48- Thrilled
"Seeing Sebastian thrilled frightened me but deep down I was relieved that at least he is not what he is to the world with me."
I knew I held power over him to an extent but I had no idea I could use it in my favor to make him do what I want- when he was in a good mood, obviously.
But, it warmed my heart when before everyone, he kept my pride and agreed to ask for forgiveness for his actions without arguing.
He walked away but I smiled feebly and went after him but he held a grimace on his face and it made me smile, glancing at him when we entered the dining hall.
'By the way, are you still here, mate?" Ruben asked, entering with Asad as well, still astonished how I managed to do it- I was too.
'What do you mean?" Sebastian asked, taking a seat, not removing his frown from my face but I pretended I didn't see it.
'Nathaniel surrendered. If they execute him, you would become the number one ace." Asad told him playfully, resting his elbows over the headrest of the chair, smirking darkly.
My smile faded, stopped for a hot second when they mentioned Plague Doctor. Sebastian didn't display much which made me forget his profession sometimes and then I remembered it.
If anything happened to him… Sebastian would come on top.
The biggest criminal of the underworld…
This thought alone made my heart stop. I wonder how many crimes and sins Sebastian had committed to reach that level.
'I doubt it, not the first time Nathaniel is outwitting death. No one could beat his mind. There must be something deeper. Besides, I already know to whom he would give the throne and his everything to." Sebastian replied nonchalantly, finally looking up at Asad.
‘Throne? I thought there wasn't any king. Weren't they working individually?'
'Well, you can't predict what Nathaniel would do but I doubt you would work for her." Ruben asked casually, taking a seat in a well which brought a sour expression on his face.
His jaw clenched, growling, 'I would rather die than work under her as if she could take her mother-in-law's place. Valencia was flawless, no person in this world could replace her. She was a perfect leader."
I shot up my head, taken aback at the series of compliments Sebastian gave and I had never heard Sebastian complimenting anyone. He called me exquisite too but nothing more but for her, I could see deep admiration in his eyes.
Was she his… ideal?
'Hmm, true. But she died terribly too." Asad mumbled, shrugging his shoulders, sitting down as well and now I wanted to know about this woman Sebastian was admiring sincerely.
'What happened to her?" I asked, glancing at Asad to know more. He smirked, turning back to me.
'Interested? Her family was massacred. Everyone in her family died except for her son Nathaniel. Her four years old daughter was shot right before eight years old Nathaniel's eyes." He told me casually wiping my intrigues instantly. My heart skipped a beat, realizing the risk this dangerous life brings along.
‘That was when I realized if I didn't notice it didn't mean I am safe. Death was over my head too but Sebastian had protected me.'
'His other sister survived too. She is living away from all this with her husband, Prince used to work under Nathaniel." Sebastian mumbled, eating his breakfast, disinterested.
'Leave her. Tell me, Are you going to attend the execution? Zaviyaar and others are coming too." Ruben called, gaining Sebastian's attention who smirked devilishly, that vicious smirk I saw when he killed Rick before my eyes.
'Do you think he would reject the absolute gathering of all Aces?" Asad chuckled.
'What do you think?" He asked huskily.
I shivered in appall, when his eyes shone with the darkness I first saw in his eyes. It showed he might have changed for me but for the world, he was still the same.
He was thrilled.
'Certainly, I will." He smirked, staring back at Ruben, reflecting all the darkness this life gave him.
'Expected. How can you miss this chance?" Ruben chuckled dryly, shaking his head in disappointment while I cleared my throat, ate my food quickly and went back to our room.
If I was away from all this didn't mean everything was fine. I was totally shut down from his work. He kept me away from all this.
Did he… shelter my innocence?
While I was in the room, sitting on the bed, covering my face in my hands, I heard footsteps, hearing the door being opened and closed.
"Did you see, Eileen?" Sebastian's deep, husky voice came, smirking emptily at me but I was looking down, shaking in dread.
His smirk scared me. He was in his white shirt, sleeves rolled to the elbow, throwing his phone away and approaching me and I was tense.
"The news of Nathaniel's imprisonment spreaded in the underworld like rapid fire. Nathaniel, being the only leader who was never arrested before. And is now arrested for murdering his own comrade. Some considered it a great plan for an atrocious purpose while to some it was the end of his era." He explained what was going on in his world for the first time. He had never told me anything related to work before.
Then why was he telling me about Nathaniel now?
"The King is dethroned." He enunciated, standing before me with his hands in his pockets, looking down at me with a sinful smirk.
"Are you going to take his place and become the ruler of the underworld?" I asked innocently, raising my gaze to meet his.
"I am a man driven by lust and selfishness. Nothing but my desire and the violence I create matters to me and let me tell you, Eileen." Resting his one hand on the bedpost, he leaned lethally closer to my face, holding my chin.
"Cruel Kings meet cruel ends." With a seductive whisper, he completed his sentence, sending a shiver down my spine, pulling away.
"So you won't take it? You will ultimately become the first after Plague Doctor is gone." I asked again. The thought that if he became number one and I, his wife… It made me feel strange but I was not frightened. Just weird.
"That man had ruined the whole balance of the underworld for one fucking promise he made to that human killing machine Zariah." He snarled and I recognized that name instantly. Zariah was his wife.
"His wife?" I asked, realizing now why he was explaining this to me.
To let me know what she did to him to the point even the number one Mafia leader fell into chaos.
"They are anything but a married couple. Legally they are but emotionally, physically, spiritually, they are torn apart." He muttered, rolling his eyes off, growling too.
Before I could ask about his reaction, he told me the reason, 'This is the exact reason I won't prefer love." Whispering huskily, his finger slid under my chin, forcing my worried eyes to meet his.
"Look what he did for the sake of love. Putting all the aces of the underworld under a pathetic woman." He growled, he didn't want the same to occur to him but I smirked back emptily.
"Like how you control Alphonse? Is what you did just came around you?" I mocked because he was controlling him too and now he didn't want someone else to force their orders on him anymore.
"Darling they are dangerous deals, don't entangle yourself in them. They are much deeper and darker than you fathom." He chuckled, definitely not liking my mock in the slightest.
"Do not get involved with the underworld. You focus on our tale. Nothing else." He whispered in my ear temptingly, kissing my cheek softly and pulling away.
The shock of this news was surely immense and he wanted to do what Asad was doing. Enjoy the drama.
"Witness the ravage this man had gained for one woman. What pathetic emotions this is." Snickering, I trembled again because I knew he would compare it to us.
But, as he said, Nathaniel's wife is a fucking human killing machine, who am I compared to that?
"Do you understand now why I don't love you?" He asked seductively, staring intensely into my eyes, connecting two entirely different matter but-
Back to where we started- He didn't want me to weaken him.
Closing my eyes, I bore the sensation and nodded weakly with a murmur, "Yes…" But, I won't let things remain in my heart anymore.
"Now I understand…" This time a mischief evoked in my heart and taking advantage of the leniency I own.
"The heartbreaking outcome of their love has scared you because…" I smirked, grabbing his shirt to bring us on an equal level, staring back into his beautiful eyes as I declared what he least wanted to hear.
'She weakened him like ‘I' have weakened ‘you'."
