Marie Part 5
My fears came true. My friends didn't believe all my stories. They didn't even believe me when I told them I was indigo. Their gazes were difficult to interpret when I told them about last night's incident, where I saw Marie's ghost under the tree, and because of that, I managed to find the box.
Even in class, when we took the exam, I felt the sneering glances from my friends in the dormitory. Besides considering me a thief, they also consider me a liar. The atmosphere in this class reminded me of the state of my Grandes High School class before I set foot in that school. Could it be that I will again feel shunned by my friends?
I remember how tormented I was because my classmates constantly bullied me. I don't want to experience it anymore. I'm in college now and want to get peace while studying here. I no longer want to feel suffering like when I went to Grandes High School.
If someone helped me convince my friends of the truth that I was indigo, they would believe me. But on this campus, only Sean knows all about me. He often witnessed when I helped the ghosts. This thought made me decide to ask Sean for help. Even though I was still reluctant to meet him after the incident at the cafeteria yesterday, my desire to regain my friends' trust and resolve this misunderstanding made me eliminate my ego.
As soon as evening came, I tried to call Sean's cell phone. But unfortunately, no matter how often I call his cell phone, it still can't connect. It looks like he still needs to turn on his cell phone. Then I went to the basketball court where Sean and his friends often played basketball in the afternoon. But I was again disappointed when the field looked deserted. Of course, everyone would prefer studying for exams rather than playing basketball, right? Only fools would rather play basketball than prepare for exams. I am a fool for thinking Sean might be playing basketball here.
I rushed to look for Sean elsewhere. I went to the library, hoping to see him studying there. I even decided I wouldn't care if I saw him studying with Leyna here. But again, I felt disappointed when I did not see their figures in this library.
Finally, my feet brought me to the cafeteria. I still remember clearly in my memory the annoying incident in this cafeteria. But again, I threw my ego away. I want to meet Sean under any circumstances. I didn't see him in this cafeteria, but I was stunned when I saw someone's figure. I know people, and I hope he knows where Sean is now. I rushed to the person.
"Hey, Carl. Sorry to bother you." Yes, Carl is the person I was referring to. He stopped eating and looked at me. He just stared at me silently, so it crossed my mind. Could it be that he has forgotten me? Although it feels like it wasn't long ago that I just introduced myself to him.
"You still remember me, right?" Finally, this question was ejected from my mouth.
"Of course, you're Sean's girlfriend," he replied, instantly relieving me.
"What is it?" he asked again.
"Sorry to interrupt your meal, Carl. Hm, do you know where Sean is?"
"Why don't you just call him?" he asked back. A question that, of course, I have done since earlier without needing to be reminded by him.
"His cell phone is off. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find it. I saw you here, so you might know where he is now.
"Sean and I are not as close as you might think, even though we share a room." That answer made me understand something. He seemed pretty bothered that I asked him about Sean. I also remember when he ignored Sean during our first meeting in Sean's room. At that time, I realised their relationship didn't seem close.
"Maybe he's in the dorm. Why don't you look for him there?" he said again. I've been thinking the same thing about him ever since. However, entering the male dormitory, to be honest, I still feel reluctant even though I've entered the male dormitory twice.
"If you're willing to wait for me to finish my meal, I'll take you to find Sean at the dorms." He said again, which made my eyes widen.
"Is it true? Sorry, Carl, I keep bothering you."
"No problem, glad to help you." He said while smiling at me. A smile that makes me feel good just by looking at him.
I nodded and sat opposite him.
"You eating alone, Carl?" I was surprised because he ate alone in this canteen. I never even dared to eat alone in the cafeteria. If I don't have friends to eat with here, I prefer to eat alone in my room.
"I'm more comfortable eating alone. Besides, now I'm not alone. You're there to accompany me." He smiled back at me. Carl is a very kind and friendly person. I misjudged him because I used to think he was arrogant and cold.
After he finished his meal, we headed toward the men's dormitory. But, if I knew what I would see in Sean's room would make me feel pain in my heart again, I would never set foot in his room. When Carl opened the room door, a scary sight came into my eyes. A sight that was even scarier than when I saw even the scariest ghost.
With my own two eyes, I saw Sean sleeping on his bed, and Leyna was sitting on a chair beside his bed kissing Sean. I kissed him right on the lips. I froze and was stunned right then and there. I immediately approached them and pushed Leyna's body so that she fell on the floor.
"What are you doing, idiot?!" Leyna shouted at me.
"I'm the one who should be asking this: What are you doing here? And just now, what were you two doing?!" I asked, screaming, too.
"You always come and bother us!! You sicken me, Leslie!!"
"You're the one who sickens me!! Stop teasing Sean!!" I screamed louder than before.
"It's so noisy in here. Can't you guys just let me sleep in peace?!" The scream that came from Sean made me and Leyna stop for a moment. Sean got up from his lying position and glared at me.
"What are you doing here, Leslie?" Sean asked me with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
"I'm the one who should ask that. What are you and Leyna doing here? Why is she in the men's dorm, in your room?"
"Just so you know, Leslie ... it was Sean who took me to his room," said Leyna, trying to defend herself, but of course, I didn't believe her. There's no way Sean brought her here. That's what I think. He never even took me to the men's dorm. I had to coax him desperately when I asked him to take me to the men's dorm to investigate Eric's ghost first, so how could he invite Leyna to his room? I believe Sean is not that kind of man. Yes, to this day, I still believe in it. I'm sure it must be Leyna who seduced and forced him.
