80.2- Open Book
"I wish my wife could be an open book like you. I have absolutely no idea how she is." Nathaniel chuckled emptily.
He would never confess. Never accept what Eileen said. But, what can I say? They are one hell of a couple.
"Devastated. She fainted when she saw him at the execution. She was crying so much that she couldn't even tell the Plague Doctor they showed to the world was a fake." I smirked hollowly which wiped his smile instantly.
There was the dejection I wanted to witness on his unreadable face.
'She was sobbing and wailing. Ravaged to find herself becoming a widow." It pierced through his chest.
He could understand this whole world except her.
What a tragedy.
The Plague Doctor can own the world, can cure anyone except the one he truly wants to.
Noticing his lost expression, my smirk grew wider, "Did it hurt you to hear that?"
And I tried to give him a push but Eileen tapped my arm, "Sebastian, stop."
"He knows what he is doing, Eileen. You could never know what he might be planning because we both know-"
Leaning closer, I stared dead into his eyes, bringing him back to reality because all knew nothing could defeat his mind as I spoke his true identity.
"He is a Dangerous Worshiper."
And it vanquished the woe in a second. Lowering his head more, his grimace gradually converted into faint but husky laugh, indicating his sinister mind.
'I didn't think it was this obvious." He smirked sinfully.
'It seems like my wife is not the only person who is an open book here." I taunted, leaning back and moving my hand to rest it on Eileen's shoulder.
"Who knows? Anyways, your man told me to ask you. I am curious to know one thing." He shrugged, changing the topic quickly before he could spill anything he shouldn't.
"What can I answer? What is it?" Eileen asked nervously, unable to understand our talk's depth too.
"I expected him to cause bloodshed on my execution but he didn't. Why?" Nathaniel asked, amused.
Eileen smiled gracefully and rested her hand on my chest which made it skip a beat, connecting her gems with mine like nothing else existed in this world and whispered the correct response.
"Because I didn't want him to die."
Nathaniel was taken aback at her display of emotions, at her one intense glance and ended up chuckling, making us break our link and turn to him.
"You truly are an open book." He laughed, shaking his head but I have already reached the point of acceptance.
"What? Did I say something wrong, Sebastian?" She asked, panicking a little.
She cared about my image and dominance too much. She didn't want anyone to think I could be weaker.
"No, you didn't, Mrs Stellios. Just that your one sentence gave the answer to all my questions?" Nathaniel reassured her.
"Like?"
"Why is he weaker now? Because more power means more life threats and he couldn't go beyond because you don't want him to die." He gave an example but yeah, my dream of a future with her refrained me.
I don't want to die either.
I want to live a long life with her. I deserve that… right?
"Is it bad, Sebastian? Am I weakening you?" She asked innocently, pulling my shirt a little, curling her lips downwards.
"What? No, Fairy."
Straightening my back quickly, I pulled her closer to my embrace. Keeping her closer to me. resonance changing from my usual cold and deep one to a tender one.
'Back then, I didn't have a reason to exist. I don't want to die anymore. I want to grow old with you. You said nothing wrong. I take pride in my feelings for you." Whispering, I kissed the top of her head, helping her relax.
'Really?"
'Hmm."
"Fairy, huh? Aren't you… worried that it might ruin your image?" Nathaniel smirked after witnessing our lovely scene.
"What kind of lover would I be if I can't tell this world that I love her?" I intentionally taunted him. Hitting where it hurts the most.
"Not everyone is capable of saying 'I love you', Sebastian. They take a lifetime to do so. In fact, not most people could display love too." He whispered, trying to stay unaffected by my words but they pinched him deeply.
"I am not like you, Nathaniel." I said seriously.
"Nor is she my Zari." He replied in the same tone.
"I doubt there is anyone like her. A human killing machine, a puppet with no feelings. I hate how you gave her your position." I muttered, pulling away from Eileen but not too much.
"Don't say this. She is just… different from others. I am sure she will be fine." He sighed, not wanting to talk more or else we might end up fighting.
Rising from his seat, he flashed a charming smile.
"Anyways, it was a pleasure to meet you, Mrs Stellios. I haven't gotten mine yet but I pray that you guys find a happily ever after."
"I don't think I need to find it." Eileen smiled, bewildering and slowly turned to me.
"I am already living my happily ever after."
God, this reply would kill me.
"I see. Glad to hear that. Well, I am off to work. And yeah, send my payment to De Villiers." He said, turning to leave but my mouth gaped.
"You want me to pay you?"
"Of course. I don't protect people for free. I run no charity." He frowned. He charges the highest, if anyone would find out about his black money, they would be astonished.
"You own my land." I reasoned.
He smirked, not caring about it, "That is security. Not my fees. Goodbye. I hope this situation never comes again, it gives me an ick." He scoffed.
I did that too, "Me too. I hate the fact you saved me." If it wasn't for Eileen, I would never extend my hand towards him. Why would I live under his shade?
It was repulsive.
After he left, I sighed loudly, pinching the bridge of my nose, "Damn, paying him now would dent my net worth."
"Is it that high?" Eileen asked in staggered.
"He is still number one, Eileen. It is called ultimate protection for nothing." I sighed.
When I look at her, losing a billion doesn't sound bad. I could trade anything for her, who cares about a few zeroes?
What is wealth before my Fairy?
