54.2- Not A Tale Of Yesterday
Ruben was about to continue and push me into those unwanted and worrisome thoughts but Asad stopped Ruben from continuing.
'These walls hold much deeper secrets and blood than you can imagine, My Lady." Asad whispered, patting Ruben's back who was fuming with rage, cursing Sebastian for ruining his face by ripping his eye out.
'Ask your husband whenever you are free." Asad whispered, taking Ruben with him who was not in the mood to listen to anyone, growling continuously.
'I should be going." I mumbled, biting the inside of my cheek to leave quickly and clear my mind.
'I can drop you off." Asad offered, letting Ruben go back to the apartment. Yeah, these two were living in an apartment yet refused to stay there.
'No thanks." I spoke quickly, I didn't want to enrage Sebastian now. I wanted to do something for him.
'Obeying husband, aren't we? Don't worry, come." Asad laughed a little, motioning to me to come after him but I had some questions too so I went with him.
He smirked but I tried paying no attention to him as we left.
'How do you know my friend Sofia?" Turning to him, I asked him the question that was bothering me the most which he showed no reaction when I asked.
'A tale of yesterday, leave it, forget it." He chuckled, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel but I was perplexed.
'How do you know her?" I asked again, not liking him twisting words.
'She was my junior back in college, nothing deeper." He replied calmly, not calling her a ‘very' personal matter now.
I opened my mouth to ask again but he continued when he stopped outside my place.
'But, I am not as bad as you think. I was called for help which I will provide. If you need anything, you can let me know, My Lady." He returned a sweet smile, turning his head to me with a charm I hadn't noticed on his features before.
I was confounded at his display of gallantry and he increased it by saying sugar-coated words, 'I am here for you."
Flabbergasted, I was left with the inability to react properly and with a nervous hum, I turned my gaze away and went back home quickly.
I didn't want to hear anything anymore.
Shaking my head off to let his thoughts out, I went inside my home where my parents rushed to my side after seeing me, jumping into my arms.
'Eileen, are you okay?" Papa asked, on the verge of crying as I smiled, nodding.
'I am fine. Everything is okay. You don't have to worry about anything. I told you, he wouldn't hurt me." I whispered, holding firm faith in my words at this point. He wouldn't.
'Oh, Thank God." Papa almost cried, kissing my forehead, hugging me tightly, refusing to let me go. Suffocated at his extremely tight hug, I patted his shoulder.
'Can't.. Breathe, Papa." I called, calling him to leave me so I could breathe.
'Oh, right." He chuckled nervously as I turned to Sofia. I called her especially because if he was not telling me, she must.
'Are you okay?" I asked, giving her a side hug, checking her injured arm.
'Yeah, I am fine. It's much better now." Sofia replied nervously, returning a faint smile. She seemed disturbed but I didn't ask for now.
After meeting everyone, I went to my room, grabbed my phone first and sent a voice note to Sebastian.
'Hey, Have you reached yet? Are you tired?... You said you will wait for my call- did you?... Call me back when you have time. Also, Asad dropped me at my home, don't be angry about it please. Sorry… Take care."
I deliberately mentioned about Asad that if he wouldn't call back normally but hearing Asad drop me, he would scold me. I needed to hear his voice, even if by means of scolding.
'What happened?" Sofia asked, entering my room while I was pacing around the room in distress. My heart was thumping, I was worried about Sebastian but he wasn't responding.
'Nothing. Seems like Sebastian had bipolar disorder. He said he will wait for my call but now his phone is powered off." I muttered, throwing my phone again, cursing at him for worrying me.
'Maybe the battery died." She shrugged, taking a seat.
'Power bank exists." I reasoned.
'Maybe he is busy." She gave another reason.
'A single text won't take long."
'Maybe he is too tired and went to sleep directly."
'A single voice note won't hurt, Sofia. It would literally take two seconds to say I have arrived." I growled, losing my patience with him for ignoring me.
'Okay, okay," She sighed, chuckling a little at my mien, at my fury.
'From him, did he apologize properly?" I asked, turning to Sofia as she smiled and nodded.
'He did. Sincerely, In fact, I doubt I had seen him this sincere before. Not only he apologized but asked me to not leave you alone, to not break our friendship because of him. He cares about you a lot." She whispered, telling me what Sebastian did for my sake, bringing a scarlet shade followed by a shy smile to my lips.
'So… everything is cool between you two?" She asked again, plopping on her unharmed elbow, smirking at my reactions.
'Yeah, we are fine but from that I remember, I need to talk to you." I asked quickly, taking a seat as well, grabbing a pillow nearby because we were going to dive into a deeper depth of conversation.
'Me? What did I do?" She asked, sitting up straight as my features hardened.
'How do you know Asad Sheikh, Sofia?" I asked strictly, wiping her smirk with an appall, pure distress came to her features at the mention of his name.
'How do you know him? W-What does he have to do with our talk?" She asked, fright laced in her tone, fidgeting her fingers around her dress.
'Because he threatened my husband for daring to shoot you, Sofia. How could you never tell me about him?" I asked furiously, not believing my best friend hid this from me.
'Because I don't want to do anything with him. I don't want to have any connections with him. I want him out of my life." She hissed in a whisper, detesting his mention which probably evoked unwanted memories.
'Why?" I asked, tensed about her wellbeing to have a connection with someone as dangerous as him.
'Because he is a fucking manipulator!" She whisper-yelled, shivering a little. The fear was clear in her tone and I could confirm it, he had a charm around him capable of it.
Exhaling, disquiet etched on her features as she began to tell me, 'You remember I used to tell you about that handsome senior of mine who helped me in everything?"
'Was it him?" I asked in disbelief. I remember her talking hopelessly about her seniors when she was in UAE for studies.
'Yes. He would entangle you in his talks in such a way that you would think everyone is wrong except him. He did the same to me." She whispered, biting her bottom lip, lowering her head.
'But what did he do and why?" I asked, intrigued to know further, what happened, how they reached this point. I wanted to know it all.
'I don't know. I don't know anything but I didn't want to do anything with him. I came back to London." She whispered, shaking a little from fright and the more I wanted her out from this mess, the more she was entangled in it.
'I never understood why you went to Dubai in the first place when London is the best place for education." I exhaled in disappointment, I never understood why she was sent there in the first place.
'I don't know, Father sent me." She whispered, hugging her knees, making a tensed face.
'Your Father is just- Leave it. What did Asad do?" I growled, shaking my head and coming to the main point.
Taking a deep breath, Sofia began to tell me what Asad did, 'He…"

How calmly he said it was a tale of yesterday while it was clearly not. I was stunned, trying to fathom how he could do this to her, mouth gaped, perturbed immensely for Sofia while she kept telling me.
'I was frightened so I just came back. Father told me to seal my mouth so I never told anyone about that night." She whispered, shaking from dread, unable to meet my eyes while I was flabbergasted. Feeling compassion for her.
'But I could never forget what he told me." She continued, voice cracked, hugging her sides after finishing.
'What did he tell you?" I asked, swallowing hard, she shivered, telling me the words he told her in their last meeting.
'No matter where you go, you will be under my shadow forever."