"Don't talk nonsense. There's no way Sean brought you here!!" I said, full of emotion.
"It's true what Leyna said. I was the one who asked her to take me to my room." I can't say anymore. I really can't believe what I just heard from Sean's mouth. He unhesitatingly acknowledged the truth of Leyna's words.
"Why did you get into the men's dormitory yourself?" Leyna asked me that with a sarcastic look.
"I brought it." Me, Leyna, and Sean are no exception, looking at the source of the sound. Carl, of course, said it.
"I know you're an asshole, Sean. But I didn't expect you to be a bastard too." Sean looked very angry at Carl's words. He got up and stood right in front of Carl.
"What are you saying? Try again one more time!"
"Even though Leslie was looking for you since earlier, if I knew you were with your mistress then I would never have brought her here. How could you do this to Leslie?"
"Take care of that talk, besides, since when did you care about my business? Or maybe you like Leslie, huh?" Sean asked, grinning.
"I just don't like the way you treat her. She cares about you though."
"It seems you fell in love with Leslie," Sean said again, which made my anger peak.
"Cut the bullshit, Sean. You owe me a lot of explanations. And I want to hear your explanation right now!!" I shouted.
"It looks like we are disturbing. Let's get out of here quickly." After saying that, Carl grabbed Leyna's hand and forced her to leave the room, ignoring Leyna, who kept struggling to release her hand.
After it was just me and Sean in the room, I decided to talk seriously with him.
"Explain everything, Sean," I started the conversation.
"No need to explain," he replied coldly.
"Are you dating Leyna now? At least end our relationship first, I won't forbid you to have contact with her again. But please don't hang up our relationship like this," I said with the overflowing anger I felt inside me.
"It seems you are the one who wants to end our relationship immediately. Why Leslie? Is there another guy you like already? I guess I can guess who that guy is. He's Carl, right?" My hands were shaking, holding back my anger. I want to slap him right now. However, I'm still trying to hold it in.
"Don't compare me to you. I won't be with another man when I'm still in the status of having a boyfriend."
"Haah... I told you I and Leyna are just friends."
"Friends, you say? Is it appropriate to have friends kissing passionately in the room?" Sean had a confused look on his face. But I can't be wrong to see. I did see them kissing earlier.
"Kissing? Me and Leyna?" he asked confused.
"Yeah, don't tell me you didn't realize you were kissing her?"
"I'm sleeping, Leslie. Where can I kiss her? Don't make it up and find fault with me. You just can't wait to end our relationship, right?" Of course, I could hardly believe his words. Why is the situation as if I'm at fault and lying here?
"I don't want to talk about this now. We'll talk later."
"If you can talk about it now, why later?" I replied curtly.
"I'm not well, Leslie. I want to sleep. Can you leave me alone?" I can't stand to linger in this place anymore, so I rushed to leave it. My initial intention to meet him was finally abandoned.
Once in my room, I told Muggie everything. She looked angry when I told her I saw Leyna kissing Sean. Muggie intended to find Leyna, who had not returned to the room until now, but I forbade her. I was more interested in talking about Marie's ghost problem than trying to find the whereabouts of that insignificant Leyna.
"I believe in you, Leslie. In all your stories, including the one about you being able to see ghosts, I believe them all. If Sean really can't help you, then I will help you," she said, which stunned me, and at the same time, I felt pleasure spreading all over my body. I'm happy because some still want to believe in me and even help me.
"Let me prove the truth about your ability so that other friends believe you," she said again with seriousness.
"Really Muggies?" She nodded her head in response. I hugged her. I want to show how happy I am to have a friend like her.
"Now tell me, what should I do to help you?" she asked again. I could see it. Seeing the sincerity of her words, I want her to help me.
"Tonight, do you want to accompany me to find Marie's ghost?" Muggie was stunned. She must have doubts because she must be afraid to meet ghosts. Who is not scared to meet ghosts? There isn't a single person who doesn't feel frightened when they're about to meet a spirit. Even Angie, a psychic, was finally scared when she saw the ghost of Inez for the first time.
"M-meet a ghost, huh?" I nodded my head in answer.
"For your sake, I will accompany you."
"Don't push yourself when you're scared," I said. I don't want to see her push herself just for my sake.
"No, everything will be fine. I told you I believe in you. Then what should I do next?" I smiled at that, relieved because she still insisted on helping me.
"You'll record it on your cell phone later. Whatever you're going to feel. I hope the sighting can be recorded although I doubt it. But it can't hurt us to give it a try, right?"
"All right, Leslie. Let's do it!" Once again, I nodded my head to accept her invitation.
What's left now is what I should do when I encounter the ghost of Marie. Maybe she will be angry after knowing the stolen things have been returned to their owners. Perhaps I'll get Muggie involved in danger, but I can't stop there. I don't want to be accused of being a thief any longer.
The most important thing I must think about is a way to appease the spirit and go to its realm. For this, I should ask Angie for advice. As a medium, of course, she knows a lot about ghosts. Or at least she would ask her father how to deal with a spirit acting strangely like Marie. Yes, I've decided to ask Angie for advice.
