22.2- Mistake
'Then, how come my voice is reaching you when you can't hear it in the first place? How can my words make a difference or change your perspective when you cannot hear?" I asked hurriedly, panting tenderly, emitting the emotion he resents the most- Pity.
His eyes widened in astonishment for a moment, lips parted. Not expecting I would bring this topic in this conversation and now he regrets sharing a fragile part with me.
'Why don't you stop your screams and listen to mine? They will be worthwhile too." I curled my lips upwards in a hysterical smile but he didn't prefer it. The discontent crept faster than his rage.
'Stop your screams once, Sebastian-" I was about to ask, to continue to push him past his comfort zone but the timing didn't allow me.
'We are here, come." Calling, he grabbed my hand roughly, getting off the train in a hurry but his stoic expression cannot conceal the increase in breaths and gleaming strain.
My eyes were affixed on his face as he kept holding my hand, taking me with him. Since I cannot argue, I went along, not extending our conversation further.
'What's so special about this place?" I mumbled, shifting my eyes, noticing he was not letting go of my hands. His hands were cold, probably from the ac, but holding mine firmly.
'It's not about the pool but the sight. Place de la Bourse is one of the most recognizable sights." He explained, looking out from his window, sighing.
'I see.." I hummed and soon the sun began to set, an orange-yellowish scenery dispersing in the sky to create a lavishing sight. Getting lost in it, I leaned back on my seat, staring out until we reached our place.
'We are here, Boss." Dave informed, getting out as I was taken aback by the lavishing building before me, compelling to the level of matching the dreamy castles I talked about.
'Did you like it?" He asked, standing behind me to ruin the aesthetic sight for me by his presence.
Forming my lips in a thin line, I nodded, my heart began to thump, noticing the place when an absolutely wrong idea entered my mind.
'It's beautiful." I whispered, tugging my hair behind my ear, forcing a faint smile. He hummed, shifting his eyes to face, noticing the faint smile I haven't shown in a while.
'Stand like this, don't stop smiling too. I want to take a picture of you." He said, taking out his phone and moving back.
Surprised, I shifted but he frowned, gesturing me to stand like before with my finger tugging my hair and smiling. Looking at the ground, I let him take the picture.
'You are so exquisite, you know." He whispered sincerely, putting his phone back, returning a microscopic smile.
'Don't you… want us to take a picture.. Together?" I asked, not lifting my head but coming closer, he rested his hand on my shoulder.
'No." With a short reply, he moved closer and took off his shoes.
'Take off your shoes." He said, confused but I followed his direction and took off my shoes and gave them to Dave.
Coming closer we walked on the elegant pool before us, the granite slabs covered in 2 cm of water giving a strange sensation to my feet.
'What do you think?" He asked, hand over my shoulder, walking with our feet covered in water.
'It's pretty." I whispered, looking down, for a second finding ourselves as a normal couple but the unsettling in my heart uncontrollable.
He is not what he is showing, he will make my life miserable when we will be back. He would bring us back to the point we ran from.
Am I going to live my life in terror?
With a murderer who can kill me anytime?
Are these moments worth anything?
'Sebastian…" Stopping in my tracks, I turned to him timidly.
'Hmm?"
'I.. am hungry. We just got here, I don't want to leave yet. Can you send Dave to get us something?" I asked innocently, praying he would buy my excuse to leave us alone.
'Sure." Shrugging his shoulders, he didn't think much and I thought he would leave my shoulder but he called Dave to come to us.
'Dave, Eileen's hungry. Check around and get her some pastry, some chips or a cold sandwich." He ordered him to get what I exactly like, leaving me in wonder on how he remembered.
'Yes, Boss." With a nod, he left us alone, going to get what I wanted and we were there alone, walking again.
'If you were hungry you should have told me before. We could grab something first and then come here." He told me.
'You looked angry, I couldn't tell…" I whispered, biting the inside of my cheek, fidgeting my fingers around my dress.
He didn't respond but noticed my nervousness and fortunately took it because of his hand on my shoulder. My heart skipped a beat, I contemplated my surroundings, I could feel my soul screaming one word.
Stop.
But, is each second in his proximity worth it? Is my misery worth it? Why would I ruin my life for a man who is nothing but a damn criminal who doesn't possess a heart in the first place?
For a Devil?
'What are you thinking, Eileen?" He asked, noticing my exasperation. My breath hitched, I couldn't hide. His steps slowed down, frightening me.
'I.. I.." Countless thoughts began to attack me.
‘England is his territory, I cannot raise my voice against him, let alone to run away. This is my chance, he is softer here. He won't be next time. I cannot let this slip but- if he caught me- No, No, don't think about it, Eileen. It's now or never.'
My worrisome thoughts were invented and it felt like heavens were on my side when sudden steam began to emerge from the ground.
'Ei-" I gasped, pulling away roughly from Sebastian but to satisfy my inner rage, I kicked him in the groin hard. Thanking the steam which helped me pull away.
Pushing him on the ground before retreating my steps and began to run away without any intention of looking back with his groan reaching my ears along with a fear that-
If I get caught this time, I would suffer hell.
