backward away from the stairs.
"Aaah!!" I screamed when I felt a hand grip my shoulder. Suddenly, I crouched down while covering my ears. I'm terrified at this time.
"Leslie, what are you doing? Calm down, it's me."
That voice, I'm sure I know him all too well. I also turned towards the source of the sound and immediately felt relief when I saw Sean standing behind me. Without realizing it, I stood up and threw myself into Sean's arms.
"Sean, Sean, I'm so scared," I said as my tears started to flow. Sean rubbed my back gently.
"Calm down. What is it?" he asked, and then I released my hug to him.
"There's a ghost chasing me, but he doesn't show his face to me. I can only feel he's an evil ghost and he… he wants to hurt me."
"You must be dreaming. Calm down, there's nothing here."
"You haven't forgotten that I can sense ghosts? I'm sure the ghost is very evil, Sean."
"Yes, of course, I remember. There's no way I'd forget. Come on, calm yourself down. You must be tired and have a lot on your mind. I'll take you to your room." He held my hand, and all I did was follow him.
"W-what are you doing here at this time of night? Why are you not sleeping?" I asked, expressing my astonishment.
"I just came from the kitchen to get a drink," he said, holding the bottle.
"That question I should have asked you, right? Why don't you sleep instead of wandering on the ground floor?"
"I couldn't sleep so I listened to music in the music room. I accidentally fell asleep there. Then the ghost suddenly bothered me."
Sean just kept quiet, not responding to my explanation. Our footsteps stopped when we arrived at the door of my room.
"Sleep, don't think too much about what happened just now," he said, to which I replied with a nod.
"I'm going back to my room." Then he started walking when I remembered that there was something I wanted to ask him.
"Sean."
My calls stopped him. He turned back to look at me. I wanted to ask him about what happened at the swimming pool this afternoon, but I was worried that our fight would repeat if I asked him now, making me finally discourage myself.
"Why?" he asked again.
"It's okay. Thank you for walking me to my room.
"Yes. Good night, Leslie."
He finally really left me.
