15: I Will Skin Her Alive!
The following day, Alpha Callum and Luna Viviana were getting ready to go to the farm.
"I'm excited to visit the farm again," Luna Viviana squealed in delight. "I'm hoping that Grandpa Eliezer had finished creating the fertility concoction so we can finally have a child of our own," she added wistfully.
Alpha Callum fell silent.
Luna Viviana noticed his silence. "Why? You no longer want to have a child with me? You already give up?" she asked, observing his face closely, feeling hurt that he seemed to be losing interest in the topic.
Alpha Callum sighed deeply. "Don't say that. If the Moon Goddess gives us children, then thanks to her. If she doesn't give us a child, then I'm fine with it. You don't have to torture yourself about having a child. It is something you can't force. It has to happen naturally," he said gently, not wanting to prolong the uncomfortable topic any longer.
He did want to have a child with his wife, but he had already given up a long time ago after their family doctor told them that his wife was barren. It deeply saddened him in the past. But after discovering the existence of his son with Clarice, he's now a happy man.
He looked hard at his wife. There is no love for her in his heart, only respect because she is his wife and Luna of their pack. Viviana had been with him through thick and thin, and she loved him unconditionally. He couldn't bring himself to hurt her.
"Hon, did it ever occur in your mind even once to have a side chick or a mistress to give you a child?" Luna Viviana asked him seriously.
He shook his head. "I never entertained that idea even once."
"Really? It's hard to believe..." Luna Viviana said in a mocking tone.
"Think what you will, but my conscience is clear," he said in a sincere tone.
"I hope so," Luna Viviana said gloomily, her eyes flashing with suspicion. "Just don't ever make a mistake of betraying me with another woman. I will skin her alive!" she stated venomously, wanting her husband to know that she wouldn't tolerate infidelity between them. She has been a loyal and devoted wife to him. He should act the same towards her.
Alpha Callum groaned in annoyance. "Let's stop talking about this topic," he said, rising to his feet. "I'm going to my office to take care of something. If you are done packing let me know so we can begin our journey to the farm." He walked to the door and exited.
Luna Viviana stared at the closed door, wondering what had happened to her husband nowadays? He's been a bit absent-minded lately. Sometimes he would zone out during their conversation, as if his mind was preoccupied with a lot of things not related to the pack.
Her husband is changing, but she can't understand the reason why. She noticed the change, but it's hard to describe. But definitely there was something going on that she didn't know about. Humans call that feeling a woman's intuition.
It was too early to suspect that he was seeing someone else. She doesn't want to accuse him without strong evidence.
If he's having an affair with another woman behind her back, she will find out soon!
The reason why she wanted to visit the farm was to ask for the fertility medicine that Grandpa Eliezer was working on to help her conceive. Then she also wanted to ask the old man if her husband had brought a woman to the farm?
Although she trusted her husband, it can't be denied that he is a male with needs and his deepest desire is to have a child of his own to continue his legacy. Sadly, she can't provide him with a heir.
Feeling depressed and saddened by her barren condition, she can only pray to the Moon Goddess to help her conceive a child so she can finally give her husband an offspring that would complete their family.
"I hate feeling this way!" Luna Viviana cried silently. She was desperate to conceive and be given a baby to call her own.
Why, of all the she-wolves in the world, was she the unlucky one? Why?
Her eyes were swarming with tears. She let the tears roll down her face, as sorrow and desperation sank deeper into her heart. After a few minutes of crying, she finally wiped her tears with the handkerchief and rose to her feet.
Today is not the time for self-pity.
Time to leave!
She walked to the door and called her maid to take the bags to the car. Then she went to her husband's office and found him giving instructions to his beta.
"Take care of everything here. And if something comes up, inform me right away," Alpha Callum told his assistant.
"Copy, Alpha. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything," Beta Amir said reassuringly, avoiding Luna Viviana's gaze.
"Hon, I'm ready to go. Our bags are already in the car," Luna Viviana announced.
"Okay, let's go," Alpha Callum responded with a nod.
The couple left the house, boarded their vehicle and begin their journey to the farm.
Inside the car, the couple were silent, barely talking to each other. Both looked preoccupied. A lot of things were swirling in their minds.
"Hon, we should have brought the driver for this journey, you might get tired of driving." Luna Viviana broke the silence.
"I'm fine. I miss driving in the countryside," Alpha Callum replied.
"If you get tired, let me drive," she offered.
"OK. Later." Alpha Callum nodded his head.
"What's wrong with you, hon?" Luna Viviana finally asked.
Alpha Callum's brows drew together. "Huh? There is nothing wrong with me," he said defensively.
"OK, as you say so," she said with a sigh, shifting her attention to the scenic view down the road.
Time has passed by.
After a long journey, they finally reached the farm house. Alpha Callum parked the car in the clearing.
The couple exited the vehicle.
"Pops, we just arrived!" Alpha Callum announced their presence.
The door opened, and Grandpa Eliezer smiled at the newcomers. "Welcome back, guys!"
Luna Viviana smiled brightly, waving at the old man. "Grandpa, it's nice to be back here!" she said cheerily, moving to the door.
"It's nice to see you again, Luna Viviana," Grandpa Eliezer replied.
"Have you already concocted a new medicine to cure my sterile condition?" she asked excitedly.
"Yeah, I have already created a new medicine. But I'm not sure if it will be effective this time, because we both know that the previous medicines didn't work," Grandpa Eliezer said sadly.
"Yeah..." Luna Viviana replied gloomily. "But I'm not losing hope yet. With your help, I know I can conceive one day. I still believe in your abilities, Grandpa."
"Thanks for the vote of confidence." Grandpa Eliezer smiled, glancing at Callum secretly.
"Can I see the medicine, please?" Luna Viviana asked in a thrilled voice.
"Sure. Let's get inside the house so you and your husband can rest," Grandpa Eliezer went back inside the house, followed by Luna Viviana.
Alpha Callum deposited the bags in the room on the second floor of the house, intentionally avoiding the room that Clarice had previously occupied.
When he went downstairs, his wife and his grandfather were already discussing the dosage of the medicine.
"Just take one tablespoon on an empty stomach every morning. Let's hope this one is effective in curing your fertility problems," Grandpa Eliezer said earnestly.
Luna Viviana smiled and showed the bottle filled with black liquid to her husband. "Hon, see this bottle? This is Grandpa's newest concoction to treat my infertility problem. I'm sure it will work this time," she said, feeling optimistic.
"Nice," Alpha Callum commented casually.
Grandpa Elzier stood up. "Let's go now to the dining table. I have already prepared our lunch. Fried fish and fish soup cooked with ginger and herbs," he said.
"Yummy!" Luna Viviana squealed in delight.
They headed to the kitchen and ate their meals.
After lunch is over, Luna Viviana helps Grandpa Eliezer with cleaning the kitchen and washing the dirty dishes. Afterward, she went to the second floor and unpacked their things, arranging them in the closet.
Done unpacking, she left the room and joined the men in the living room for a chit-chat.
