Rebuilding the Pieces
The cold night air wrapped around Selene as she and Eve stepped out of the facility. The world outside felt different. Lighter and unfamiliar.
For so long, Lucian's influence had dictated every step of their lives. Now, for the first time, they stood on their own terms. No more orders. No more fear. No more chains but freedom wasn't as simple as they had imagined.
Eve exhaled, wrapping her arms around herself. Her body still carried the weight of everything they had endured.
Selene glanced at her, noticing the exhaustion hidden beneath her sharp gaze. They had won, but they weren't unscathed.
'We should get out of here," Eve murmured. Selene nodded. She wasn't sure where they were going, but she knew they couldn't stay.
The city stretched before them, alive and buzzing. So much had happened, yet the world kept moving as if nothing had changed.
Selene's fingers curled into fists but everything had changed.
Eve turned to her. 'You okay?" Selene exhaled. 'I will be." Eve studied her for a moment before nodding. Neither of them fully knew what came next, but for the first time, they had the choice.
As they walked, Selene felt the weight in her chest begin to ease. This wasn't the end. This was the beginning of something new and this time, it was their story to write.
