The Collapse of a Kingdom
Lucian remained motionless as the officers surrounded him. His once-unshakable confidence had crumbled into dust.
Selene watched, her chest rising and falling with steady breaths. This moment should have felt like victory but it didn't.
Eve kept the gun aimed at Lucian, her grip unwavering. 'It's over." Lucian's lips parted, but no words came. What could he say? There was no escape. No deal is to be made. No power left to wield.
One of the officers stepped forward, his voice sharp. 'Lucian Blackwood, you are under arrest." Selene exhaled.
Lucian turned to her, his expression unreadable. 'Do you think this changes anything?" Selene met his gaze. 'I know it does."
Lucian chuckled, but it was hollow. He had spent his life building an empire of control, and now, he had nothing.
The officer grabbed his wrist, securing the first cuff. Lucian inhaled sharply. For the first time, real panic flickered across his face. 'This isn't over," he murmured. Selene's jaw tightened. 'Yes, it is."
Lucian struggled slightly, his pride forcing him to resist but there was no fight left in him.
The second cuff clicked into place, and Selene inhaled. The weight of the moment settled on her shoulders.
Eve lowered her weapon. Her body trembled slightly, but her eyes held steady as Lucian was dragged to his feet, his shoulders stiff. He refused to look at them now.
The officers led him toward the exit. His kingdom, his power—gone.
Selene and Eve didn't move. They watched as the man who had ruled over them for so long was finally taken away.
Lucian reached the door before he paused. Slowly, he turned his head. His eyes locked onto Selene's with no hatred or anger, just quiet acknowledgment, and then, he was gone.
Selene exhaled and the world felt lighter.
Eve released a slow breath. She turned to Selene, her lips parting as if to say something—but no words came because nothing needed to be said.
Selene had won but was victory enough?
