120. We Make Things Happen
If they are the police authorities, then she will allow them to pass. If they are one of the enemies, then she will freeze them until the police arrive.
When Clarice was already hovering above the speedboats and coast guard vessels, she knew Martha's team had finally arrived. She saw her, the only female among the men. Martha was looking despondent and anxious. She's probably worried about her missing niece.
While she was staring at Martha, she was wondering if she would work with her to help her and her team in chasing the bad guys once Demetria leaves. She realized that human cops are too few compared to the millions of people they have to watch.
A cop's job is to protect people, preserve peace and order in society and arrest bad people. Just their numbers are not enough to do the job. That is why Demetria's contribution is valuable to the police force.
Now, she is wondering if she will continue Demetria's legacy, helping police locate the most notorious and baddest villains hiding in the city's underground landscape.
She felt bothered that one day she would get addicted to becoming a hero, and suddenly she would receive calls or texts from Martha in the middle of the day while she was having lunch or dinner with her family, asking her for help with a difficult case and other cop-related stuff.
Grandpa Mortaz, the elders and Demetria are willing to catch villains to make this world a better place for everyone.
How about her?
What is her contribution to society in general? Should she continue Demetria's legacy?
It's confusing so far, but she will definitely extend help during difficult times. After all, what is the use of her superpower abilities if she can't help other people?
She hopes her involvement with Martha won't affect her peace and family time in the future.
She watched as the speedboat and Coast Guard vessels docked in the island's mini-port. She teleported back to the basement of the mansion to inform her mentor that Martha and her team had arrived.
When she arrived in the basement, everyone was already frozen. The wounded men lay on the bloody floor after fighting each other.
"They have already arrived!" Clarice informed her mentor.
"Good! About time," Demetria said, looking at the men with contempt flashing in her eyes.
Clarice looked at the mesh hanging from the ceiling. "I wonder if Beatrice and Leona are among these kidnapped women?" she asked.
"Yes, they are," Demetria replied.
"Are they still alive?" Clarice asked, feeling hopeful.
"Yes, all the women are alive, but some are heavily injured, but I have already healed their wounds to stop the bleeding. I make sure they all survived today and lived another day," Demetria explained.
"That's awesome!" Clarice gushed happily, feeling grateful that they had succeeded in their mission, finding the two missing women and saving the others from death. "So what's the plan? Martha's team are currently entering the house, and they will be here any minute from now," she asked.
"We will stay invisible and observe everything. Let's make sure nothing goes wrong with this operation. In short, we will only leave after the women are brought safely to the vessel. We saved them, so we should make sure they reach the hospital safe and sound," Demetria replied.
Clarice nodded her head. "Copy."
"After the police arrive, we will teleport outside and allow them to do their thing, documenting everything," Demetria added.
The moment the police entered the room, Demetria quickly unfreeze everyone in the room.
The women stayed in the basement for a few minutes, watching the police doing their jobs. Afterward, they left the basement. They teleported outside the house and landed near the beach.
They sat on a bench a few meters from the port, breathing fresh, salty air.
"This island is beautiful, and the beach is awesome. The house is luxurious, but who would ever think that, in the basement, gruesome activities are being carried out there periodically? These men have so much money that they don't know what to do with their money anymore. They ended up kidnapping and torturing women to satisfy their sick games and sadistic fantasies," Demetria murmured sadly.
"Yeah. I saw the ten decomposing bodies of women lying on an operating table in one of the rooms. My heart is broken," Clarice said, teary-eyed.
"Every day, women have to endure all types of violence at the hands of ruthless and cruel men all over the world. It is truly sickening and revolting. We are lucky, we have supernatural powers, we can protect ourselves, but how about others, especially the weak?" Demetria asked.
"Sad indeed." Clarice sighed heavily. She never thought that this woman beside her, who imprisoned her in the basement after saving her from drowning in the sea, had a heart of gold.
Demetria cares deeply about innocent people's safety regardless of their race. She is one of the best vampires alive.
She has immense respect and admiration for her mentor and sees her now in a different light.
Time has passed by.
