A New Dawn
The sun was rising over the city, casting a golden hue across the skyline. It felt symbolic, like a silent acknowledgment that everything had changed.
Selene stood by the window of her new apartment, watching the city slowly come to life, for the first time in years, she wasn't watching for danger or waiting for a fight. She was just… existing.
Eve walked in with a cup of coffee in her hands. She set it down on the counter, leaning against it as she studied Selene.
'You've been standing there for a while," Eve noted. Selene exhaled. 'It doesn't feel real." Eve nodded. 'It will. Eventually."
Lucian was gone, the trial had been swift—his empire dismantled, his crimes laid bare for the world to see and there had been no escape or no last-minute schemes.
Selene had watched as he was sentenced, his final smirk faltering just before he was led away. She had expected him to fight until the very end, but at that moment, he had finally accepted defeat. Now, he was locked away, a ghost of the past and she was free.
Selene turned to Eve. 'What do we do now?" Eve smirked. 'Live." Selene let out a soft chuckle, 'Living". It seemed so simple, yet it was the hardest thing she had ever faced but she wasn't alone.
Eve picked up her coffee, taking a sip before glancing at Selene. 'We've spent so long fighting, maybe it's time we learn how to breathe."
Selene hesitated, then nodded. 'Yeah, I think it is." The silence between them was comfortable, filled with unspoken understanding.
Selene stepped away from the window, grabbing her jacket. 'Let's go." Eve raised an eyebrow. 'Where?" Selene shrugged. 'Anywhere," Eve smirked, grabbing her jacket.'I like the sound of that."
They walked out together, leaving behind the ghosts of their pasts with no fear and no battle.
Just the open road and a future waiting to be written together.
Then End…..