The gentle sea breeze caresses their skin as they watch the police loading the women onto the coast guard vessel, to be taken to the nearest hospital.
"I'm glad Martha and her team prioritized women first," Clarice said.
"Yeah. To hell with the bad guys! If not for Martha, I would kill the men to avenge the women," Demetria said indignantly.
"Me too," Clarice agreed.
Time went by.
Dawn is breaking on the horizon and all the surviving men have also been taken away. What remains inside the mansion are police investigating the place.
Demetria stood up. "It's time to leave. Let's go back to the house and rest."
"OK." Clarice agreed. She felt sleepy, wanting to climb into her bed and sleep.
The women left the island, and teleported back home for much-needed sleep.
The moment they arrived at the sacred house, they went to their rooms and slept the whole morning.
Hours went by.
The afternoon has come.
Clarice wakes up at 3:00 in the afternoon hungry and thirsty for blood. She quickly got out of bed, left the bedroom and went outside to pick up the chicken and take the animals to the kitchen.
She had frozen the chicken, and then continued with the process of removing the blood and drinking the red liquid afterward.
After drinking chicken blood, her hunger and thirst disappeared. She cleaned the chicken, chopped it into pieces and put it in the fridge. She is not in the mood to cook today.
She left the kitchen and stepped outside the house, breathing fresh air, admiring the spectacular view of the ocean below. She closed her eyes, enjoying the peaceful moment and thinking about home.
She is getting closer to reclaiming her old life!
Once Demetria leaves, she can finally return to her family and resume where she left off. She will go home and reveal herself to her husband and son.
Yay! She's getting excited!
She fixed her attention on the beautiful spot on the beach below the mountain, surrounded by lush greenery. It seemed like the water was inviting her to swim. Why not go swimming today?
The weather is good. It's a sunny day.
It's such a fantastic time to swim in the deep blue sea.
A few moments later, Demetria joined her. "How's your sleep, dear?" she asked.
"Great," Clarice replied.
"Have you fed already?" Demetria inquired.
"You mean blood? Yup, I do. I've already gotten used to chicken blood," Clarice replied with a smile.
"So you prefer chicken blood over my blood?" Demetria asked.
"Yeah, kind of. After drinking chicken's blood for several days, my body had already gotten used to it. Chicken served two purposes: as my blood supply and for making delicious dishes. Awesome, right?" Clarice laughed softly.
"I find it amusing that you prefer chicken blood over real blood, but whatever rocks your boat I will support you," Demetria said, smiling.
"By the way, what was the update last night? Have you talked to Martha?" Clarice asked.
"Yup, she keeps me updated on the ongoing investigation. Beatrice and Leona are recovering safely in the hospital. The women were sexually assaulted by the men before the torture game began. The women were meant to die that night. Good thing we arrived on time and stopped the carnage. Several men died while fighting each other, others survived to tell the tale," Demetria elaborated further.
"I wonder what they told the police about you? I presume they told the police that a demon rose up from the depths of hell and manipulated them to kill each other. Am I right?" Clarice asked.
Demetria smiled, remembering her scary disguise. "That's right, but who would believe the men's words, since they were all high on drugs? The police think the men are hallucinating and, after torturing the girls, they decide to kill each other."
"The women recounted the horror they experienced at the hands of their abductors. And I feel sorry for the families of the women whose bodies were decomposing in another room. I feel bad about their tragic deaths," Demetria added, shaking her head gloomily.
"Me too. I feel sad for the girls that we weren't able to save," Clarice murmured sorrowfully.
Silence enveloped the women.
"So, what are your plans for today? Shall we go shopping in the city to reward ourselves for a job well done? What do you want to do today?" Demetria asked.
Clarice stared at the beautiful spot on the beach, pointing her hand at the location. "Look at that beautiful spot on the beach. Let's go there and swim!" she said excitedly.
"Sure. Let's go to the beach and swim until sunset," Demetria agreed cheerily.
The women returned to the house to get their picnic blankets and clothes. Afterward, they teleported to the beach to swim in the beautiful deep blue sea, enjoying the beauty of nature for the rest of the day.
